Worth every penny! These boots are beautiful. Extremely well-crafted. The leather is soft and supple. Unfortunately, I cannot get my foot into them. I suspect it is because I have a high arch. So, I have to return them, but I would dearly love to keep them!

The boots of my dreams - I have been scouting out boots for some time now, and have tried on too many to count - but this is it! These boots are certainly not cheap but are extremely comfortable (without being frumpy) and should look great with skirts, dresses and pants for the next several seasons. I bought the black boots, and just wish they were made in red as well! Well worth the troublesome hunt.

I really wanted to love this boot. It's beautiful, great quality, great style. The dark brown color is almost black, so it's perfect if you're debating between black and brown. However, it was just too big for me. I'm 5'2" and it came up above the bottom of my kneecap. It was just too tall to work for my height. So sad to send this back.

Although these are lovely boots they were not what I had hoped they were. I read all the reviews and bought them based on hoping that they would fit my athletic calves. They did, but they drew attention to that area in a way that was not pleasing. Also the ankle area fit oddly so walking was a little weird. The leather was beautiful and I loved the pull on straps. They are just too expensive to not be 100% happy with them so I am returning them. The ordering process through Zappos was excellent as always.

I love the look of this boot. The dark brown burnished color is a perfect worn-in, weathered look. My usual size is an 8.5, so I ordered the 8.5, but my heel was slipping out the back, so I would try a size smaller. But I think it was "baggier" than I expected, around the ankle and entire calf. It was really tall and not very flattering on my leg (I'm 5'6), so sadly I'm going to return it.

I'm 5'2 and a runner. I have trouble finding tall boots that aren't too tight around my short calves. This boot fits with some room but it's tall and comes right up to my knee. I'm breaking them in and the leather is nice and stiff. I own a pair of the Carson boots and that leather is a bit more relaxed. I like these and they're growing on me but I can't say that I love them. This probably has a lot to do with my height and my difficulty in finding tall boots that are super comfortable. I could have gone down a half size (I'm a size 6) but was too nervous that the shaft wouldn't fit. They are somewhat bulky in the ankle and the heel rubs a bit as I'm breaking them in but I think that will go away once they're fully broken in.

I loved the style of the boot; however, the height of the leg was too high for me (5'4"). It came above the bottom of my knee and didn't look as good as it would if it were a bit shorter. So, unfortunately, I am going to have to send them back. :(

I love my boots!! I brought them in brown and they are great for walking around the city stylish but comfortable. They we incredibly hard to get off for the first month or so, but now they fit great and it only takes one person to get them on and off.

A good investment - Frye does quality boots, though it's a shame not more of their line are actually made in America. After much consideration of the current Frye selection (Fall 2008), I chose the Paige Tall Riding boot because of its classic look, pull-on feature, tall height, and flat heel for walking. The shaft height and width are both good (I'm 5'4"): I'm easily able to tuck in jeans or slip them under bootcut jeans, and they also look great with skirts. I have no trouble getting them on or off. The only negative has been that my heel slips a bit in the size 7, even with thicker socks, but the toe area is on the narrow side, so I didn't want to risk a 6.5. I did have a cobbler apply sole guards, and he recommended a thin, leather insert for the slippage, which I'm considering. For stylish, quality walking boots, the Paige Tall Riding boots are great, though you may need to plan for sizing adjustments. Zappos' service was exceptional as always--the boots arrived the day after the order was placed.

Great boots! The boots are made of beautiful leather. They seem very durable and I think I'm going to have them for a long time. These are a good classic boot that look great with skinny jeans which is actually what I'm wearing them with right now. I ordered them in dark brown and I have been wearing them with black tops because they are so dark.

Like the Boots - The Boots are super cute but a little narrow. Tough to get on and off with skinny jeans but I don’t mind the extra effort.

Great for wide calves and feet but not slimming. I've been looking for comfortable, durable, and flattering boots I can wear often and will last me for years to come. I have calves on the larger more muscular side with wide feet so it's hard shopping for boots (as well as embarrassing when I'm at the store and can't even get my foot into some -it’s happened to me before). I range from a size 6 to 6.5 and got a 6 in these. I was afraid I'd have trouble getting my foot and calves into these boots but they slipped right in with zero effort (I was wearing medium thickness socks and straight leg jeans)! They are comfortable for my wide feet but I do feel slight pressure at the widest point of my foot and can see the leather stretched a bit there (they might stretch and conform with time). The heel is a bit loose and my heels come up when I walk but it doesn't bother me too much. If you have narrow feet, I would order your normal size. For those with wide feet, it’s not necessary to size up but it could be considered if you have very wide feet and like extra room though I can't imagine how the heel would fit then (I never thought I had narrow heels yet they slip in these). If you plan on using inserts, definitely go a half size up. As for looks, if you are thin legged or tall, these would be flattering due to the cuff. I am neither so as much as I wanted to love these boots, they just aren't for me. They look great and slimming from the profile view but from the front and back view, the extra flap/cuff in the front they make my calves look pretty wide. I’m not sure if it’s due to the anatomy of my calves but for from reason, the edges of the flap/cuff stick outwards. These would be perfect if not for the flap. Frye makes great quality boots so I will continue searching for another style.

I am 7 1/2 - 8 (more often an 8) but needed the 7 1/2 in these. If you are like me and in between sizes, then order the smaller size.

I didn’t order the wide calf version - this version fits but is tight mid calf making it feel like I can’t pull them all the way up. The feel like they slouch and are too big in the ankle. I’m not sure if this would improve/change with breaking in. The heel is lower than I thought it would be. I might keep them, but I’m going to try a different style to see if they fit better.

So unfortunately even though these boots are marked as wide calves they are not :( I was able to zip up but the boot slouched way more than I wanted to, and I am not a large person (though with athletic calves apparently). I just want a boot that doesn't slouch after I zip it up

While I love the look of these boots, I found them to be extremely tight in the ankle and foot bed. My baby toes felt so smushed. Guess I will have to keep looking for the perfect boot!

When I first saw these boots online I fell in love but then I was confused by all the comments. Some said they were too big, some said they were too small and others said they were true to size. Some said the calf had extra room and some said they were snug. I was so confused but ordered them anyway. By accident I ordered 2 pair..one from Zappos and one from amazon. I went down a half size in both. Well, I received the boot and I have come to the conclusion that every boot, even if its the same size fits different. Botg pairs were 6 and a half and one was huge and one fit true to size. I don't have big calves and they are average and these boots were very snug. I think each pair fits different so you're really just taking a chance when it comes to size and fit. I am 5'2 and the boots fit right under my knee which was fine with me, however they looked too bulky for my height and fit too snug. I think if you're tall with skinny legs these would be adorable and just not flattering on me. They went back. I hope this helps clear up confusion about the size issue. Super cute boot, just not for everyone.

I was very excited to get these boots, but disappointed in the fit. These are high quality boots compared to most that I have tried on in past years. I ordered my typical size and they fit great everywhere except for the ankles- very loose in this area. My friend mentioned that it looked like I had cankles, so they are going back. I'm going to try another style since the quality is what I was looking for.

These are absolutely beautiful. I wear a size 11...on the wide side but not a true wide...and I'm an athlete. As beautiful as these were, they just did not fit, the calves were so tight. I could get them on and I'm sure I could have them stretched but that's just adding to the already crazy cost so I'm returning them. Wish I didn't have to.

Like other reviewers, I found the boot to be gorgeous and well-made, but not a great fit, especially for the price. I am 5'3" and the shaft was too tall (it was uncomfortable behind my knee while sitting). I ordered my regular shoe size (7.5) - they were a little difficult to get on, but not impossible. Lastly, there was considerable bunching around the ankle once on, which is not the look I’m after with these boots. I will keep trying.

Cute, but the front is kinda weird... The leather is great on these boots. I bought the black and it's really beautiful. I got my regular size, 8, and they fit perfectly. However, I ended up returning them. I'm about 5'1" and I thought they came up a bit too high on my legs. Also, the front part wasn't too flattering on me. It's the leather "piece" in the front that just looked kinda weird on my legs (but I'm short, so maybe that's why). I just wasn't a fan of that leather panel thing in the front. Otherwise, these are great for gals w/ a somewhat larger calf and feet. My foot is a tad bit on the wider side (but not enough so that I buy wide shoes or make any special concessions) and my calves hardly ever fit into boots. With these, I had no problems getting them on or off. I'd recommend the Paige Buckles style over this one.

Definitely a RIDING BOOT - Horse riders out there; this is the boot for you! I am not a rider, however; I bought this boot because I thought it looked good & it had a low heel so I wouldn't break my neck while I was chasing my 2 year old around. If you plan to wear this boot on the outside of your pants or with a skirt, then they are a pretty good boot for that. If you wear them under your pants the pants will not sit on top of the boots smoothly and they will bunch up at the top of the boots because of the extra leather layer (brush guard/protection) on the front of the boot. That extra layer also makes them a little stiffer than I would like for a casual boot. There are boots out there that are called riding boots but are actually intended for casual wear. I don’t believe these boots fall under that category. They don't have any tread on the bottom so they can be a little slippery. I will wear them with skirts, though. They are sturdy, quality boots. The leather is beautiful and if I was a horse rider I would be 95% satisfied only taking away 5% for the fact that they don't provide much traction on smooth surfaces.

Love these boots, but sadly will be returning. My calf is 17 1/2, so it is really hard to find good quality leather wide calf boots. I was so excited when I slipped the right foot on no problem even with room! The left one I couldn't even get up half way. I don't know why; measurement of both calves is 17 1/2. Too expensive of a boot to be "close enough" and I didn't want to risk ruining the booth with the amount of stretching the left one would require. So sad. So, so sad!! : ( The leather is gorgeous.

I really wish these boots had a zipper. The slip on style just doesn't work for a person with a high arch-I couldn't even get my foot into it. Other than that, they were very well made. Bummer that they didn't think about adding a zipper in their design.
