Just received my boots today, and wow! Really nice. They fit perfect, which is funny, just tried the Billy Short boot in the same size and they were a full size smaller in length, also very wide. These pups are a little roomy but not overly so. The bummer is I won't dare wear these anytime soon, as it is very rainy and muddy out. Not your foul weather boot. Too pretty!

Beautiful boot! Excellent quality, style, and comfort. I ordered an 8 and found it to be a half size too big. Keep in mind (if any of you wear Uggs) that the leather will stretch over time. My heel slipped out of the 8's so I will order a 7.5. Anyone who gave this product a poor review doesn't know true style or quality. Timeless.

Love them right out of the box! Just received these. I had been a little concerned they would fit small based on some feedback. They did not - absolutely true to size. Usually wear a 7 - 7 fits like a glove. Superior quality - I can tell these will last for years! Super comfortable, just the right shade of worn-looking brown (full grain leather). Super versatile and stylish. Worth the price, no question! Highly recommended!

In most other shoes/boots I wear a size 9. I have, in the past, always had to go down a half size for Frye allowing me to wear an 8.5. I bought the nine because all other reviews said they were true to size or a bit small. When I received the 9, they were too large and like usual when the 8.5 arrived at my door - it fit perfectly. If you have wide feet it might be different but if your feet are regular width you will be fine buying the size you normally do with Frye. The toe box is not square so my toes have tons of room in the 8.5, and there is still room for thick socks. They are great boots and Frye is superior to all other brands because they are all leather and only leather conforms to the natural shape of your foot as you wear them and they become yours. These are true to Frye's sizes, but still the half size larger than other brands.

Love these boots. They have a slightly "edgy" look but are still very classy and go great with leggings, jeans and casual skirts and dresses. Because they are a shorter boot, knee socks peeking over the top of the boot looks cute when you wear skirts. They are very comfortable, flexible and well constructed, and I feel they run true to size.

I was looking for an everyday boot and gave these a try and I couldn't be happier with them. They didn't require any breaking in time for me, they were perfectly comfortable right out of the box. They appear well made, the sole is nice and sturdy, and I hope to get years of wear out of them. They run true to size with enough room for thicker socks in cold weather. I've always worn a 9 but these days so many shoes run bigger so I often end up with an 8 1/2. But the size 9 fit just fine. There are plenty of other boots in this style, but the quality is the real difference.

I have been looking for the right pair of boots for two years and these are just perfect. Right out of the box I wore them all day with no problem. I wear an 8 and bought an 8; they are true to size. These boots are the best and built to last. Go for it!

I have admired Frye boots for awhile. Got some birthday money and decided to treat myself. I couldn't decide between the Veronica Shortie and the Engineer Boot. I ordered both. I kept the Veronica. I liked the soft leather better and the heel style. The Engineer Boot rubbed on my leg. The black is kind of a muted black almost gray, but I think it looked great. They seem true to size to me; I wear 6 in shoes but 6 1/2 with boots and tennis shoes, so the 61/2 worked. I had to side with comfort and went with the Veronica. These boots are hot; treat yourself.

I ordered an 8.5 and a 9 in these boots because I was unsure about the fit. The 9 was too long, but the 8.5 seemed a bit tight. Lastly I went with the 8.5 and had the boots stretched by a cobbler. They are perfect now and extremely comfortable. Highly recommended!

Beautiful boots. Fit true to size. (I ordered a 7.5 and 8, just to see.) As other reviewers have noted, they are little large in the heel, but I find boot socks take care of any sock slippage. After a month, the leather is softening up and taking on a lovely patina.

Another great Frye boot and another speedy Zappos delivery! Cognac color is a beautiful shade of warm tan that goes with everything from jeans to dresses. Fit is true to size; a bit tight at first, but after 5-6 wearings fits like a glove.

These boots rock with a cool pair of jeans. Found them to be pretty true to size, but as with other Frye boots I've purchased they tend to have a bit of heel slippage. Heel inserts take care of that if it bothers you. The more you wear them the better they look.

Awesome boots! Never thought I'd pay this much for a pair, but I would buy another pair. Comfortable, first time I wore them, it was all day at work and no problem! Heel is slightly loose, but no problem with socks on.

I really love this style! I have a pair in a different color that I got years ago and still love them. The ones I just purchased seem a little narrower, but perhaps they just need to be broken in.

These fit great, length-wise. However, they are a little narrow in the toe area. All of my Frye boots are 9.5s, and these seemed slightly more narrow in the toe than my other pairs. They’re still fairly comfortable, and they look adorable with skinny jeans. I’m keeping them, and hope they’ll stretch a little as I wear them.

I WANTED to love these boots, being the first pair of coveted Frye boots I've ever ordered. And Zappo's had them at a great price. Don't get me wrong, they are a beautiful boot, obviously well made, and felt true to size (I wear 8.5 and that's what I ordered). For the short time I had them on, I noticed my heel coming up off the bed of the shoe, as other reviewers noted, but that wasn't my main concern. The leather on the shaft was soft and did have a vintage look, but the rest of the boot was just really plain, and worn with jeans, would look like any other black shoe. Since I wanted something unique, back they go. I'll keep shopping. Thanks Zappos for such a generous return policy.

I ordered these shortie boots and also the engineer 15's, wasn't sure which I liked and have never ordered Frye boots before! Read lots of reviews and decide to order size 9 - I wear sneakers in 8.5 and 9 in most other shoes. The 9 was too big in the shorties, also felt too wide in the foot bed, okay width in the shaft. The shorties are beautiful boots but I didn't care for how floppy, super soft, the boot shaft Is, too slouchy for me. Both boots went right on, no problem, so maybe I am an 8.5 in Fryes. The engineers fit and felt better on me, I have narrow feet with 13.5" calves. Loved the engineers, the are stiffer, but I think they will last longer, which is part of what I'm looking for! Have never spent this much on boots, but after trying several other brands, decided to give Frye a try, so glad I did! I can only afford one pair, so will be returning the shortie and keeping the engineer. Thanks for all the helpful reviews and for zappos great customer service!

I ordered multiple sizes of the Slate Burnished Antiqued. First, they are noticeably smaller than the same size in the Soft Vintage Leather, which run large. I would either go up a half size in the Slate Burnished or would need to just wear thin socks and stretch them in my regular size. In the Soft Vintage colors, I definitely went down a half size. The Slate Burnished Antique is a great color -- a lovely "worn" taupe without all the white shading shown in the photograph. But the quality of the leather was very inconsistent over the three pair I tried (trying to get the sizing and comfort to work). The leather in the Burnished Antique was much rougher and stiffer than the Soft Vintage, and also had a seem down the center of the heel cup that the Soft Vintage did not have. Weird place to put a seam and sure to rub blisters, at least on me. Too bad these were uncomfortable and stiff, as the color was just what I wanted.

This is a beautiful boot that is on the dressy side of casual and will probably last a decade. The black pebbled leather with suede shaft is really nice. I am only returning them because my heel slips, pulling my sock down. I am typically a size 11 and wish Frye made 10.5 in these boots. I tried a size 10 in the slouch style at a local store and my heel would not stay put in those either. The top of the shaft is larger than most boots of this height, so skinny jeans would fit in them. The shaft is a little bit large for underneath a narrow bootcut, but works.

I have a high arch and was worried I'd be unable to get my foot in these boots (I've had this problem with other Frye styles). But, these slipped on with ease! Very stiff and tight across the top of my feet, but seems to be loosening up. Also, the heels slip when I walk, rub like crazy, and give me blisters. I'm hoping this will stop as they break-in. Awesome looking and high quality. Hopefully, once these break-in I'll wear them for years.

This is a really great quality boot, worth the price, just not quite right for me. I'm 5'3" with athletic but average sized calves. The shaft on these is wide and very rigid -- it hit me right below my calf, completely covering the ankle area, making my legs look shorter and heavier than they are. I've seen engineer style boots like these paired with skirts and/or leggings and they look great -- most likely this look works with someone that has longer legs. On me they looked mannish and heavy -- not flattering at all. They run a little small. I ordered a half size up and they fit just fine.

I made the mistake of listening to reviews on this one and ordered a half size up which I had to return. These boots run tight across the top of the foot. I have narrow feet and will have to get them stretched. But they are true to size from heel to toe.

I really wanted these boots to work! I want boots that I can wear under slim-cut and straight-leg jeans, but the opening around the ankle gaps too much. I also had a hard time getting it off and on without a zipper, and I have just an average arch. No way to loosen the buckle over the arch of the boot. Sadly, they're going back.
