I normally love keen as it’s one of the only shoes that work with my feet and orthotics. (I broke my foot in a car accident years ago and since then I have pain etc..) But lately they are randomly lumpy inside the footbed! So annoying!

The interior support structure of this shoe is not neutral. There is padding on the outer edge that causes pronation. Excellent for a supinator that needs the interior tilt. But I already tend towards pronation and this will hurt my knees very quickly.

It was too small and doesn't feel like 16. I'm probably going to order 17s though because I like the style a lot.

Love the shoe. But I’m a 13. And since these run small, I have to choose too small, or too big, since they don’t make a 13.5. Why not? Does it make any sense that hat half sizes are limited to people with smaller feet? Here’s an idea... just make the sizes actually reflect real sizes. Crazy I know.

Wear size 8.5, bought 9 due to recommendations here, which were absolutely WRONG. These Keens run wide to begin with, so sizing up means that normal width folks will be swimming in a half size larger, which means they will to experience pain in the ball and/or side of the foot. In fact, this shoe runs very true to size. I am between Med and Wide width, and these are plenty wide even wearing my normal size 8.5 (which I tried on in my local REI after returning these). So this “problem” is fixable by simply buying these in your true shoe size.
What is NOT fixable is one CRITICAL FLAW: having only 4 shoelace lugs. Terribly shortsighted of Keen to make a hiking shoe with limited ability to fine-tune lacing. Worse, the tongue where the laces cross after exiting the THIRD lug up has almost NO padding underneath, so when tightened, the lacing digs into the tendons on top of the foot. It’s quite painful. The TOP lug has leather underneath, so tying the knot is not a problem. The tongue padding is simply poorly designed. Way to cut costs, Keen!

I purchased the Targhee II and Targhee III (same size) after reading several reviews based on bunions. Even though many people felt the toe box was more comfortable in the Targhee II, it pinched down for me on top. I walked almost a mile in these and could feel a little soreness. The heel and fit seemed fine except for that. When I switched back to my Targhee III, my feet felt a lot better. I didn't even need to purchase the wide versions which is great as it keeps a better heel fit. Sorry, but I just did not like the fit of the Targhee II.

They don't hold up to regular use. If you get these, make sure that you buy a bottle of shoe-goo. You'll need it to re-fasten the soles of the shoes, and you will probably need to do this every 6 months to different parts of the shoe.

I never made it out of the house with them. I ordered a size larger as was advised. I wear a 15 and ordered a 16. I could put a full finger between my heel and the back of the shoe. They felt big,my foot slid back and forth. The second time I went to put on to wear around the house the string loop pulled loose. I wouldn't order anything a full size big again. I didn't have them on long enough to comment on the rest of the fit. Returning them was an easy process and didn't have any issues with that.

Good quality but difficult to get laced tight. Insole is rigid and very uncomfortable on feet. Gave it a few weeks to break in but didn't improve. Looks good but did not perform well for me. Zappos customer service is top notch and remedied my problem asap. A+++ for service

The heel section of these shoes is too loose. I tried them on and could feel my heel coming loose, despite tying the laces tight, my heels felt like they were going to slip out. Returning these shoes for something more secure on my feet. Also, the shoes look very big.

This shoe looked like it was marked wrong in the size. Felt a full size small. Otherwise rugged good looks.

Read the many reviews to order a half size larger. FALSE. I wear a 10 1/2. Ordered 11. Too big. Returning them.

Length and Toe space felt great, but at the top of the shoe it was lacking space. Tongue was not wide enough or material making up for that was lacking. I will have to return them.

I am a woman needing a wider shoe than I can get in most woman's hikers due to a bunnion on my right little toe. I have a pair of Keen Woman's snow boots (wide, lovely) that I love and work just fine (got them before the little toe was an issue) but for some reason these just did not feel comfortable overall for me. Going back to the Men's Merrells.
You just have to try and see if it works for you and with Zappos wonderful return policy, trying them out will be hassel free!

I ordered these in a wide size to replace some worn out Keen Koven Lows. They fit the width of my foot well, but unlike the Koven my heel slipped quite a bit in these. The upper also feels a bit "kushy", which made getting them tied with a comfortable snugness difficult.

The shoes were good but the fit around the front and top of the foot was a bit tight and uncomfortable.

Shoes look and feel plasticky, very stiff out of box. Going to wear today and if no improvement I will return tomorrow probably.

I followed the advice of many commenters and ordered a half size larger than usual. Unfortunately, that turned out to be way too large for me; my foot was literally slipping out of the shoe. I returned that size and tried my normal size. While the front of the shoe fit well, the back of the shoe was still too large for me; my heel would slip out 2/3 of the way with each step I took. I returned the shoe (thanks Zappos!) and then bought the North Face Ultra 109 GTX, which was true to size for me.
It's a shame that the Targhee II did not work out. The inside lining is nicely padded, and the insole was really comfortable.

Had these for about a year. I wear them three days a week in the summer to work on a golf course. Staying dry is paramount and these work well. Soles have held up well relative to wear; however, they are continually separating from the bottom. Sick of gluing them back together and will be looking to buy a replacement soon. I have had 2 other pair of Keen shoes and these are the first pair to disappoint me.

I saw these online shortly after I had already purchased a pair of Gypsum mids, but liked the look of these shoes and the idea of a more shoe/boot hybrid better. While my Gypsum booths felt true to size, these were about a half-size too small. The way the tongue attaches to the side of the shoe is a bit odd (it's cut low-enough that I fear it will impact the water resistance factor of the shoe, yet high enough that it bunched at the sides and impacted the comfort of the top of my foot while walking). They also didn't provide as much stability as the Gypsum, so after further consideration, I decided to return these and go with the Gypsum for when I need a hiking boot and classic sneaker for when I need a sneaker.

This was definitely the style winner from the shoes I picked out, but when I tried it on it felt short (my toe was rubbing on the front of the shoe), but yet my heel kept slipping out of the shoe. I tried tightening the laces to control the heel slippage, but it just made the shoe uncomfortably tight. I love my other Keen shoes and I love you Zappos, but these babies are going back to the warehouse.

I've had these shoes for 3 years. They're extremely comfortable, but I have one main gripe: The main reason I bought these was that they are supposed to be waterproof. Not resistant, but proof. I wanted to be able to walk through puddles and mud without worrying about wet feet. They worked for the first year or so, but after a while they lost whatever waterproofing they had, and now they're not even water resistant. Liquid sucks right up into my socks in a couple seconds. If it's the waterproofing you're after, I'd look elsewhere.
