This is my second pair of these boots. ( My other pair is brown) I have a wide foot and am therefore very difficult to fit in shoes. I have always been a fan of Fryes but found them to be very hard soled, heavy and just generally not comfortable enough to warrant the price. When I found my brown pair last year, I was instantly amazed at how I was able to wear them all day from the start. So I spent the last year considering LOTS of pairs in black but when I saw the great price for these, I thought I would go ahead and get them. I have already worn them several times and just like the brown, I can wear them all day and be comfortable. I am a true size 7, bought the 7 and even wear them with wool socks.

I have to disagree with all the comments and recommendations about sizing on this boot. This is important because these boots are expensive. By following the comments, I cost myself a lot of money for a pair of boots I can't wear. I wear a 7. Always a 7. I've bought 84,000 pairs of shoes, boots, sandals in my life and for the most part, if I got a 7.5 they ended up to be big on either first wear or shortly after. So I ordered a 7 in these boots. I could not even get my foot into them. I did actually squish my foot in with a bare foot once but that hurt a lot and for a few panicky moments I thought I would not get them off (there is no zipper). So, I sent them back and got a 7.5. While I could get my foot into the 7.5, I could tell they were tight in the heel (and a bit in the width but no biggie). The huge problem here is that cup for the heel. It digs into the back of my foot, to the point of causing bloody blisters. I went with the comments and kept them thinking somehow a miracle would happen and they would "break in" to the point where they would "cup to my foot". Nope. I have a pair of expensive boots I cannot wear. Love to sit there and look at them because they are very cute (dark charcoal antiqued color), but every single time I try to wear them, bloody mess. It takes several days for that kind of damage to heal before I can walk right again. So not recommended. Then the color was discontinued from Zappos, so recently I bought the black waxy ones...in an 8. Never in my life have I ever had to wear an 8. But, they fit. Sure they are a little loose but with the way the boot is styled, they still hug my feet. I feel like they make my feet look a little big - because I do not wear an 8. But they are very comfortable. They are not stretching out. They fit. End of story. I can actually walk around the mall all day in these. Total comfort. Great quality boot, so 5 stars. Great support, lovely leather, nice traction, I'm still waiting for the shaft to slouch but I can tell that will happen after they break in. I might heat them up with a blow dryer and use a chip clip to hold them in the slouch position overnight and see if that helps. The "soft" colors have more of a slouch from the start. I recommend you go with your bigger half size that you trend toward, then add another half size up. Or like me, if you never trend to a bigger half size, order a whole size bigger, along with your half size bigger. Order both, return the ones that dig into your heel. Zappos has great returns.

This is my fifth pair of Frye boots and I absolutely love them all, especially this Veronica Shortie. You can wear them with almost anything and as always the Frye brand is exceptional quality. For me, I am a size 7½ and that is exactly what fits me in the Frye boots. I am already trying to decide the color of my next pair of Frye Shorties. They may seem pricey to some people but you just cannot beat the Frye brand or styles and they last forever. Of course, Zappos is pretty awesome too with their great, over the top service. They are both awesome!

I love these boots. I got them in spice which is a beautiful light color and perfect for all season wear. They are very soft and therefore a little slouchy. They also run about a .5 size large because my heel kept slipping out when I walked in them. I have ordered a smaller size now. They are quite comfortable in the toe area. Mainly I love the height and color. I will wear them bare legged with shorts and skirts but of course they will be fine with skinny jeans too. Because they are loose fitting in the leg, I am thinking how nice it will be to bunch up some chunky leg warmers into them in them when I travel to colder climates. I also think the loose fit will be nice for weather that is a little on the warmer side. Finally a boot that I think will work well for Florida winters as well as colder climates!

Love these boots. Comfort from the moment I put them on. Soft leather uppers with just enough shading in the coloring. Goes with everything!

The 7 1/2 fit my 7 1/2 foot nicely, as did the other 7 1/2 pair I tried. Both thin and thicker socks work. Nice looking, high quality boot which did not need breaking in. Bought the dark brown (vintage brush off), which is a rich and very versatile color that goes with navy, black and brown.

I got these boots (in dark brown) for Christmas from my boyfriend, I'm a 6.5 and they fit true to size and I can wear them with a thick wool socks and they don't feel snug. I didn't have any break-in period with them and I found them to be really comfortable, even after being on my feet all day long in the kitchen. Great boots!

I tried to buy these on Zappos in the slate color. For my color/size combination there was only one left, and when I decided to take the plunge they were already gone! Bummer! No online retailer or local retailer had these in my size until luckily, I found a tiny boutique hidden away that had one pair! Sorry, Zappos. I still do love you very much. These boots are gorgeous! I wear an 8-8½ in regular shoes, but for these I went with a 9. I have the the Frye harness in an 8½ and they fit fine, only with thin socks. I live in a place where it is winter November through April so I need to be able to wear thick socks, and the 9 allows me to do so. So definitely order a size up if you are on the fence or live in a chilly place! Otherwise, these boots are lovely and the slate color is gorgeous! It would go well with both black and brown and any other color in between. They are a little tough, but they are oh so cool. They are worth the money! They are my every day shoes, so comfortable and they add the extra punch to your look.

Alrighty, so I bought the Black Burnished Antique 6 months ago for Fall and these boots have quickly moved to the front of my boot line. They go with everything due to their almost grey almost black color. I am short, 5'4 if I stretch so I got this shorter version of the Veronica boot and I could not be happier with their fit/appearance and comfort. Something you ought to know is that this is not a lightweight boot so you won't want to be trekking 5 miles all over Paris or such as your legs and knees would get fatigued quicker than with a lighter weight boot. These are Frye's and are built to last which is why I shelled out the dough for these babies. Fit is perfect, I ordered my usual 8.5 and they fit great right out of the box. I am so sold on Frye's now that I'm looking for my second pair lol. I keep shoes for many years and these will be heirlooms someday. A+

I love these boots! I already had these in the knee-high version, but my daughter liked them better than I did; I prefer the shorter height. Very comfortable BUT make sure you order half a size up. My usual size was way too tight, but the half size larger fits perfectly. One thing: I'm not too crazy about the white stitching around the sole, which I didn't notice until I saw them in person. Not a big deal, but I'd rather the stitching were a darker color.

I love Frye and I love these boots. I found them true to size, which isn't always the case with Frye. But I am a size 8 and in these the 8 was fine. Unlike others, I've never had trouble getting them on or off. I don't find them quite as versatile with dresses as some folks do, but they work with some. And I find that I wear these boots all the time. Great value.

Beautiful boots and VERY true to size. I ordered two pairs: my usual size and a half size up (based on the written reviews and I often where a half size up in boots, especially in Euro or AU boots). However, these fit my usual size 8, and even are a bit loose in the heel. My foot is average width. They are a heavier boot than my others -- which is why I gave 4 stars for comfort.

Love these boots! I wear them over skinny jeans or under bootcut jeans. They also look great with dresses. I purchased a half size larger than I normally would and they fit great. I initially had some difficulty getting my larger foot into them but this problem went away after wearing them a few times. They are quite comfortable with or without socks.

I have had these boots for 2 years now and love them as much now as I did when I received them. They are wide enough for my wide foot and comfortable enough to wear all winter long. I would say the only negative is that they are casual. If I can only find a dress boot as wonderful as these!

I really like these boots - I wear them all the time; mostly over skinny jeans but sometimes under a bootcut jean. I have skinny legs, so they are really wide on me - so wearing them with a skirt is not an option. But these are definitely comfortable. At first I was leery about the price - but Frye makes a good, quality product, and these boots will probably outlast me! Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase. Glad I splurged because I've worn them so much I definitely got my money's worth already (and lots of compliments).

I am in love with these boots. They are easy to slip on and off so they are great for a quick getaway. Works well over skinny jeans, leggings or under my bootcut jeans. Some reviewers have complained that the top is too wide to wear under jeans but I haven't had a single issue. I've yet to wear them with a dress or skirt but I think they would be perfect in that arena as well. I purchased mine in stonewash and let me be honest, when I first opened the box I thought I was going to return them. I hung onto them a few days, wore them in the house and lo and behold they grew on me. They give a polished outfit just a bit of edginess and seem to balance everything out. Comfort level is awesome. I do recommend boot socks or at least some thick, tall socks for these. I was in a hurry one day and threw them on over ankle socks and it was an epic fail. The boots pulled my socks off of my heels. Overall, I love them and recommend them, they are extremely well made so they will last me a lifetime. Enjoy!

I typically wear an 8-8½ (EU 39). I took a chance and ordered an 8, having never owned a pair of Frye boots before. I should have ordered both sizes. Due to the shape of the toe/front on these boots, I need an 8½ because I have that "my second toe is longer than my big toe" thing going on, and there just is not enough length in the 8. Other than that they felt great! I am going to have to wait for the 8½ to come in, but I am looking forward to wearing them!

Awesome boot! Comfortable straight out of the box. First time I wore them was for a three day riding weekend and my feet felt great the whole time. Boots are very high quality. Worth the price. Leather looks more tanish-brown after wear.

Love these boots, so comfortable. I have problem with my bunions so need really comfortable and roomy shoes and boots but these work. I have been looking for a rugged looking boot that is a bit shorter than up to the knee. These look great with pants, under or over and even look great with a skirt. They are so well made probably will last forever.
