I thought a long time about these boots. My sisters rave about them. I found them to run a bit narrow in the toe area, I have average width feet. I will return them. I am looking for something to go with jeans and skirts and these will only go with jeans.

I love the way these boots look and they are really quality boots. I love that they fit my narrow feet but they are too tight on the top of my foot (saddle bone). Also, the height is a little awkward because of my super skinny ankles. I'm going to return them and try a different Frye boot.

I love the way these boots look! I got them in the dark brown vintage color and it's a lovely color that goes with everything. I'm a true size 8, but got a half size down with these. There is still a little heel slippage, but not too bad. These have been literally a pain to break in! I've worn them about 5 times now and they're finally starting to feel comfortable. So, don't be discouraged by the pain and discomfort at first. My one major complaint about these boots (besides the break in time) is that while the leather looks nice and of good quality, the boots get marked up and scrape quite easily. Like I said, I've worn them about 5 times and have already noticed quite a few scuffs and scrapes at the toes, heels, inside of the heels. Overall though, a lovely boot that should last for years.

Gorgeous. Gorgeous. Boot. So, I ordered this boot to replace another pair of riding boots that I had bought from a so-called "luxury" leather goods company. Those cost $325 with a discount coupon and fell apart within the first month. I came to Zappos looking for something of a higher quality with the same kind of style. I wasn't specifically thinking of ordering a Frye boot but I've always heard that Frye boots are where it's at. My one sort of difficulty in placing this order online was that I wasn't totally sure where the boot would hit on my leg. I have a very large calf so I need to be careful about boot height. I measured the 8-inch shaft height on my leg with a bare foot, but it's hard to know exactly where to start from (the floor? the approximate top of the low heel of the boot?) I wished that there would have been a picture of someone WEARING the boot. It was the first time I'd ever thought of a feature where Zappos may not be exceeding my expectations! I searched to find images of people wearing the boot and based on those, I decided to order. Still, when it arrived, gorgeous as the boot is, I wished it went like one inch higher. As it is, it stops JUST below my calf and is very loosely encircling that part of my leg (which I like). The boot is BEAUTIFUL; the dark brown color is just to die for, the perfect shade of rubbed dark brown. Everything about it was so beautiful, in fact, that I knew I had to keep it, even though it doesn't exactly replace the earlier boot I had to return. So, I kept them and I am wearing them today. They are REMARKABLY comfortable and I am getting used to the idea of the lower height. My main thing is to wear boots with dresses (which I am doing today) and I wasn't totally sure this would work but as I go about my business today I am getting lots of compliments and when I catch a glimpse of the overall silhouette in a window or mirror, I feel it is working. And who knows, with Zappos easy return policy, maybe I will try the taller version of this boot (the Veronica Slouch) and see if it works with my large calf. As always, a splendid experience shopping from Zappos, with incredibly quick delivery and outstanding service. LOVE YOU ZAPPOS. PLEASE TEACH THE REST OF THE WORLD TO BE JUST LIKE YOU.

Super everyday boot - What it lacks in immediate comfort it makes up in looks. Frye seems to focus more on styling than immediate comfort, which, for some of us who don't mind taking the time to break our shoes in, is fine. Is that old-fashioned? Eventually this boot will conform to my foot which the more cushy shoes never really seem to. I love the look and if Frye boots were less expensive would probably own one in every style.

A little pricey but still a good buy - This is a nice looking boot but as a previous review said the heel tends to be a bit loose and made my heels raw on the first wearing. A slightly thicker sock seems to solve the problem and makes the shoe quite comfortable. Well constructed and great styling makes it a solid 4 stars.

Hip & Classic Boots - Soft leather with gentle slouch - stays firmly up but with a little rumpled appearance. These look adorable with tights and a skirt or skinny pants, even for an over 40 sort such as myself. My normal size fits perfectly except for a little loose in the heel. My feet tend towards the narrow side of medium width, so I am accustomed to this. Can even be worn sockless!

My feet measure 6.5 but I always buy boots in a 7 to allow for heavy socks: these are very snug across front of my foot, behind my toes. I feel a lot of pressure there that could just mean I need to break them in, but I'm unwilling to suffer the discomfort in the meantime. Too bad as I love the soft leather.

I really wanted to love these boots, but they were too slouchy and messy looking for me. I have the tall ones and those are great, they're slouchy too but they stay up because the widest part hits the calves (also the widest part) so it works out. With these, the widest part hits the ankle and they just slouch over. Would be fine with jeans but not if I ever want to wear with a skirt or leggings. Returned and will look for other styles.

I was hoping this style of Frye boots was a little wider than the dress, but were not. I wish Frye made a W width because their boots are so well made and stylish. Maybe one day!

This is my first FRYE PURCHASE but I have been wanting one of there Moto style boots FOREVER and I am 62 years old. But a QUALITY MOTO BOOT like this is timeless and it will never go out of style. The leather in this BOOT is GORGEOUS, SO SOFT! I live in the south so I wanted a pull on, no zippers easy to put on and this BEAUTY FITS the BILL. I usually wear a 9 in most shoes but after wearing it around the house and a lot of heel slippage I am going to try the 8.5. They seemed a little long for a 9 but maybe they allow for a thick sock to be worn with them. I read what the review said from the FRYE LADY that the heel will create a cup and fit better later but I think I may need a smaller size and just need to try. I usually take a M in shoes but I think my feet lean toward narrow. But I had no trouble easily pulling these on and off. I think after seeing these and the quality they are that they are well worth the price. I know I will wear these for years.

I'm a lover of Frye boots, but these just aren't on par with my previous Frye purchases (the Celia X Stitch boots are possibly my best shoe buy, ever). I'm surprised to see so many reviews that advise ordering a half-size up. I usually wear a 7.5 or an 8 and got an 8 in these, and my heels slip a ton unless I wear very thick socks. In the past, I've been able to wear Frye boots for long walks straight out of the box, but these gave me major blisters on day one. I'm gradually breaking them in, but the back is thick and hard and taking a long time to soften up. I considered returning these (unprecedented for me for a frye purchase!) but wore them enough on the first day that the soles no longer looked like new. I do like the way they look, just bummed I can't wear them for any sort of distance walking. I hope ultimately they do break in so that will change. The process is taking longer than I would have expected. Note: the opening on these boots is very wide.

I wanted to love these, but they are too bulky and clunky for my somewhat skinny legs. I felt like I was schlepping around in puddle jumpers! They are also quite heavy. The color and the quality were great, but these were not for me. I ordered the Frye Shirley Strappy short instead and love them!

I was so excited to get these, but they hurt my feet. I normally wear a size 8, so that is what I ordered, but they are about a whole size too big. Also, the right boot is larger! So they are going back. I was really surprised at how uncomfortable they are! My feet are really narrow and bony, so maybe that has something to do with it.

A rare miss from Frye - First of all, I LOVE Frye boots! I got the patent ones in slate. The leather was not of the quality I've come to expect from Frye. They’re decent looking boots, but I didn't find the style to be particularly versatile. Great with leggings and skirts, but the cuff is too high and wide to wear under bootcut jeans. They were REALLY comfortable, but I did end up returning them.

Nice boot, but very uncomfortable. Nope, that boot doesn't work for me! It has a great look, but despite I had it in my exact size. The Bootleg is definitely too wide, even at the heel; walking around gave me an inconvenient slippy feeling. Sorry, it's a great looking and it's true to the size, but it doesn't promise what it looks like.

I’ve only tried them on - but horribly uncomfortable so far. Heal and front area of shoe are extremely narrow (my feet are being pinched and squashed from top - and I never need to order wide shoes). I would really love to keep these because I got them on such a good sale - but I meant for these to be everyday boots and I don’t think they’re suited for it.

I should have sized down in these boots. I wear and 8.5 and got the 8.5. Overall they're pretty clunky and the traction is terrible. I slipped many times in them. They wore down a bit faster because they were a bit too large and slipped in the heel when i walk. I kept them because i planned on wearing thicker socks in the winter. If I wear thick socks with them they're okay, but still not the most comfortable boot. They're so heavy so if i wear them all day it feels like such a workout on my calves and legs. Not sure if i'll get them resoled. They have a more of a 'pirate' look than moto if that makes any sense.

I was excited about these shoes after reading all the reviews. I was disappointed when I received them. I didn't like that they remind me of motorcycle boots and they didn't fit. I ordered a 7 and 7.5. The 7 was too small width wise and the 7.5 was too big. I have a slender foot so that’s saying a lot if they are tight on my skinny foot. I was looking for the perfect boot and these weren't it for me.

What a disappointment! I had read all the reviews and was so looking forward to giving these a try and was horrified when they finally arrived. The "vintage tumble" finish felt really cheap, as though someone had attacked the leather with a wire brush, and the fit was far too narrow (I have never needed wide shoes). Because these aren't made in wide, I had to send them back and now happily wear a pair of Ariats. Really bummed, but honestly these weren't worth the money.

Too clunky, poor design - I usually wear a size 8, but I read that Frye recommends going up a half size. I did that, and the boot was too large. It was also too stiff, with minimal arch support, and almost no padding on the insole. I must have slender calves because the shaft of the boot was also much too loose - even with the buckle strap to cinch it in. And speaking of buckle strap, the straps were only glued (not stitched) and one of the lower straps had already started to split apart. There was really nothing about this boot that tempted me to try the smaller size.

The toe compartment was unbelievably small and tight across my foot, then my heel would slip from the back. They were the right size, so I was surprised when it didn't work out. I love the style and I'm disappointed.

These were horrible on me. I couldn’t shove my foot into the bottom of the boot without willful force. Once I got it on my foot it was so extremely tight and uncomfortable, it felt like I ordered 3 sizes too small. I don’t own any “wide” shoes, even though my feet are borderline, and these were SO narrow and tight. I didn’t even question if I wanted to put on the other and walk around in them. HORRIBLE.

This is the boot that I wanted! Without a doubt...I read all the reviews and was so excited to receive them. Very prompt. When I tried them on, it felt like my right sock was bunching after I slipped my foot down in the boot. What I discovered was a small piece of tape on the instep. So I removed it. Unfortunately, under the tape was a small arrow shaped hole. So, I called customer service, and they were very apologetic. She ordered a new pair to replace the defective ones right away. The second pair arrived the next day and round two was worse. The right boot had a 'chip' of coloring missing from the top tip of the boot. You couldn't not notice it. And upon further inspection of the same boot, there was a 'slit' or gouge on the outside molding near the inside at the back near the heel. Talk about disappointed! Both boots went back to Zappos and I placed an order from Nordstroms. Service was great, quality of product, leaves a lot to be desired.

I have never been so disappointed in a pair of boots! I coveted these Veronicas for a couple of years before finally deciding to cough up the enormous amount of money they cost because I had a pair of similar (much cheaper) boots of another brand that I wore constantly and they finally wore out. I figured if I wore them so much, it would be worth the money for a pair of Fryes that should last years and years. I'm so frustrated because I've worn them many times and they still hurt my feet immensely - from the flat and uncomfortable foot bed to the blisters they give me on my heels. I've tried and tried to break them in and they're still so uncomfortable 9 months later. This is unforgivable in a shoe that cost so much, but since I've used them, I can't return them and it's been a huge waste of money! I wish I could say I loved them, but I'm sad to report they are just awful. Will never risk Frye again.
