Customer Reviews French Sole Sloop

This is my second pair of Sloop Flats, the red is exactly as bright as in the picture (the blue suede ones are much much fadded than the photo, almost a greish light blue). I think that the advice to buy half size up is correct. I am 38EU, that is 7US. I bought 7.5 and they fit. It is not a question of them beign on the tight side. 7US would not fit you lenghtwise, even if the suede will loose in time! I don't find them that difficult to break either.

The fit is WAY off. I almost always wear a 10 and because it was stated that they run small I boufht an 11. Still too small. I also thought that the styling was a bit nerdy. Toe too round. I leopard print shoe in my opinion, should be chic and stylish.

I contemplated buying these shoes for about two years before I dared to order. I hesitated because of the reviews in relation to the sizing (mixed and confusing) and because I live in Ireland, so returning them would be a complicated and expensive thing to arrange. In the end I just followed th site's advice on buying half size up. I wear 7, bought a 7.5 and they fit. Yes, they look like they will strech in time, but a 7 would have not fit lenghtwise, so in the end they would have looked ugly. I like the desing, it is difficult to get nice ballet flats that don't shoe part of the toes. Will definetely get more in different colours.

I admired these shoes for a couple of years before deciding to give them a go. I hesitated because of the sizing issue and the mixed reviews in this respect. I live in Ireland and returning the shoes would have been difficult to arrange and expensive. So I just followed the universal advice and bought half size larger. I am a true 7 size, I bought 7.5, THEY FIT. Nice baller flats are very rare, so it is good that they keep making these. This is the beginning of a beautiful frienship, as I planned to get them in different colours.

It's hard to even review these because, even though they were a 7.5 and I typically wear a 7-7.5, I could not even get these on my feet.

Ok, after reading the main review I ordered these shoes knowing that they would have to stretch out. She was right! I ordered my regular size, and 8.5 and they "fit". I would NEVER suggest that you order these and plan on wearing them right out of the box. I've been wearing mine around the house trying to stretch them out and they are getting better, but slowly. I'm hoping they will be as wonderful as the first reviewer said, but for this amount of money, not sure I would order them again.

Wanted to love these flats. I didn't expect arch support and wasn't important but I felt like one of Cinderella's stepsisters trying to get these flats on. Definitely size up. I've always worn a 9 and a 10 would have been better. Adorable shoes thought and would have kept if they fit.

I read a few reviews that I must agree with. These were at least a full size too small. So small, I had to check the shoe to make sure the size wasn’t wrong. I normally wear 7-7 ½. I ordered 7 ½ & an 8 because reviews suggested ordering half size up. The 8 was very short in length. I thought surely it accidentally was a 6 ½. Also, the top of the shoe, at the instep, was very tight across my foot. I considered trying another half size larger but am afraid that instep part will still be too tight. The style is very cute and leather very soft. Disappointed to have to return these.

The shoe does run half size smaller so order half size bigger. That being said these are the most comfortable shoes. I have extreme hammer toes and these shoes feel like slippers

LOVED these shoes and so wanted them to work. The leather is nice and soft which I need but the 8 was too small and the 8.5 was too big. I know it said on the review that they will stretch but my toe was wanting to come through and I didn't know how they could stretch that much. I would have given it a whirl however there was ZERO cushion on the sole. If only they could do exactly the same shoe but with more padding it could be the perfect shoe! I tried the the one that had a little bit of a padding (and small wedge) but it didn't come in the soft leather and was too stiff. I was so bummed that I had to return.

I usually wear Tieks, but after reading reviews for this shoe I decided to try them this time. I received them yesterday and will be sending them back today. They are cute shoes, but run VERY small (at least 1 full size) and have no type of support....anywhere.

Loved these. I got the brown suede, and the only problem is that the two shoes seem to be made out of different suedes - so they don’t match! Going back.

Perfect flat. I have purchased before. I am a 6 1/2 but get a 7.

The manufacturer has changed the leather for the black nappa. It used to be a smooth, soft, luxurious Italian leather that just molded to your foot after you wore it several times. Loved it! I have several pairs of this shoe, and I just recently bought it for the third time in the black nappa. I was so disappointed when I received it because it wasn't the Italian leather I had known for years. It wasn't smooth and wasn't as soft. It had a texture to the leather and was totally different. If this shoe ever comes back with the smooth and soft Italian leather, I would buy it again, but because it had changed, I returned it. Again, so disappointed! Another issue was one of the shoes, had not been cut correctly across the toe area. It was noticeable right out of the box before I ever put it on. I just feel the manufacturer is cutting corners with the quality of this shoe now and also in production. PLEASE bring back the smooth and soft Italian black leather! BTW, this shoe should be ordered a half size larger than what you normally wear. It is NOT true to size.

these are the most comfortable shoes. So soft. Feels like I'm barefoot. If they only fit Run REALLY narrow. However, the black suede ones are perfect

I read all the reviews before buying these because I have a bit of a wide foot with a bunion on each side (sadly). I also tend to get plantar fasciitis. The price point was higher than I would normal spend on shoes as well. The reviews told me that I should buy my regular size and these shoes would stretch within a day's wear... and they were right! While they were uncomfortably snug across the top of my foot when I first put them on, I had faith in the reviewers and wore them around my house for about two hours before they started feeling better. By the time I wore them to work the next day (all day), they were just about perfect! Only one tiny spot was too snug. By the third day, all is perfect with the fit! I've worn them for 10 straight days and love them so much that I'm thinking about buying these in another color! Regardless of the price! :) It's so hard to find a nice quality (and cute) black patent ballet flat... don't be discouraged! This one is a keeper for me and my less-than-healthy feet! No pain, no pinching, they don't flop off or catch my pants as I walk. I've worn them in the rain and they still look and feel perfect! :)

Most favorite shoe EVER! I absolutely LOVE this show! I purchased this pair for a gift but I have 2 pair. I wish I had these in every single color! They are beautifully, well made shoes. Lean to casual or a little more dressy either one. Can’t stress enough how much I love them. I wear 7.5 and 7.5 fits perfectly. They stretch a tiny bit but not enough to mention. My favorite!

i literally had to find the size inside these shoes, to make sure zappos sent the right size -- they did! i felt like the ugly step sister trying on cinderella's shoe! this shoe felt like it was at least one size too small.

I really love these shoes, so much that I just ordered a second pair. My feet are pretty much a true 9, they are somewhat narrow. I ordered a 9 despite the advice to size up because I remember I had a pair of French Soles in high school and they stretched out so much they would fall off my feet. I'm so glad I got my actual size and didn't size up-- after a day or two of wearing them around the house with thin socks to break them in, they fit *perfectly*. I'm on my feet all day for work, and although these don't have any arch support they are surprisingly comfortable. They are classic and stylish looking and I like that they don't show any "toe cleavage" (I have really long toes and hate the way that looks). I have only had the first pair for a few weeks so I am hoping they hold up well in the long run. They do look nicely made.

Well these fit better but still small. Cute....However. The right shoe looked like different leather than the left....was wrinkly and came up higher on my foot. Weird.

I'm so confused by all the reviews saying that these are comfortable shoes. The two pairs of the Sloop Flat in Chocolate Suede that I tried on are not just uncomfortable for ballet flats, they are hands down the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever put on my feet. It's not a sizing issue. For the last 20 years I've worn either a 9.5 or 10 depending on the shoe, so I ordered both sizes of the Sloop to try on. The length of the 10 was perfect, but the edge of the shoe's upper digs into the top of my foot in an sharply painful way, even when just standing still. It's not a width issue, either, because my feet are narrow, and all skin and bones (what a shoe salesperson recently referred to as a "low volume" foot). Maybe it's just the Chocolate Suede version that has this problem, though, because I really don't understand how hundreds of others who have reviewed this shoe could find them to be comfortable.

Dreadful color of brown. Not the rich, vibrant color French Sole was known for in the past. The quality of this shoe was also very disappointing. Not my idea of $100.+ shoe.

This shoe was okay in the length but it was so wide it could have been a boat! So disappointed!
