Great boots! Unfortunately my legs are too short for these. Definitely a wide shaft, but just didn't work on my legs. Beautiful boots!

Great boots for girls with big calves! Love them, super comfy, definitely order a size up. Extra tall boots that look great with casual skirts and dresses.

I have been looking and looking for stylish, flat black leather boots that fit over my muscular calves. It has been a frustrating search to say the least. These well made Frye boots definitely fit the bill. They are cute with leggings, tucked in jeans and skirts. They were relatively comfortable right out of the box, but the comfort improved with increased wearing time! They are just a little bit hard to get on and off and a tucked away zipper might have been helpful in that regard. So far, no complaints about the leather flap as others have commented.

Classy good looking boot! I wear a size 10, ordered a 10, but found that it was a half size too big. Reordered a 9.5 and it fits beautifully! Sooo, I got another pair in grey!

Great boots! I wear an 8, ordered an 8...and they fit like a glove the first time I wore them! None of that breaking-in stuff on these. They seem to fit true to size. They are a little wide at the top which is a good thing if you are wearing your pants tucked in...or have larger calves. Many compliments on these boots - great purchase. I am very happy!

Amazing boot! Such great quality, as is customary from Frye. Sadly, my calves were just a shade too large, so they scrunched up too much at the ankle. I really really wished that they fit better, but I had to send them back. The quest for a boot continues! I would highly recommend these, though. And buying through Zappos was so easy!

This is a comfortable and convenient boot. It slides on with ease and is heaven to wear. I love the slightly distressed leather. It's a true 9½ with a good pair of socks. With tights they're roomy, but not a half size larger as some others have suggested.

I liked these boots better before I tried them on. They were really tough to get off. And I agree with a previous review that they make your calves look like upside-down triangles. I never really considered myself as having big calves so after reading the reviews I expected them to be roomier. But with skinny jeans tucked in, they were pretty snug (I just prefer a looser look and fit rather than the boot fitting so close to the leg). I think they look better worn over bare legs or with leggings or tights, but I need boots that I can wear over jeans because that's how I'd wear them the most. The leather is really nice and I'm sure they look better on other people, they just didn't quite work out for me. And I do believe they run a half size large.

After a disappointing purchase of Frye boots a few months ago I decided to give them another shot - I'm glad I did. I have athletic calves from horseback riding and usually have problems finding boots that I can pull on comfortably or even zip, but these boots are WINNERS in that category. They're easy to pull on and stay up. I've got a good bit of room in the top part of the boot around my calves (I can fit almost a whole hand in there), but it's comfortable. They're easy to pull on and off and look stylish. LOVE them. I love the dip in the back of the boot. They're comfortable to wear and walk around in and are warm as well (or as warm as they need to be for a SoCal winter!). My one complaint is that with the double top makes my calves look wide, but I don't really care.

Finally, a boot that fits my calves! I have been looking for a pair of riding boots for a couple of years now, and I have not been able to find any pull-on boots that would fit my legs. I have a 16" calf and I had little trouble pulling these on. I did use the plastic bag trick initially but I think after I wear them a few times, I will not need to do that any more. These are absolutely gorgeous as they are made from quality leather, beautiful silhouette. They are expensive, but they are totally worth the money

I'm in LOVE! These boots are beautiful and so soft. I agree that you need a 1/2 size smaller. I normally wear a 9-9.5 depending on the shoe. I originally ordered the 9 in the dark brown burnished leather but had to send them back because they were both too big and had odd coloring (definitely not as pictured). The tan color is amazing, though, and matches well with all of my clothes.

I ordered this boot as I have been looking for two years for the perfect boot. I have black boots with heels but wanted a more every day boot...this is it! I can wear with skinny jeans, boot cut jeans, dresses and skirts. Perfect! I love the dark brown color. I will have rubber put on bottom so they will have more traction and last longer. No true arch support, but I will wear inserts. Lovely boot, worth the price, it looks much more expensive than it is.

I love this boot! It is made from top quality leather and feels great. I was worried I would have to ;break them in before they would feel this good. The only negative, for me, would be that the shaft is wider than most boots. About 15½" and I have skinny calfs so feels a little roomier than I like. I will say they are great for wearing leggings and tucking in jeans and will be perfect for those with a little more calf on their legs! Great boot! Zappos is great and I got these boots in just a few days! Thank you!

I have owned a lot of boots in my life and these are the most comfortable I've ever worn. They are a bit longer in size. If you have a somewhat narrow foot go down a half size. I kept them as I may want to wear thicker socks and need more room width wise. I am 50 and wear them with my jeans tucked in with a sweater and they look great, not too trendy, just classy.

I love these boots! You can keep them casual with jeans and a chunky sweater, or dress them up and they still look great! I would definitely size down by half a size!

I'll start off by saying that they're gorgeous! But they do run a little big. I usually wear a size 8, maybe even 8.5 with sandals. I bought these in an 8 and I had to return them for a 7.5. They're totally worth the (very short) wait though! Highly recommended.

Okay, like seriously! These boots are by far the most amazing boot ever! Not only are they absolutely gorgeous, but they are comfortable and classic! If you are in doubt, do not be! They are worth every penny! Zappos has the most amazing service! I will not go and buy shoes in stores anymore! Zappos has the best return policy! And not only free returns, but I have never received a package so quick! All around I have never been so impressed with a company! Looking forward to purchasing shoes again!

I had been eyeing these boots for many months and then saw them at a local department store and decided to try them on so I could talk myself out of spending so much money on boots. However, trying them on made me love them more! My husband ended up buying them for me in brown for Christmas and I did have to go down a half size from what I normally wear. After getting them for Christmas, I decided to buy them in the black too, because I think they are such a timeless looking boot and I think I'll wear them for many years to come. I ordered the black in a 6.5, which is the same size as my brown ones and when they arrived, they were super small and uncomfortable. I called Zappos on Saturday afternoon to put in my request for an exchange (I decided to try them in a 7, which were way too big in the brown) and I received my size 7s on Monday morning. I'm always so impressed with Zappos' customer service! The 7s in the black fit exactly like the 6.5s in the brown and I love them! I'm so happy to have them in both colors. I think my advice to someone ordering for the first time would be to consider going down a half size in all of the colors except the black. If you're buying black, try going your regular size first because I think the black is a stiffer leather (though still very comfy). I also bought the Frye weathering paste because I live in a snowy climate and want to weatherproof the leather. I will probably have to take them to a local cobbler and have some traction put on the sole because they are slippery and I don't want to fall on the ice while carrying my children. Finally, I'll share that I'm 5'3 inches, 118 pounds, with 13.5 inch calves and I feel that these boots are neither too tall for me, or too wide in the calf. They're perfect for skinny jeans, leggings, and tights, and I'm a very satisfied Zappos customer!

Excellent walking boot - These boots are extremely comfortable once broken in (it doesn't take long to break them in, but expect them to scrunch a bit on your ankle and heel until you do). Easy to pull on, easy to take off, and despite my high arches, I have enough support to walk for hours. These boots are also warm - I've worn them all over NYC in the now freezing weather with tights and dresses and socks and jeans and my feet are never cold (even though the leather will look a bit thin at first glance). Two notes: (1) I am a solid size 9, but I had to order a 1/2 size larger to get the fit right; and (2) the soles are a bit slick so I would suggest taking them to your local cobbler and having a rubber tread put on the front of the sole in addition to the one that is already on the heel.

Love these boots! I have wide feet and these boots fit great. I was worried that the shaft might not be big enough to wear over jeans because my calves are athletic, but they are perfect. I love these boots.

Update... I reviewed these boots in August and said how hard they were to get on. Well, I didn't return them and they have loosened to the point that they are now very easy to get on and off by myself. Now they really are the perfect boot and I have no complaints! So go for it, they are hot.

WOW. Better by far than expected. My fourth try at finding the boot of my dreams and this is it. Soft supple leather that smells, feels, and looks like it will last a lifetime. These are your forever boots. I think they look far more pricey than they were and they aren't inexpensive! I'm so happy I read the other reviews and pulled the trigger on these. You will not be disappointed.

Love them! Such gorgeous boots! Incredibly soft also. I ordered my usual size (8), and they fit with a little wiggle room. My feet are wide-ish, so the extra room on the toes ensured a nice fit around the middle. The boots come up to a few inches bellow my knees. There are no zippers, but it was very easy to get them on and off. Super cute with a skirt or jeans tucked in.

Perfect riding boot! They are a little tough to get on at first but once you break them in there no complaints!
