Loved the room in the toe box. Good and sturdy. But it was cut too high and rubbed my ankle bones so had too return. I ordered up a size, so the fit was fine except for the too high cut at the ankle.

ugh stop making Keens more narrow! also the laces on these only went half way up my foot so my feet slipped forward, my heel flopped out, my toes got jammed, and the laces dug into the tops of my feet and made me say ow ow ow ow.

I ordered these to replace a couple pair that are a few years old. The product has changed completely, but not in a good way. The laces cut into the top of my foot through the tongue. I have tried a number of creative ways to lace them to alleviate the pain, but no success. The shoe is also fitting much more loosely in the heel than before. As another reviewer mentioned, there is a bump under the outside edge of both feet. Small, but perceptible. Very disappointing. I have wide feet and the width was good. Will be looking for a new style and/or brand. I will also try the same syle in a mens version to see if it makes a difference. The reviews here are pretty old. I hope this helps someone make a good decision in 2017. Lastly, perhaps if you never had a pair of the older version, the changes won't bother you so much.

I'm going to have to return this item. I have just an average width foot, but the heel on this shoe slipped terribly. I tried two different sizes, to no avail. Otherwise, I loved them.

Of the 7 pairs of hiking shoes I ordered for an upcoming trekking trip, these were my least favorite. I needed a lightweight, waterproof shoe and these were just too big and clunky for my long narrow feet and thin legs. They're also quite heavy and I can't imagine walking 12-16 miles a day, for 8 days in these. I wear a size 10 in regular shoes and a 10.5 in hiking/tennis shoes. These would probably be much cuter on someone with smaller feet and "studier" legs. I felt like I was walking around with cement-filled bread pans on my feet!

I have been looking for waterproof walking shoes for literally months. I thought this shoe was the one, as Keen never disappoints. At first when I put them on, the comfort was amazing, and I thought, "Wow, twenty minutes to break in a pair of shoes. Not bad at all." But as the day wore on, my bunions were hurting so badly I had to go to the drug store for bunion cushions. Now I don't know if I should keep trying to break these in or eat the financial loss and try another shoe.

Great arch support. These shoes run long. Had to reorder in one size smaller.

The opening is really long and I couldn't lace the shoe tight enough to keep my heel from slipping badly. Ordered a different style and it was fine. Overall, I love Keens!

As others mentioned, if you have a narrow heel (I never knew I did!) it may slip in the heel, which these did for me. The toe box was perfect, and overall they were very comfortable, but I am returning and trying Keen Voyager and Merrell Azure.

I have owned many pairs of Keen shoes and have liked how they felt and fit. Thinking the style has changed, it is very narrow compared to my others.

This isn't a replacement for an all-round town and country shoe like all of my Merrells have been. This is a hiking shoe. I usually wear an 8 1/2 M but I sized up to a 9 as instructed. I think the length is okay but they are very wide, especially the heel. I feel like I'm slopping around in them. Other than that they are comfortable straight out of the box. If they get much bigger, I will only be able to wear them with a very thick sock. This will not be a summer shoe because it is quite warm, but should be great for the other 3 seasons.

So disappointed. This is my 4th pair of Targhees. These are cut different at the ankle -- higher. They rub the bottom of my ankle bones especially on the outside. I've been wearing them, thinking well, maybe I just have to break them in. I never had to break in my other Targhees. Today I tried on my old ones and find there is a whole finger width between the top of the shoes and my ankle bone! I feel like crying. Guess I'll be wearing the old ones unless I'm going into boggy areas. The old ones now leak.

They feel clunky, the heels slip, and my toes fall asleep. I wish I hadn't worn them outside or I would return. I am trying new lacing methods (for heel slippage and wide forefront) which helps for slippage, but my toes are still going numb. I didn't realize my heels are narrow, but based on all the positive reviews they must be! I am disappointed because Keen Presidio shoes fit me great and the Targhee's are expensive especially considering how uncomfortable they are.

I have had two pairs of these the first ripped where the webbing meets the leather but I had had them a while so wasn't to concerned, of course being torn they were no longer waterproof. I bought another pair as they ARE comfortable. I am now replacing the second pair of NOT torn Keens for a pair of Ahnu's. While I love my Keen sandals and have found the shoes to fit me well and be comfortable, the waterproofing is terrible and honestly these shoes are a year old and every time I wear them my feet end up wet, regardless as to whether I am hiking or just walking in wet grass. Sadly as comfortable as they are, living in New Hampshire and having a farm in New York state I walk in damp and wet fields often, I need waterproof that is truly waterproof and these just aren't cutting it. That having been said if the waterproofing is not important to you or is only of secondary importance, they are comfortable and while they say they run small, I wear a ten in every shoe and this shoe was no different.

Cute, waterproof, and with okay tread for snow. However, my feet are soaked by mid-workday just from the sweat inside (on the sole). I really wish that they had sheepskin insoles like my Uggs boots, so that the sweat on the bottom of my feet wouldn't get uncomfortably trapped there. I usually end up having to take these shoes off in my office in the middle of the day, for my socks to dry off, before putting them back on. Very disappointing.

I thought the look of these were great! I have bunions. The toe box felt perfect. But, I couldn't get them tight enough for my heel to not slide around severely. I did order a size bigger. Good recommendation.

Unfortunately, this strong, sturdy shoe is too wide in the heel for my foot. I think that it takes a chunky foot to fill this shoe. It is also quite stiff - which would likely resolve over time.

This shoe did not quite fit me properly. I ordered the half size larger, as recommended, and even though the shoe did not really feel too big, the heels were just too loose. Tried heavy hiking socks which helped a bit, but not sufficient to risk blisters! It is otherwise a lovely shoe and I am disappointed to have to make the return.

Of the many Keens I have owned, 6 or so, this is the first to be too narrow. I hope this is not a trend in Keens. In addition to ordering the usual half size larger, I went up another half size and it still was too narrow. I was very disappointed. I needed a waterproof shoe with good support.

There is toe room galore! September hiking in Sedona, Arizona equals heat-swollen tootsies, so I rushed to order the Targhee IIs. Voilà! No more toe banging, or black toes. Yay! Unfortunately, a five mile urban rainy day hike in Seattle on well-drained asphalt paths equals soaking wet (wring-out-able) socks. These boots are not waterproof! The right boot was waterlogged by mile one; the left boot stayed dry until mile three. The squish, squish, squishing was unpleasant. The mesh uppers cannot keep rain out. Yes, the heels are generous in width, but creative lacing with surgeon's knots held the heels down well. No break-in needed, but keep in mind these are stiff hiking boots, not cushiony trail runners. Finally, the laces slip so I replaced them with old running shoe laces, obviously not a great fashion forward look. Keen needs to go back to the drawing board on the Targhee II: effective waterproofing and laces.

I tried SO much to like this shoe due to the good reviews. However, it fit way too large and they shoes were so heavy. I needed a good waterproof pair that I could wear in spring, fall and yes winter with heavier socks. This shoe was HOT and even with the heavy socks it just didn't work for me. I then found KEEN women's Alpha WP CNX which is apparently a NEW shoe. This is LIGHT WEIGHT and fits true to size with regular or heavier socks. It is waterproof and very comfortable.

I've been purchasing the Targhee II from Zappos for the past couple of years. the main reason for my purchase is the "waterproof" feature. I was very happy with the way my socks/feet actually remained dry when it rained. Until this last purchase. I had to return one pair because my feel/socks were soaked. The entire inside of both sneaks was soaking wet. Zappos replaced this pair, and now, I'm finding the replacement pair also not being fully waterproof. I haven't had occasion to wear them in actual rain yet; but one morning, it was drizzling, and when I got home, I was so disappointed to find my socks/feet were damp and the inside of both (replacement) sneaks was damp as well. I am very disappointed. I don't know what's going on because all pairs I've had in the past were excellent. My feet/socks remained dry no matter what wet conditions I walked through. My rating will change from five star to one star, because of my dissatisfaction with the waterproof feature (which is highly important to me.)

I ordered these and the Patagonia Drifter. I did not size up as I am usually true to size in KEENs. I ended up keeping the Patagonia shoes. The keens did not lace as securely (they had about half the lacing holes compared to the patagonia) and my heel slipped. I could have unlaced the shoe and twisted the laces over my instep to lock my heel in perhaps. I also found the tongue seemed a bit too small - the top of the lace wanted to ride up over the top, plus there were gaps on the side of the tongue. After wearing one of each shoe for 15 minutes I decided to send these back to Zappos. I thought I owned a pair of Targhees about 3 years ago that I really liked but they seem to have changed it. I tried on the Voyageur the other day at a local store and preferred its feel.

Nice shoe but feels shorter and narrower than the Alamosa style. Should be a good shoe for people with narrow feet.

One major flaw! The heel is outrageously wide for a B foot. Walking in the living room with heavy hiking socks, it slipped severely and made the shoes useless for any occasion. I would say the heel is about a EEE. Sizing was great for length and width and styling is great with great arch support just standing, but take a step and heel slips badly. Returning immediately! Zappos is a great company with an outstanding return program.
