They're a little dusty looking (tried water and nail polish remove to try and remove no luck). Also, the calf diameter is a large increase from the original hunter so while you can comfortably fit your legs in with jeans; you're swimming in them if you want to wear them with leggings or tights.

Huge in the ankles. Great for my calves but returned.

I received the original boot as a Christmas gift, but had to return them because I have shorter/athletic calves and they were way too tall and skinny for my leg. After reading about Huntress being more suited for my leg type, I decided to give them a try. They fit fine, but I still would not be able to wear any type of pant with them. There isn't room for anything but my leg. I do not think there is anything special about these making them worth this price.

I really wanted to like these boots. I read that the Huntress was made for wider calves. Well, my calves are not that wide, but these boots were way too tight. I could barely get them off once I put them on. They really don't seem to adjust at all in the calf. I can't wear them even though the foot is comfortable. They are going back.

I ordered these rain boots after almost 3 hours of scrolling through the reviews, which mostly said these were the ticket if you have wide calves. My calves measure 16.5 inches, and these boots did not fit around them. I was wearing shorts and no socks and they were so tight, so I didn't even attempt to try jeans tucked into them. So that being said... I am sadly returning them and taking one last attempt on the Original Short Hunter rain boots. Hopefully they work, or I'll just be resigned to not having rain boots.

These boots are really wide in the calf. I wish I had a better description. I'm 5'4" and 160ish pounds. medium build, ordered the huntress because I heard the talls run narrow. I would advise trying them on if at all possible. I ended up going locally and buying the shorts. They are a perfect mix, not too tight, but not huge either. These huntress boots are also very wide in the ankle. Making them look slouchy..I usually wear a true 7.5. I got a 7 and they fit perfectly. If you are ordering the tall, just know the shaft is meant to be snug, they are rain boots. When I tried the talls on locally, they fit well, but you would need skinny leg jeans with them. You won't be tucking bootcut jeans into these, just fyi....

Unfortunately these were still to narrow for my calves!! Not sure why, but had to return them. I don't think I have excessively large calves, and I think I've fit in a 16" before, but oh well.

Overall these are nice boots. They fit a little snug around the calfs. I had to return the first pair for a full size smaller. There is also an awkward fit around the ankles; they sort of bunch because of the extra room around it. They also make noise when walking.

Based on other reviews I got a 9. I wear a 9 in New Balance sneakers. They fit around the calf but they were too big to walk in.

If you order the black1 color, please be aware this looks different than the matte black in the original hunters. Disappointed in that.

My calves are too sporty for the Hunter Original. I tried the Adjustable and the Huntress in the same order. My foot is narrow. The Adjustable was so much more snug around my heel/ankle and the Huntress felt sloshy. Without the comparison, I would have been fine with the lower height of the Huntress -- that actually felt more flexible/maneuverable in many ways. Style-wise, I preferred the look of the Adjustable's higher shaft. My ideal might have been a Huntress without the heel slosh. Ah well. Boyfriend hates the Hunter logo and said our relationship was over if I wore their boots. So...since Le Chemeau were too heavy, and I'm not sure I want to order/try every brand under the sun, I will just wear La Canadiennes next rainy day.

These boots are very comfortable, although I did add my own inserts as I always do. Since they are rubber they can be a bit chilly but otherwise they have been my go-to shoes whenever there is wet pavement or less than ideal weather conditions. The problem I have is their lack of durability. One buckle is becoming detached even though it is essentially decorative. Both boots have cracked completely through to the lining where the calf meets the ankle. The heels are hollow and have holes in them causing bits of gravel to become packed inside of the holes. One boot has deep gashes above the sole. I was going to purchase a pair of the short gloss, but now I will look at another brand first. If these were as durable as they are comfortable and useful I would buy several more pairs even though they are 5-7 times more expensive than boots from the local hardware store.

These are nice high boots but are truly rain boots. I saw many woman wearing them as snow boots in the NYC area but they are not warm. If you wear the booties and walk from your car to the office then they are a great option. However if you have a long commute, or need to shovel snow these are not the warmest options. Additionally, after each wear you have to wipe them down as any snow, water spots shows...especially compared to my old leather snow boots.

Very nice quality boot. However, I agree with the other reviews on here - it's too bulk around ankle, it runs about a full size too big, and it is slightly short. I will return this to try the adjustable boot.

I got these based on the various reviews that the original Hunter boots were too tight around the calf. My calves/ankles were swimming in these, and I am by no means a chicken leg person. I settled on the Hunter Boots with the adjustable calf area and I love them!

I bought the Huntress because the shaft is shorter than the original Hunter boot but the fit is at least a half size or full size larger than the original boot. I wore it with thick socks hoping it would fit better but my feet were still sliding in the boot. I wish I could return the boots for a size smaller.

I am unable to wear the traditional Hunter boot so I decided to try out the Huntress. My calves are 16" circumference and these boots fit great in the calf area with room to tuck in straight or skinny jeans. My only complaint is that the width seems to continue down into the ankle area. I have "normal" to smaller sized ankles so the boot made me look frumpy and there was so much extra space in the ankle, it looked unattractive to me. I ended up returning them because, for this price, I want to like everything about the boot! Aside from the appearance, it was comfortable in the foot bed, the rubber was very flexible, and overall boot was lightweight so wearing them all day would be doable. Just wish they were a bit more tapered down in the ankle.

I have been looking for a rain boot forever. My calves are around 15 1/2 inches plus since I am 5'1" with short legs, my calf never reaches the biggest part of a boot usually. I hardly ever can find one that fits. I tried these boots on today and they just barely fit. I would have lived with the slight tightness around the calf because at least I could get them on. What I couldn't live with was the flimsiness in the rest of the boot. They reminded me of my target rain boots so at the Hunter price wasn't going to live with the cheap looking bulkiness in the areas other than calf. Also I wear a 7 1/2-8 in regular shoes. Tried on the 7 and it was plenty big. I would have been swallowed in an 8.

They seemed really comfortable, unfortunately the calf was not large enough. I get tired of this problem. Not all women have stick calves. Bummer. Would've been a great boot.

I have wide calves, about 17 inch circumference so I thought I would try the Hunter wide calf rain boot. I read reviews about the ankle collapsing and unfortunately it is so true. The boot fits me great around the calves and allows me to tuck in jeans and other pants but when I walk they feel like they are collapsing around the ankles. They just feel way too big. Wide calves do not mean enormous ankles!

I wrote an earlier review and mentioned I ordered a size up, but I made a mistake that was a different order. I got these in my regular size. The calf was too tight, and I had been hoping to get the winter liner for them, but I could barely fit my leg in without them. Also I had hoped to tuck my jeans in and not happening! Another thought the ankle area was buckling and too big, so I really couldn't go up a size to get more calf room.

I liked this boot but the calf was not wide enough. I could get my legs into them but only barely, which caused the ankle area to bunch up. I had even ordered a size up thinking this would help with the fit, after reading other reviews, but it didn't. please make an extra wide calf boot!

Was looking forward to receiving these boots. When they came in they were in a faded powder color. It looks weird and I don't know how to get rid of the powdery look

I tend to have more muscular calves but my ankles are extremely narrow and often I walk out of shoes. I liked the shaft width on the Huntress wellies but the shoe part was far too big for my feet. I would easily walk right out of them, even with the thickest pair of socks on. Instead, I went for the Original Tall Wellies, which are a bit more snug around the foot area so I won't be walking out of them so easily.

Very disappointed! Right out of the box, covered in white scuff marks. Not thrilled to buy special polish before I can even wear them. In addition, they are a bit short; original Hunters were too tight on my calves; these fit my leg but fell well below my knee; not the look I want. (I am 5'9" with 16 inch calves.)
