really like these shoes, but they are very small. i am a true 9 1/2 and the 10 was too small

I really wanted to love the shoe, but unfortunately it was both too narrow and a bit short. I returned the shoes. Sizing up was not an option.

I love the look of these shoes and the leather is buttery soft. I read many reviews before ordering. I went with my true size 7 because some reviewers said that these are meant to mold to your feet and will stretch with wear. They were very snug and although I can't say they hurt, they weren't comfortable either. My big toe was showing through the leather, pushing the material and even with stretching, I felt like they weren't ever going to be truly comfortable. At this price, I want a shoe that I will look forward to wearing often. I did try wearing them for most of the day (just inside my house) and they still didn't feel any better by the end of the day. I liked the style enough to re-order them a 1/2 size larger (7 1/2) so we'll see. Thanks to Zappos for making returns/exchanges so easy. It's worth noting that if you go to the French Sole website they recommend sizing up 1/2 size larger so I hope this works.

Super cute but a little narrow

I normally wear size 8-8.5 and I wear insoles (1/2 sole) , tried 8.5, 9 and 9.5 and the 9.5 fit perfect. they're super cute and with the insoles they're very comfortable. I would not wear them without the insoles but ONLY because I had plantar fasciitis. Others buyers may be fine with our the arch support.

I’ve bought the Sloop 1/2 size up and I’ve bought them my regular size. The ones 1/2 size up felt absolutely great initially, then quickly stretched and became baggy on my feet. The ones my regular size were initially tight, then quickly molded to fit my feet perfectly. Trust me - order your regular size and work to mold them to your feet.

I love the sloop shoes, but the left and right were two different colors of blue. One a deep navy, the other kind of a lighter dusty blue. Hopefully the next pair is more even.

I usually wear a 6.5 and after I read all the reviews, that's what I ordered. They were way too small. I will return them. I loved them so much I am reordering in 7.

Adorable but runs quite small.

The shoes are beautiful but super tight on top. It might be that I have a wide foot but I was surprised. I’ve never had a shoe be so tight on top

Love the look of these, but they definitely run small so order a half size up. They’re very minimal and don’t provide much support. Look cute, but not a good choice if you need arch support. I kind of expected more for the price.

I normally wear a 8.5-9 and went with the 9 because of previous reviews. No regrets. They do run a little small. I haven’t “broken them in” yet so I assume they will loosen a little in the toe bed which will be perfect. They’re like wearing nothing. I’ve been looking for a good flat forever. Rothys didn’t feel good to me so I tried these. I’m so glad I did!

I normally wear a 10 in closed toe shoes and 11 in sandals. A size 10 was way too small. The eleven fit much better, but was slightly uncomfortable across the top of the shoe where I had my bunionectomy. I figured it would loosen up over time. However, I ended up returning the shoe because I did not like the look of the print from my big toe poking out through the shoe. Kudos to Zappos as always for excellent returns and price matching.

So dissatisfied! These looked good out of the box so I wore them to work. Within hours the sides started flapping out and look terrible! I cannot believe I spent this much money on a pair of ballet flats that I could have gotten ANYWHERE for $20. This may be the worst purchase I’ve ever made and expected more from Zappos which usually carry nice quality brands.

What happened to one of my favorite brands? Terrible fit. sides billowing out. Soles felt like cardboard. Looks cheap, not like a shoe costing over $100. Big disappointment.

I was happy to find a brand that would work for me and I would be able to wear on an all day at work kind of thing. I came upon french soles via looking up flats on here, and went by the most positive and neutral comments left here, but I did not expect that after wearing the shoes on and off for 3 days this would happen. 1. That the shoe would strech out (I normally wear between a 9 and a 9.5 saw the recommendations of going up half a size) and now I feel like am wearing shoes a whole size up than my normal . 2. That the padded footbed would come undone as it has (shown on pictures) from 3 days of wearing and that that I take turns in wearing other brand name flats to work. I hope that Customer Service works with me and these shoes are replaced for a 9.5 or am giving full credit for them. They are cute as hell and comfortable too.

I normally wear a size 5.5 or 6. Since these run small I ordered the 6.5 and it is still way too small. Returned and will try the size 7.

As some others suggested, I purchased my normal size 9 1/2 and yes, at first they feel snug, but within an hour of wearing, they stretched out and now they are perfect. It is strange how tight they feel initially, but I assure you, they will stretch out right away, so get your normal size. There is not much support but they are comfortable nonetheless.

Beautiful, Quality Shoes!! Wanted desperately for these to work, unfortunately left shoe was sooo much tighter overall. Even knowing the gorgeous leather would stretch to conform to my feet, I was afraid the perfect fitting right shoe would stretch too much. I would gladly have tried a half size larger but the sizes jump from a ten to eleven without a 10 1/2 in between. :(

I've been eyeing this shoe for years, putting off buying them because they seem expensive and flimsy, but I finally took the plunge a few months ago. I bought these in the black nappa, size 11. Verdict: I love them. As the top review mentioned, these shoes are made to conform to your feet (like a ballet slipper, they're basically slug leather gloves for your feet) so it's important to order these in your actual size. Fresh out of the box, they fit snugly (at first I worried that I should have sized up - they were SO snug it was a little uncomfortable) but after a few wears they began to loosen and take on the shape of my feet. Now they're buttery soft and fit perfectly. They're definitely my go-to flats. A couple of caveats, though. If you want/need arch support, these probably aren't the shoe for you (I typically want arch support in my shoes, but because these fit sort of like a "barefoot" shoe I don't mind the lack of support when I wear these.) Also, these are thin slippers and you will definitely be able to feet the texture of whatever surface you're walking on through these soles. I find they work best for indoor use or pavement that isn't too rough or gravelly. TL;DR keep in mind that they don't have arch support; order your normal size and expect them to feel a little too tight at first; take the time to break them in and they'll fit like a second skin.

I really like these shoes. They are unusually comfortable. They are wide enough to wiggle my toes, but at the same time hug my feet perfectly as I walk. They could use a tad more support under the heel. I may try a small flat insert if I find it necessary or not. Great shoe!

read the reviews and decided to order these in black and chocolate suede. returned the black immediately because they are light inside and it looks awkward when wearing them with black tights. ordered the brown in my regular size 7 and per the reviews gave them a good few days to break in. still too tight and painful on my heel and I dont want to be uncomfortable wearing flats for that price. however I do like how they look so will try the 7,5 and hopefully that will solve the problem.

I have these in the suede and LOVE them. I decided I needed them in the leopard print- purchased the same size I wear in the suede and they were way too small. Very disappointing.
