I really liked this boot and I do have wide calves but not wide ankles so the ankles were bending and bunching all over the place. If your overall legs/ankles are wide then these will work but if you have small ankles they will look funny. After reading reviews about the adjustable Hunter boots I am going to try those since they fit up to 17 inch calves. Mine are 16 at their widest. In terms of sizing, I am a 7-7.5 and the 7's fit my feet perfectly.

After reading all the reviews, I thought this would be the perfect boot. I had just returned my Hunter Kids Original boot because of the reflective markers on the back, and I was hoping these Hunters would be stylish and comfortable. Unfortunately the wide calf sizing was too wide for me. I live in FL so wearing boot liners all the time isn't the right solution (I could hear/feel the boot slapping against my shins!). These boots went back and Zappos was kind enough to send me the Hunter Adjustable Boots. I am petite but athletic (I have some muscular definition to my legs) and the Adjustable version lets you really get the right sizing.

These wellies are super cute, but I have large calves and even the Huntress was tight. I can wear them with leggings, but not with skinny jeans. Also, my feet got super sweaty after wearing them around for a few hours, but I suppose that's maybe to be expected with rubber shoes? I'm not sure, I've never owned any before this.

I love the looks and fit of this boot. The only thing I don't love is the strong rubber smell. Can't leave these in my office. Hopefully smell will fade with time. I will probably buy a shorter pair also (in red!).

These are great looking, and wonderful for playing in puddles. I tried them for a volunteer gig that required standing the pouring rain for 2-3 hours and they were fairly supportive. Also, they were good, but not excellent in terms of traction and support on a rocky hiking trail. After reading the reviews, I ordered them in a size seven, which is a full size smaller and they fit fabulously. Calf size is very generous, and I can tuck my jeans in. All in all a good waterproof boot, but not the best for heavy duty hiking.

I ordered these Huntress boots and the original Hunters for comparison. I found the Huntress to be easier to put on and take off. The shaft height was a better fit - I'm 5'5 and the originals came all ways to my knee. The calf circumference is pretty wide, wider than I really need, so I can agree with some of these other reviews that it can move around a little when you walk. I tried the boots on again with thick socks and jeans and definitely noticed it less. Hopefully these will last a little longer than my previous rainboots from another fancy brand (who shall not be named) which developed a tear within a year.

They boots look great. The green is very pretty. Very comfortable to wear anywhere. When I wore thin socks I sometimes had an issue with keeping them on (they would slip off a little bit every time I took a step), but with a little bit thicker socks the problem disappeared.

I have the Hunter short boot and found they held up well in snow and rain. I wanted something higher for dresses and cold weather. I can tuck my jeans and the hunter socks in to these boots. However, as many have noted, Hunter does not make the socks for the Huntress. So the tall socks that I am using don't look as neat as I would like.

Thanks to my wonderful mother, I was blessed with athletic calves. These boots are wide enough to go over my calves when wearing leggings but are snug when wearing skinny jeans. I plan to keep them because I do not think it is a terrible thing that they are snug at the top. I would rather them be tight than way too baggy so rain does not get in! The only thing wide calf boot designers need to keep in mind is that just because some ladies have muscular calves does not mean they have cankles. The ankles in these boots are super big. That is not a huge problem but do not expect them to be fitted around your ankles if they are small compared to your calves!

My calves are large. I can wear these but can not tuck jeans into them. Awkward to walk in, not attractive as originals. I walk the dogs in them on rainy days so they work for that. Very loose on my foot, tight in calf

Well, I was really looking for a wide rain boot, but since they don't seem to exist outside Target, I decided to give this one a try since other reviews said it runs big. They were right. I'm a nine, and there is loads of room in there, which was good for me. You'll definitely need thick socks and maybe even some gel inserts. Overall, I'd say these are okay and do the job adequately.

I am 4'11" and these boots were too tall, even though they are the shorter tall boot. This one looked like I was getting ready to fly fish. I ended up with the "shorty" boot. If it had been an inch or two shorter it would have been perfect.

I don't think I have ever written a review but I feel I must this time. Zappos is amazing in terms of customer service and shipping! This was my third attempt at Hunter in less than a week. Hunter Original did not work for me because it was too tight in the calf area and too tall (I am 5'1"). The Huntress version I received was overall a much better fit but it had that blooming effect everywhere. I called Zappos and they shipped me yet a third pair that looks brand new. I am expecting to get a long run with these from the reviews I have previously read. Thanks Zappos!

One size smaller worked for me (I'm a 6 1/2 and bought the 6). I have the pair in navy, and it has that film everyone talks about. I was expecting a darker blue, but in the end I'm happy I have dry and comfy feet when it rains.

I just received my Navy Huntress boots and I love them. I measured about 15 1/2 inches in my calf and these fit perfectly, even with skinny jeans underneath. I normally wear a 7 1/2 and got the 7. The footbed fits well. Many people have talked about the loose fit and baggy ankle, and although they are bigger in the ankle, they're rain boots, not leather boots so they look and feel like they should for rain boots. This was my first order from Zappos and I was very pleased. Will buy again from them.

Thank goodness Hunter decided to make these. I am 5'1 with 15 inch calves and these come 1.5-2 inches below my knees, the perfect height. I can tuck in jeans and leggings and jeans feel a little tight but not a huge problem. Needless to say the Originals were way too tight; I'm envious of those with small calves. I agree that the ankles are baggy and wish they were narrower but it's not aesthetically unbearable if anything it might help for that extra space for thick socks during winter. All in all, I recommend these - wish they came in all colors!

I typically wear a 7.5 and found that the size 7 has plenty of room to spare. Although the Huntress is marketed as being loose at the knee, I feel they are snug. I have been rolling down the top inch so as to not get cut by the tight edge.

Go with these if you have an athletic build! I'm 5'4 about 130 and was concerned when I read the reviews of the original that said they were snug in the calf. I wear a size 8 and have a flat wide foot, I ordered a 38 and the fit is just right, with enough room for a thick sock.

I recently purchased the Hunter Huntress rain boots. I think the boots are great. The only bad thing I would say is that the color looks much duller in person than it does in the pictures.

They accommodate my larger calfs. The rubber is definitely solid. It's a solid buy. High quality materials. A bit wide in the foot and a about 1/2 a size too big or bigger than expected when ordering my usual size.

Okay. Good: They really are wide calf. I wear a size 5 shoe and my calf size is 16.5 inches. I'm also 5'1, so my knee to ankle length is pretty short. These hit right under my knees. I can wear skinny jeans with them tucked in comfortably. Bad: They're not warm (get some thermal socks if you can). I wear two double ankle socks (the ankle has a lot of room) and I get comfortable that way. Hmm...what else? Oh yeah, they don't breathe well, so you'll find that your legs/feet will be damp if you wear them indoors for a long time. Overall a great product and it does what it's meant to do. Keeps you dry.

I wear a 6.5 and the 6 is perfect for me to wear thick socks. The huntress offers a lot of extra space. I love these boots definitely worth the price, I am virtually living in them this winter season.

I got the original tall, but my calves did not fit in them. I tried the short hunter boots - which were very cute - but hard to take off. So, I decided on the Huntress, and love them! Very stylish, and my calves fit! They are cute with the striped welly socks, leggings and a long sweater!

Love these boots. I had previously ordered the original Hunter boots and they were too narrow through my calves and too tall. (I'm 5'2", 125 pounds.) These are perfect. They did arrive in full "bloom;" the rubber looked slightly grayish. I looked on line and found a suggestion to just wipe them down with ArmourAll and that worked like a charm.

I love these boots. They are comfortable and fit easily. I have a few challenges in the boot department - high arches, feet that run a little wide and athletic calves. No problems with the Huntress! I usually wear a 7.5 and ordered a 7 based on the reviews on this site - they were spot on. My boots arrived with the white bloom on them, but I like that they look "rough and tumble" so no tips on cleaning.
