These are gorgeous boots, and I, too really dithered over spending that kind of money for one pair of boots. The sad fact, tho, is that no-one else is making a simple, classic riding boot. They are beautiful, elegant, the perfect length (I'm 5'5) and look stunning with skirts and dresses. I am totally picturing myself at 70 still looking damn hot in these, so that's how I justify the money! I got the dark brown and they are going with everything, black, charcoal, khaki, gray, navy. Basically, a very versatile style and color. I strongly recommend buying either your regular size or a half size up. I bought a half size smaller (mainly because of the reviews, also because Zappos didn't have my size) and they were really tight, length and width. After checking with Zappos to make sure they weren't getting my size in, I ordered my regular size 7.5, from another website. They are still a bit tight across the width but because the length is OK (just) I'm going to stick with these. I'm wearing them around the house with thick socks to try and stretch them out a bit, if that doesn't work I'll have them stretched properly. As to the heel slippage, if you have worn cowboy boots, you'll know that that eases up after a while. I am already noticing improvement. Thank you Zappos for the immaculate amd as always service.

I absolutely love these boots. I resisted buying them for over a year, but I am so happy with them I hardly wear anything else! They were a really great purchase. I feel that they run a tad on the larger side, so if you are deciding between sizes, go smaller!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these boots. Hesitated in ordering because of price, but there was only 1 left in my size so grabbed it. They fit beautifully, and were comfortable from the first day. I typically wear 7.5, ordered that, and feel the fit is true to size. The heel does 'slip' a little, but I think its the type/fit of the boot (have other frye styles, and they all are a little loose rather than hugging the foot). Wore twice for shorter periods of time, then took them to NYC and wore them over several days with no discomfort. Continue to find them extremely comfortable - wear with tights or thin socks and need no more padding. Now... to justify them in another color! ;D

These boots are a well made classic and fit beautifully. I bought my normal 6.5 and my heel slipped so I bought the size 6 and wore them around the house only to find I love them without socks! Because they are all leather made, my feet can breathe! I got so many compliments I ordered another pair and also a pair for my daughter! Zappos is amazing and so customer service responsive! Keep up the good work Zappos!

These boots are FAB!!! The leather is a beautiful rich brown. Such a classic style I will probably wear them forever. They do run 1/2 size large though. I ordered the size 9 at first and then had to return for the 8.5.

If you are considering buying these boots, hesitate no more! They are worth every single penny. In my opinion, these look like very expensive custom-made riding boots that can cost over twice the price of these Frye. They look gorgeous with skirts, pants, jeans, and even dresses! They are roomy enough at the top that you can tuck in a pair of jeans. The quality is superb and I’m certain that they will last well over 10 years if I take good care of them. The style is timeless and I’ve gotten numerous compliments whenever I wear them. They do run big - I usually wear a 6.5, but I purchased a 6 and found them still large in the heel; I added a heel support orthotic to prevent my heel from moving around within the boot when I’m wearing tights.

I first purchased the Frye Dorado Riding Boots in spice. When they arrived and I put them on my feet, I knew I was going to buy another pair. So, I ordered a pair in burgundy. When I’m out anywhere, people are either complimenting the boots or they’re staring at them. Having worked with leather and have made shoes and garments, I know good leather when I see and touch it. What I like about these boots is that they have a refined ruggedness both in appearance and in quality. They’re leather lined and very comfortable. If asked where I got them, I always refer them to Zappos.

Dorado wonderful - I just received them today and they fit great I hardly had to break them in. Very east to get on and off. I am so pumped; thanks again. I have a wide calf and they fit beautifully. I might purchase the dark brown ones later.

These boots are beautiful and sexy and comfortable. Gorgeously made, they fit like a dream and weigh next to nothing. I just wish the fall would hurry up and arrive so I could wear them more often! One note is that these Fryes don't run large like many do. I'm a solid 8.5 and I had to return the 8s I had originally ordered for 8.5s, which fit perfectly.

I previously rated these blades poorly because I could not get them to stop hurting my feet. After more than a year, I figured out the trick: I adjusted the frame to the outside of each blade. Now I love them! I have no trouble with my feet even after blading for over an hour. They are fast and the bigger wheels are very forgiving of hitting small stones or sticks in the road. These are my second pair of Rollerblades and I highly recommend them. Please disregard my previous rating!

Wow - even more beautiful in person - Love these boots - they are a welcome addition to the family. Excellent quality, nicer than other Frye boots I have had. Gorgeous line - comfortable, easy to get on and off (even given pull on style); it IS possible to wear these when flying commercial and slip them on/off at security to avoid packing. Returned the Marc Jacobs because these were so very much more attractive. Fit is similar to other Frye items - a bit larger than average shoe from other makers (true to size for Frye). Might slip in the heel w/o socks or insert; trade-off is that these boots will continue to fit even after walking all day and most of the evening at food & wine fest. 12 straight hours of compliments. Lovely!

PERFECT - I have been looking forever for tall riding boots. I am tall, 5'9' and also have very small calves so it was difficult to find a boot that would fit well. However, these are absolutely perfect and the way they are made, I can see them fitting just as well on many other body types. My jeans fit well under them with room. Usually I wear a size 9, but these in 8.5 were just right. These look even better on than you can imagine...

Amazing - Love these boots. Maybe get a 1/2 size bigger to fit comfy socks. But other then that they're amazing.

Frye Dorado Riding Boot - I love this boot! You can dress it up or down. Pair it with you favorite denim, dress, or try a pencil skirt and tucked in blouse for the office. The color words with black or brown and the leather is the perfect balance; just stiff enough to stand up tall, soft enough to keep the blisters away. They are a little stiff when you try them on the first time, but I wore them around the house for 10 minutes and they broke in very fast. I am so pleased with this purchase and Zappos upgraded my shipping to overnight! Amazing!

Expensive...but worth it - The boots are beautiful. Truly the look of an authentic riding boot, but fashionable enough for daily wear. Very well made, fit true to size (I'm a 9.5). Love love love.

Love 'em - Love everything about this boot! Except that it ran about a 1/2 to a full size smaller than marked. I got the boot stretched out and they fit better but are still too snug but I love them so much...no pain no gain, they will eventually stretch over time anyway.

When I received these boots, I was a little surprised. I didn't pay attention to the measurements on the website and they ended up being both taller and wider than I thought. They do go all the way up to the knee, which I didn't know. This wasn't really a problem, though, because I still liked them. As for the fit, they felt very true to size. I wear a size 10 and my foot is on the narrow side-- the 10s fit perfectly. I was glad of this because I almost bought a half-size down by recommendation, but I feel they would have been too tight. I agree with the other reviews, these boots are totally worth the price!

FANTASTIC BOOTS! I as well agonized over the price tag of these boots, but do not regret my purchase now. I love them- they look great with jeans and leggings. They do run a little big, the other Frye boots I own are a half a size larger. I did need to have these stretched in the front width area- they are narrow. I also noticed that these boots were made in Spain not like the rest of the Frye boots I own which were made in china and therefore were less expensive.

YES!!! I agonized over spending the money on these, but I had my first pair of Frye boots in high school through college. Wore them for YEARS, and loved them. After a week of online boot shopping, looking at other boots, I decided that I just had to have them. And I am glad I did. Beautiful and well crafted, comfortable and much more my style, than high heel, tight fitting boots. Look great with anything except maybe a cocktail dress!

Riding boot - I normally wear a 9.5, but the size 9 fits well. In fact it's roomy enough for a thick sock. Comfort and quality are excellent and boot is exactly what I wanted in a stylish riding boot.

Heel slippage - So, I'm madly in love with the look and quality of these boots. Unfortunately, when I walk in them, my heel slips up a bit each step causing a rubbing that I just know would be a problem long term, so I'm returning them. It might just be that I need a smaller size, but I kinda think it is just the boot.

Looking Good - I purchased these boots to go with my kilted skirt and wear to an event that had a lot of walking. They made a real statement - the look is fabulous. I am a 3-inch heel person and I thought a boot with a heel would be sexier but after trying these on with the outfit, the knee high length pulls the look off comfortably and sexy. Even though the fit was exact, my heel pulled up just enough to rub; while I was aware of the friction, it was nothing that made a blister and I walked all day long in them the first day. Now I wear short socks with them. They are worth every dollar, all 400 of them. The leather is soft and it is not too tight around the calf. No zippers so the look is continuously clean. A very sharp looking boot.
