I wanted to like these! Keen is my go-to brand for walking and hiking. These however, were wide and sloppy in the heel and the left toe-box was tight. It's a bit strange!

I tried 7 1/2 and 8 in the Keen Targhee II hiking shoes. 7 1/2 were difficult to get on. The size 8 fit; except for the heel; too big. My foot kept lifting up with each step. So back they go! The hunt goes on for the perfect shoe!

I had the same problem with these as I did with the Keen Voyageur: the ankle portion is just a little too high and rubs against the underside of my ankle bone when I walk. I'm not sure it's something that will soften with wear, so I'm just returning them.

These are really cute, but they run short. My toes are almost touching the end of the toe box, so I need to order half a size up, as suggested. However, the heel slips causing me to be afraid that a larger size would slip even worse. I decided to go with the Keen Voyager, which fits to size with no heel slippage.

I own about 15 different pairs of Keens I just love them, but this shoe was not comfortable with me.Not sure why the fit is good so unsure?

I agree about the heel slippage. I usually wear an 11 in Keens. They fit heel to toe, but my heel was slipping. The other issue is the tongue. Like the Voyageur, it pushes down on the top of my foot. I own the Targhee Mid and the tongue seems to lay flatter and have been great on hikes. I wanted a low shoe for summer. I own lots of Keens, but it seems their low hiking shoe does not work on my foot.

Extra small - I tried my usual Keen size, and returned them. They are too small. I tried half a size larger, and returned them. They felt just as small. So I am giving up. I have several other pairs of Keens and love them. This is the first time I've had bad luck!

Not for rocky terrain - I purchased this shoe to walk the trails of the Columbia River Gorge. I tried the shoe extensively and found that it was too narrow for my wide foot and caused numerous blisters. I had to wrap my toes every time prior to hiking. I also noticed that I could feel the rocks through the sole of the shoe. It’s an ok shoe but not one for trail hiking that has any rocks. I love Keens and have about eight or nine pairs but this one was definitely not up to the kind of hiking that I do on a regular basis.

Not for women with narrow heels - I saw at least one other review that addressed the heel slippage. I've never experienced this before in a hiking shoe. Also, unlike a lot of hiking shoes I've tried, the toe box is quite shallow.

Not great, but too late to return - I thought I'd love this shoe, but I don't. I started disliking them more the more that I wore them, so I can't return them now. First of all: from the top looking down, toe seems kind of fatter than the rest of the shoe (which I don't like the look of) and it wasn't particularly comfortable on first wearing. It’s broken in OK now, but the treads tend to track ALOT of mud and dirt in with them. Also, the shoelaces must be made of Teflon or something equally slippery because they constantly come untied. I wouldn't recommend these or buy them again (but they weren't AWFUL either, just didn't meet my expectation).

Listen to the other reviews! I ordered a half-size up, and the shoe was marginally comfortable with NO socks. However, the heel was much too loose and I kept slipping out of it. They're going back - too bad, too, because this is a really cute shoe for those of us who like clunky shoes!

Heel too wide - I loved the idea of this shoe, and the look is great! HOWEVER, after trying them on for 2 minutes I will be sending them back. Fit is snug at midfoot, but the heel is so wide that my (narrow) heel slips terribly and I will blister in a heartbeat. The sole of the shoe is perfect for hill/dirt terrain, grip would be great for downhill, and the waterproof feature makes them the ideal lightweight hiker. Sad they won't work for me... back to hiking boots I go. My true street shoe size is 6&1/2 and the 7 fit just right in these (as is typical most Keens) except of course the wide heel aspect :( Zappos rocks always!! Never worry about returns!

Too narrow! I tried this shoe, but had to return it. I own 5 pairs of Keen shoes, but this one has a narrower toe box than the others. Even trying a full size larger didn't fix the problem. I wish that Keen would come out with a durable light hiking shoe that fits like its casual walking shoes.

I have loved every pair of Keen shoes I have bought (5 or 6 pairs at least)until these Targhee II. The shoe is not true to size, I had to buy additional insoles to make them fit. Unfortunately, I wore them around outside so I cannot return them or I would. I never expected them to fit so poorly. They are also the only pair of Keens I had "break" in. If you are considering these or the Voyageur save yourself the heart ache, 10.00 extra $$ and buy the Voyaguer.

This (in the grey and pink color) still felt and looked very clunky and like a serious hiking shoe not very fun at all. More importantly, the lacing system as others have mentioned cannot cinch properly on my too narrow heel. Returned.

This is my second pair of Targhee II shoes. I loved my first pair and ordered a second without hesitation. Unfortunately, these shoes aren't the same as my first pair. They are longer and the ankle fits differently, it sits too high. When I place these next to my first pair I can actually see the difference in the cut of the top of the shoe at the ankle and in the length of the shoe. These have to go back and I will try a different style of Keens.

A nice shoe, but it wasn't shaped at all like my feet, so I had to return it. This was a surprise for me: my feet seem pretty normal-shaped, and I don't very often have fit problems. I followed the advice to order a half-size up, getting a 9 instead of my usual 8.5. Sadly, the shoe was still snug around the toes. But its real death knell was that it was really loose around the heel. I fiddled with lacing and tried to snug it up, but no matter what I tried, my heel just swam around. I'm sad.

This shoe runs large. Order a half a size down. This is also a pretty heavy shoe.

I ordered 5 1/2, but these were too small, my toe touched the end; however, the heel kept moving up and down when I walked. If you attempt to tighten the shoe lace, the shoe becomes uncomfortable. The tongue of the shoe is fake, so when you tighten the laces, the tongue does not sit underneath smoothly, but bunches up to hurt your feet. I am disappointed to return these after reading so many great reviews, but these are uncomfortable even though they look great.

So comfy... ...But less than a year and the soles are so worn I had to throw them away. Okay, I walk my dog twice a day, every day, and I wore them on vacation (I walked a bit, but not excessively). So sad to have paid so much and not been able to get more wear out of them. Will buy other Keens, but not this super-soft sole.

So-so and too small. I'm usually a size 7 but these had to be a size 8 to fit. Also, the shoes didn't feel any more comfortable than the L.L. Bean hiking shoes I bought a year ago for half the price of these. I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about Keen shoes. These were unimpressive and because of the sizing I'm dissuaded from trying out any more.

Disappointed - This was such a good looking pair of shoes that I was incredibly sad when I chose to return them. They seemed too loose at the heel-my heel would slide out of them when I walked. They were way too narrow in the front. I own several other pairs of Keens, but have never experienced this problem before. I would not recommend these as hiking shoes-they feel more like skater shoes.

Cute but... They are a nice looking shoe, and seemed comfortable at first, but after I wear them for a bit they make the soles of my feet burn.

I really want to love these, but... I bought these 6 months ago and have periodically put them back on my feet in hopes that they would magically be comfortable. I should have returned them, but they are so great looking and fully waterproof, that I kept them in hopes that I can make them equally comfortable. No such luck. I ordered a size up and still find them too tight, plus the heel rubs badly. Major bummer. I'll try them on again next month...and the month after that...and the month after that.

This have insane heel and lace slippage. Which mean foot sliding. Which means toes are broken on any hill descending. Horrible!!
