I've never written a review before, but I've read a lot of yours and valued all your information and insight, so here goes. I live in Seattle, so I need a waterproof boot that I can wear comfortably all day all through our rainy winter, and that looks good enough even with skirts that I don't feel I should rush to change as soon as I'm indoors. My criteria for looks good are that they don't suggest I'm trying to make a virtue out of huge and clompy (you have to be much younger than I am to pull that off), that they don't suggest "tough" (as in aging motorcycle mama), and that they don't suggest that after a long, tiring battle the weather has won and I've just given up. These boots look so good you don't even think "sensible." Yet they are amazingly comfortable for their heel height: balanced and stable, with a heel shape that's incredibly flattering. The toe box is roomy, and the suede is supple so you're not bothered by "buckling" of the shaft as you walk. As to sizing: because I'm usually between a 9 and 9.5 I ordered a 9.5, and I am right where I want to be in this boot: a bit roomy with tights and a bit snug with thick socks. My calf measures 13.5 in. at the widest part, and the shaft is 15.5 in. at the top, so although there's a gap for me the shaft tapers in at the top so they don't look like buckets when I wear them with tights. Now for my wish list: I could wish for arch support (only the need to keep balanced on the heel prevents my fallen arches from turning in, but I put in those little sticky gel arch supports to good effect). I could wish the shaft was an inch taller (I'm 5 ft. 7, and I measure the shaft at the back at 15 in.). And I could wish that the heel was a little lower (I measure 3 in. at the back of the heel). But these are minor quibbles, as I am so delighted to find a boot that I can wear all day that will keep my feet dry and comfortable, while also keeping me from looking like something the cat dragged in from the rain!

Have owned these for a year now and they are fabulous! Bought these from Zappos last winter when we were in FL vacationing and spent the rest of winter, spring and even our past rainy summer in these. Believe me, they are waterproof, snow proof and warm enough for me to be out with just light tights on - not socks. I am 5'2 and wear a petite size 2, sometimes a 4 in clothes and ordered these in my regular shoe size 5 1/2 and these fit my feet and legs like a glove. Have only worn these with skinny jeans or leggings tucked in and they fit perfect without any sagging in the shaft or gwp at the top of the boot. I can walk for hours in these and love the extra height these provide. Also own the Mercedes which is a totally sexy, comfortable dressy boot. You can't go wrong with this brand or Zappos!

Truly the most perfect boot I have ever owned. 1) it is simple, yet gorgeous. 2) Can wear to work (I am attorney) and out with tights and skirt 3)it has this lining on the leg that is just so cozy on the calf you can't wait to put them on. 4) the heel height is perfect and just high enough to flattering and low enough to wear all day. Calf lifts!

I love these boots! They are my second pair of La Canadienne boots. I think they are a worthwhile investment. I am an elementary school teacher and I am on my feet all day. These boots are so comfortable and I feel professional with the heel.

I love these boots! They fit perfectly, are comfortable and waterproof. Best of all I get compliments every time I wear them, sometimes from total strangers. After one year they look like new, I hope they last forever.

These boots are beautiful and well made. The leather is gorgeous. I thought they were pretty comfortable, the only thing was that I felt pressure on my heel, but it's nothing that an insole wouldn't fix. I have very skinny calves - they measure 13 1/2" and I bought these because of the reviews saying that they fit tight at the calf. I'm among those who have been looking for nice boots that fit for years. These did fit nicely but still had about an inch of gap around my calves - that is livable for me. In fact, I kept another pair of La Canadiennes that were smooth leather. However, if you have super skinny calves and are looking for a snug fit with tights or bare legs, measure first; these might not work. The only reason I'm sending these back is that I really can't afford two pair, and I liked the fit of the smooth leather better. The suede was "puckery" down the back of the calf. All in all a very nice boot, definitely worth a try if you're looking for functional and beautiful boots.

These are very comfy, like other La Canadienne boots that I bought in the past. This is my third pair of La Canadienne boots. I am very picky with shoes because I care about comfort more than look. And I usually don't wear heels at all. The boots I bought from La Canadienne don't have heels at all so I hesitated a lot before I ordered this pair. I usually wear 6 but actually I think when it comes to boots with heels, I like to order half size down and this pair fits perfectly. I can't wear thick socks of course, but these boots are warm enough for typical San Fran rainy weather. The leather is super soft, and is very lightweight. So my feet don't get tired easily. I can wear it all day long, and of course since it has heels, and I usually don't wear boots at all, my feet feel a little bit sore after a day's walk. But these are the best boots with heel that I have ever tried on.

These boots are great -- very comfortable, super stylish and warm. I love them and receive lots of compliments on them. The suede is gorgeous. A little pricey, but totally worth it.

One word for these boots -- love! I feel like I could wear them forever. Look great with jeans, skirts, and dresses. If I had the money I'd buy them in every color available!

This boot is amazing! I was a little worried about spending this kind of money for a "comfortable" boot. I work in retail and with a typical 8 straight hours on my feet and running around I couldn't wear my other boots with my typical 3" inch heels. These boots feel like you are walking on a cloud and they are perfectly designed so you don't have added pressure on the balls of your feet and the width of the shaft is perfect for my calves. I typically have problems with the shaft as I have bigger (than normal I guess) calves. Love these boots!

Already have another pair of higher heeled La C. boots from Zappos, which I love! Wanted a slightly lower heel. For a change, first tried grey boot. I am petite with muscular calves, and a skirt wearer. From the back, not only did the grey color make my calves look wider, but the 15.25" shaft was not a flattering length. When you're petite, having the boot end about 1.5" or so below your knee will make your legs look longer. Exchanged the grey with the black. Not only did the black give me a sleeker look, the shaft was 14.5"(like my other La C boots) , much better proportion. Both Kara boots were a size 6. Super comfortable cushioned footbed. Snug fit around my calves and no ankle sagging.

Best boots I've ever bought. Have 3 pairs (gray, brown and black). Extremely comfortable (I have a small foot 6.5-7 with a wider forefoot and narrow heel) - you can work all day in them, go to dinner and they are even comfortable enough for air travel. These boots are also weather resistant! I order a size 7 in these and they are perfect - no rubbing on the heel! I am a repeat La Canadienne customer and plan to continue to be for many years. Wish Zappos carried even more styles in shoes and boots.

First of all, Zappos is the best! Stress free shopping with amazing service. The boots are great. I've always coveted La Canadienne boots but I always thought that they were too expensive. With all of the snow and cold weather we are having, I decided that my warmth and comfort would be worth the money. I bought a half size larger so I can wear an extra pair of heavy socks. I hate having cold feet! I wore them all day yesterday and they were so comfortable that I walked 1.5 miles home in the cold.

These are the most comfortable boots ever. I have "problem feet" and generally have to wear comfort shoes/boots but I wanted something stylish. I was able to wear these all day at work (I'm a 58 year old MD, on my feet all day). They're expensive, but very well made; and not to have to worry about ruining them if the weather's bad is a plus. Zappos is a pleasure to do business with. Customer service is unbelievable. I recently returned some items I had purchased and then got an email telling me I had inadvertently included a scarf (tags still on) that I had bought overseas. I had been looking all over for the scarf. They immediately shipped it to me at no cost. That's above and beyond good customer service.

Perfect tall boot for those with slim legs. The shaft is not too wide or too narrow, just the perfect shape and size. The heels are not too high making it super comfortable and at the same time elegant. The suede is soft and supple. One can easily see the quality of the suede. I find it runs true to size. This is true for all of the La Canadienne shoes/boots I have bought. And of course, Zappos is the best!

I was in the market for a suede, low-heeled boot that was comfortable yet work-appropriate. When I first tried these on, I thought the calf was too tight. I tried them on a day later, however, and even though they still felt snug, it had gotten a bit more comfortable, so I kept them. After about 5 wears, I can now say I love these boots. The snug calf has stretched out even more so they are now a very comfortable calf (I think I measure about 14 1/2 calf circum.). They are a higher heel than I originally wanted, but they are so comfortable to walk in that I don't even notice. They keep me very very warm, so are perfect for commuting in cold weather, but are still comfortable in the office too. I highly recommend them!

Great boot! Comfortable, stylish, and waterproof. I have worn this boot to work and stood in them for 5-6 hours straight. The comfort is surprising. The calf width is slimmer than many boots that I have tried this season. I am 5'10" and thought I had large calves until I started finding all of the boots to be 1-2 inches too wide. These are great. A nice fit for stockings, but can still tuck in slim leg slacks.

I decided to try La Canadienne in spite of their expensive price and now I'm so happy that I bought them!
I have a skinny legs, narrow calves, and my dream last ten years was to find suitable boots with heals to wear them with a skirt.
They are still a little wider than my calves but not as much as other boots were.
They a very comfortable and stylish.

Love these boots. The brown color is beautiful. I ended up buying a gel insole to make them super comfortable in the ankle area. They do seem to run pretty narrow in the calf area, which works perfectly for me, but may not work as well for someone else. Also, I could have gone 1/2 size smaller, but then they were tight in the ankle area and overall as well even though I am very petite. The heel is very comfortable. I just love the simple and sophisticated look of these boots.

Simply the most comfortable shoes - I walked 5 miles in them with no problem. And it's very elegant, classy and of a good quality. I even bought a second pair by La Canadienne - black suede with two metal buttons on the side. Very consistent quality and great fit!

I love these boots. They look really stylish and they were comfy right away - no break in needed. The have a little bit of a platform on the front, so the heel looks higher than it really is, which also adds to the comfort. They're really great boots -- I got lots of compliments on them. Haven't tested their waterproof properties yet -- maybe next week I'll wear them in the rain.

Every year, as the dreaded winter looms ahead, I vow to branch out and try another brand of boots on the Zappos site, but every year, I buy another pair by La C. Like their "relatives" from past seasons (all still going strong), these have it all, across the board: elegance, comfort, style (without being too trendy), durability, versatility, and are, unbelievably with this sort of look, waterproof. And yes, even with this price tag, value for money.
