I love these boots. I would get them in every color if I could afford it. I got them in the smoke because it was on sale and I love the color more then I thought I would. It is a very dark brown and it is actually more versatile than I thought it would be. I have bigger calves and they fit over them great. It took about a week of wearing them for them to break in but once broken in they are very comfortable. I don't regret spending the money at all. Can't wait to save up and get a pair in black.

Ended up with a 9 1/2 after several back and forth returns. These are beautiful, soft, classy, comfortable and fit like a glove. Love the length, heel height, straps, everything. They will travel with me to Paris this winter. I may add a gel insole for cushion.

These boots are exactly as described! After reading TONS of reviews, I decided to take the plunge and purchase these. They fit as others have indicated, with some initial discomfort and heel slipping, but have greatly improved as I continue to wear them. They are tall (I'm 5'8'' and they hit the bottom of my knee cap), and the calves are roomy which may be a problem for some with very slim legs. Overall a great investment.

Wow! I had really hoped not to like these boots, given the price. BUT, I loved them out of the box! They are remarkably soft (I expected very stiff) yet with good structure - a really beautiful leather. I could wear them without socks out of the box but tried them on with fairly thick socks, as that's how I'll wear them. I usually run 7-7.5, but got these in the 7.5 to accommodate the socks. True to many reviews, the heel slips a bit and the toe box is somewhat snug. I am assuming that time or the shoe guy can loosen the toe box just fine. I am also banking on the heel being okay after a while. I am 5'5" and not short of leg - the boot comes up over the knob of my knee and just below the kneecap. So, if you are short of leg, these may be too tall. I like the silver tone buckles - sometimes hard to find. Also, the orange interior concerned me on the site, but it is much less bright in person, a much earthier, subtler tone, that barely shows and is not at all disctracting. Lastly, I have quite narrow calves, so I tend to be awash in a lot of boots. These are still a pinch wide for my calves but as close as I've ever come to perfect for me. They can certainly work for wider calves but I would think really wide calves may have trouble. Also, I have high arches but did not have any trouble with the fit in those terms. These are lovely and I highly recommend giving them a try.

Great boot! Worth the money, it is comfortable and stays up on my skinny calves! Zappos is amazing. I love the fast shipping, and the excellent service.

I love these boots already have them in black and brown just received the green and the Color is beautiful. I have worn them to work and received many compliments. I got a bonus and just ordered the red ones. I am 5'10" and they are the perfect height and fit my wider calves great. The red ones are here and love the Colorado.

I don't write reviews often. I LOVE these boots. I got them in the antique fatigue color and I so want them in black. My calves are a bit of an issue usually but just fine with these with room for jeans easily. Calves measure 14 1/4 and these look fantastic on me. I looked at them for a very long time before I took the plunge as they cost a lot of $$$ but once I convinced myself that a great pair of boots that would be around for many many years was better than getting a pair that would fall apart or I wouldn't love as much I was glad I did it. :)

These are gorgeous boots. I am almost 6 feet tall and the boots are very tall so I thought they would be great. however, they hit me just below the kneecap and kind of dug into my kneecap. They might be better on a shorter person because they would go over the kneecap. Gorgeous in every way. Soft leather, look and feel comfortable and worth the price just a fluke on me.

All of the reviews are somewhat old. I decided to write a newer one. Purchased these for our annual Christmas trip to Europe. Gorgeous, soft, stylish. Had to send the size 9 back for a 9 1/2 but now the fit is perfect. Chose cognac (which is not a color currently offered on the Frye website) so it would match browns, blacks, greens, blues...mostly everything. Read all the reviews about heel slippage but remember these are riding style with no zipper. You have to be able to get them on and off. Socks or inserts take care of the problem. Overall, can't wait to wear.

I love these boots. I ordered the whiskey color, and they are gorgeous. The soft smooth/shine finish on the leather is amazing. It hides little scuffs and scratches well. I have a 15" calf, and they fit perfect. They do run a hint small through the tow box, so I went up a half size. I will wear these boots lots. They go with everything. They are pricey, but so worth it.

Love the boots & style! I'm so in love with them. I have wide feet & big calves and they fit perfectly. I have two other Frye boots in "Extended" size but these are a perfect fit, even have room for jeans!

Purchasing boots online (especially Frye boots) is absolutely impossible without reading other reviews, so that is why I am writing this one. I relied heavily on reading others before I jumped in and purchased my first pair of Frye boots and I want to do my part. First, my stats, I am 5'7, wear size 8-10 in clothes, size 8.5 shoes with 15.5 inch calves (8 inch ankles), so with that you see that tall boots are always a gamble, but I adore tall boots. So, I refuse to give up. I know everyone assumes those of us with bigger calves are just bigger gals, but that is just not the case (not that I don't think every woman's body is beautiful, no matter the size). But I have always had muscular calves and honestly always loved my legs. I never thought they were even on the big size until I started my journey into tall boot land. I was shocked. So, I cautiously ordered two pairs of Fryes size 8.5, the first pair was the new style the Lindsay zip with Logo (these had no reviews yet, my first mistake). But these were so regal looking in the photos with the laser logo, I had to take a chance even without reviews. To be safe, I called the Frye company and asked them if the calves should fit on the Lindsay. Here is a warning to all, the actual Frye company itself didn't know the true measurements. They advised that a size 6 in the Lindsay zip was 15 inches and so a size 8.5 should be 16 inches or more. On that I ordered them full price, they were very wrong. The Lindsay's were 14 inches and I could barely zip them and did leaving blisters on my fingers from pulling. Very frustrating. They are now at a cobbler to see if they can stretch them. Okay, now for the Dorado's. Oh my, what a difference! I got these second and so was already sure they wouldn't fit. But, praise all, they literally slipped right on with a bit of wiggle room around the leg! Honestly, there is something special about the Dorados and even the Frye customer service gal praised the Dorados saying this was one of their "best boots" and on this point alone she was right on. They fit absolutely perfectly on my foot and leg. These are very tall boots, they even overlap the bottom of my knee a bit. Now I will address the heel slippage brought up in some reviews. I think that is because these do run a bit large. I say that because my right foot is closer to a size 9, my left a true 8.5. My right size 9 foot fits perfectly, no heel slippage at all, however, my left size 8.5 does have a slight slipping of the heel, not enough to bother me, but some may be annoyed. So, if you hate that heel slipping you may want to order a half size smaller. Now the color I purchased was the Antique Charcoal and the only photo online that has the correct color is Zappos! All the other photos show the color as a light gray, it is not light, it is a dark charcoal gray antiqued with black. I love the color, because it is not black, definitely gray, but dark gray not light grayish taupe at all. Everyone's praise for Frye is completely justified. Even the Lindsay boots were so gorgeous, quality above any boot I have ever owned. The trick is getting the right boot for your foot. Also, everyone's praise for Zappos is right as well. No online company ships as fast or provides the same ease of ordering. Long Live Zappos!

This is the most beautiful boot I have ever seen, I have to return because I have an oddly short lower leg, otherwise I love these boots so much I would sleep in them.

I love these boots so much, I repurchased them in a second color. They are sleek, classic, and durable, and can be dressed up or down. I've gotten many compliments on these boots and definitely see them being a permanent fixture in my wardrobe.

My husband bought these boots for me for Valentine's Day after I debated spending that much money for two (long, wasted) years. I absolutely love these boots. I wear them with jeans and skirts/dresses. I wear an 8½ and they fit perfectly. I love my Dorados! As always, Zappos delivers.

Okay, I am probably certifiable, but I now own two pairs of Frye Dorado riding, one in gray, one in black and one in burn a burnished brown. I love them, I find them to be extremely stylish and comfortable, with a bit of slippage in the heel that is easily corrected with thicker socks. Although I do wear nylons with them, as well. I love Frye boots!

Let me start by saying Zappos is my go to shoe site. With that being said I did not buy them from Zappos only because they did not have my size in the color I wanted. I purchased the Bordeaux color and could not love them anymore. They were a perfect fit right out of the box. The heel does slip a little but once the sole is softened they will be fine. Soft leather rich look. Pricey but Frye will outlast any boot out there.

Bought these for my girlfriend. Great boot, she really likes them. Top is not a snug fit since no zipper and need to be able to get them on/off. Great looking boot. The report is based on her comments. Excellent service.

If I could afford them, I would buy these boots in about 4 different colors. They are the unicorn of boots...absolutely perfect flat boot. They fit true to size (maybe a touch big) in the foot. I usually wear between a 10 and 11 and the 10 fits me well. They have a nice wide calf. I am 5'10 and wear a size 32 jeans and these can be worn with legging or with jeans without being too tight...love. Worth the money (as most Frye boots are).

High boot, comes just below my knee. It is roomy in the calf, but I find that all the boots this season seem to be. I put it on and immediately wore it all day. Aside from comfort, it is gorgeous! Soft, supple leather. Loving it! Love the leather sole; will repair when necessary and keep this boot for years.

This boot is beautiful. My calves are a little bit bigger than average and they fit perfectly with just a bit of wiggle room. I'm 5'1", and they come up to my knee. If I put some inserts, their perfect. Love them!

Gorgeous X 5! Classy, classic fine leather. I have somewhat wide calves and these fit beautifully over leggings and slim jeans. I'm 5'2" and wanted something that came right up to my knee. These are perfect. I am waiting for delivery of Dorado Woven and can't wait for those, too. You get what you pay for, and these are worth every penny. I wear size 7 1/2--8 and the 7 1/2 is perfect. A bit of heel slippage but that had stopped within a few hours.

These Frye boots are quality footwear. They are true to the online color and fit true to size. Boots normally slip a bit around the heel...simply wear socks! I have gotten plenty of compliments and even more enviable looks while wearing these. I love them so much I bought another pair in black...and bought my daughter a pair of Frye's for Christmas. They are simply the best!
