I have found "The" Shoe. Because of a chronic pain disease, my feet are extremely difficult to fit...so this shoe is an absolute blessing. Comfortable from the moment I put them on and throughout the day. And stylish to boot. And they go with everything from dresses to skirts; from legging to pants. I am over the moon. I ordered 2 pairs...the plain black nappa leather and the dressier snakeskin and am going back for more. If you are looking for all day, everyday comfort in a shoe, I promise you, you will find nothing better than these. I know because I've tried just about every shoe. It just doesn't get better. I am 5'9" and wear a size 10. They are very true to size. Love them!

Okay, here is my take on the Sloop. Ladies, put on your big girl panties, grit your teeth and walk for two days. After that you will be good to go. These shoes offer no support whatsoever but that goes along with this type of shoe. If you want support, buy sneakers; if you want cute, buy these. They offer just enough coverage to be stylish without being dowdy. I love them with leggings and long sweaters. Hint - you want to stretch them faster put on socks, heat them with a hairdryer from the inside out and wear them while hot, they will shape to your feet. Overall they are keepers. Definitely size up 1/2 size. I would not go more because they will stretch.

Having read the review about how these shoes stretch to fit like ballet shoes, I bought my actual size. Once I put them on, I could tell that and like all the other reviewers say and these shoes have the potential to be a magically comfortable shoe. The leather is so soft, and though really snug upon first wearing, you can feel that it will mold to your foot over time. My concern though was, looking down at them, I just didn't love them. They were comfy and great flats but just lacked... I don't know... something. In the end I felt that if I didn't get that great feeling about them I couldn't justify paying a lot for them, so back to Zappos they went. Thank you Zappos for allowing me to be so picky with free and easy returns!

Really pretty shoe, but really uncomfortable. I may have ordered too small a size, but it really tubs all the wrong parts of the foot. I have added pads and other "fixes" but still can bring myself to suffer them. I also feel like it is going to fall apart after one season, which is not what you expect from a pricy shoe like this.

Really great shoes! On the small size, but they stretch out. And they fit better if the are snug in the beginning. I really love the way these shoes feel, very comfortable with just enough support to make them wearable all day. The review that said they fit like ballet shoes is correct. I purchased the black suede ones and immediately wanted to buy more in other colors. Unfortunately they were sold out in my size. These are the kind of shoes I will want to wear for many years. Am going to purchase another pair like the ones I just purchased as I know when these wear out I am going to want more!

Order this style in your usual size and don't fret if it feels too tight. The Sloops will conform beautifully to your feet after a few wearings. The dancer who reviewed this style of French Sole was correct.

These shoes are awesome. Due to a neuromuscular problem, I have to wear flats or athletic shoes all of the time. I love ballet flats but find that sometimes they crunch my feet up or they don't offer any arch/foot bed support. These French Sole shoes are very easy on my feet, very comfortable with some cushion on the foot bed. The fit is exact on. I wore them for 2 days walking in San Francisco and my feet had no complaints. They simply do not bind anywhere. I will order more styles for sure!

These are very pretty, but have no support whatsoever They are a slipper... They do stretch out quickly, so they should fit a little snug at first.

These are by far my new favorite everyday shoes. I ordered the black suede in an 8, but after I tried them on I had to order up half a size they were a bit tight and didn't want sausage feet. I switched to the brown suede and couldn't be happier. After a month's wear the half size larger fits like a glove and are the best shoes for everyday wear. Even with the lack of support on the sole, it's perfect for everything. They are great for wear and better to walk around wish casual clothes. Definitely order up half a size if you have normal to wider feet as I can't imagine the true size would fit anyone other than people with very narrow feet.

This shoe was comfortable in every way except one...the tongue of the shoe cut deep into the top of my foot! Even after I had broken into this shoe the tongue of these flats would still cut into the top of my feet, no circulation. Which was weird, since my feet are pretty narrow and have a normal width. I gave them away. I wished they had worked for me.

Wanted to love these, but waiting for them to stretch out. I was afraid to order a size up after reading the other reviews. Love the look of these, but not comfy.

I recently ordered these lovely shoes from Zappos, but based on mixed reviews was unable to decide which size to get. During a recent trip to New York, I decided to seek out the actual French Sole store to be properly fitted. I was very surprised to have more than one associate at the stores (there are 3 stores in NY) insist that I buy my normal size and NOT to size up as others have recommended. They say that all the time they see people go up half a size because that's what feels comfortable in the store, but that they are back within a month saying that the shoes are falling off their feet. That is because they are meant to STRETCH to accommodate your own foot, which is ultimately what leads to these shoes being the softest, most comfortable shoes in your closet. It does, however, take some break in time. I took them at their word and purchased my normal size 8. To be honest, these shoes were killing me for the first 3 days. The first day they dug into my heels necessitating moleskin. The second day my big toe still felt jammed into the toe box. By the end of the third day, however, I was able to slip them on comfortably and could finally envision these becoming my favorite pair of shoes. Personally, I preferred the wedge heel on the Zeppa to the flat sole of the Sloop, but that is a personal preference and does not reflect the comfort or quality of the Sloop. The Zeppa is actually the same shoe as the Sloop, but they've just added a small wedge heel for more support. If you love ballet flats, these will be your favorites, hands down. The beauty of Zappos is that you don't have to take a trip to New York to get them!

I have been looking for a comfortable flat shoe, and this is it! I usually wear a size 8, but was confused after reading others' reviews. I ordered both the 8 and 8.5, and agree with others that the shoe runs a bit short. I decided to go with the larger size, and they are awesome! They are totally comfortable for me, and have quickly become my go-to shoe. I especially love the bronze metallic color, but have ordered them now in several other colors as well. Zappos makes it super easy to return and exchange to figure out your size. Thanks, Zappos!

I have brought many many items from Zappos, mostly shoes but have never written a review before. I love these shoes! They are so soft and comfortable and literally go with everything! I did order up a half size, after 2 wears they have molded to my foot and are perfect. They are a little pricey but so worth it...I am ordering another pair (or 2, 3...) in other colors.

I love how comfortable these shoes are just to kick around on the weekends. The color (brown suede) is luxe and I think with the non-synthetic lining they are keeping my feet warm even as the weather is getting colder! My one complaint is that they are a bit on the narrow side and even a little shorter than most of my size 8's. I had to order up a half size that seems to be working well.

I pulled these out of the box and was, like, "Whoa!" They did not look like a pair of shoes that would be priced this high. Then I tried them on. They come up very high and were too tight across the top of my foot. Too bad. I was rooting for a pair of Italy-made shoes.

These are my absolute favorite shoes. Please keep in mind that I own about 350 pair shoes, so this is saying a lot. I agree with the other reviewer about this style is meant to fit like a sock. I ordered 4 colors and the the black napa are my favorite...in fact, I am ordering another pair because when these wear out I will be heartbroken if they are no longer available. I have worn the black napa at least 3 days a week for 6 months and they have held up to a T. I take good care of my footwear, but these have a joy to own. They are beautiful, the quality is impeccable, and I get asked where I got them constantly. I wear everything from 4-inch heels to ballet flats to boots, and a ballet flat that is true to the name 'ballet flat' is very hard to find. Love these, love Zappos!

Very very cute shoe in leopard print. But felt much too small, even if I allowed a breaking in period. They were very tight along the top, to where I felt like my foot was bulging out the top. Going back for a half size bigger than my normal size. Those will probably need a breaking in period too, but hopefully will be more comfortable out of the box.

I'm so disappointed in these shoes. I did my homework, I read the reviews. I ordered true to size, which did fit once they stretched a tiny bit. But the overall quality stinks. The soles are already coming out of these shoes. For the price I paid, I would expect better than that. I initially had great hopes for these shoes. They were super cute and comfortable overall, but if they're already falling apart, I can't keep wearing them and I will definitely NOT be getting another pair.

Lovely shoe, but I found it to be very narrow. Unfortunately I had to return them. I would recommend to someone with a narrow foot.

Other reviewers have remarked that these shoes loosen up and to buy your true size. I can absolutely say that's true, but I will say it takes a while for it to loosen and it can be quite painful until the shoe leather does stretch. I used some packing paper to stretch the shoe where it goes across the top of my foot and it still bruised me badly the first few times I wore the shoe. Now, a few weeks after I bought them, the shoe fits like a dream. The other comment I will make is about this specific color. When you pull them out of the box, the shoe is gorgeous, but over time the shoe looks very distressed because the bronzing wears off around the top edge and shows where something rubs the finish of the shoe very easily.

I read many, many of the reviews on the Sloop so I ordered my true size, 9.5, and a 10. I'm glad that I ordered my true size because the 10 would have been way too large in length. The 9.5 fit right out of the box. I wore them indoors a lot to see how they would break in. When wore with no stocking, there's an almost imperceptable heel slippage. But it's not enough to order a smaller size. As others have said, not much padding on the sole but I was pleased to see that the bottom of the sole was rubber. I was concerened about water damage and these will fare better than I thought they would. I also chose the black patent for this very reason. Patent leather is a bit more weather resilient than plain leather and I want to wear these into the first part of autumn. I wouldn't reccommend these as a winter shoe if you live anywhere that gets any type of winter weather. If you need a beautiful flat for colder weather, try the ara Bella.

I normally wear an 8 to 8 1/2, had to return for a size 9. Great shoe. Nice soft black leather. Not hte best for high arches, but it's hard to find a really cute flat that gives great arch support unless you go for the "granny" type. I wear this with everything. One of the few that I could find that actually flattered a little wider foot.
