Great Walking Shoe -
This shoe held up well during a recent walking tour of Paris. I am 6'6" and have trouble finding shoes that support my frame. These shoes did the job. I wear an orthotic so the removable insole was a great advantage. Overall a great shoe for walking and hiking in my opinion.

Nice outdoorsy shoe!
Great looking shoe and the waterproof aspect is top notch. The sizing does tend to run a bit small...so you'll probably have to size UP from the size you normally wear. The heel adjustment strap (attached to the top lacing) doesn't seem to work as designed. The shoe does tend to have a little "play" in the heel...allowing your heel to move slightly. It can feel like the shoe will slip off unless you get it really tight. I do have a relatively new pair so I am hoping that will go away once the shoe has been "broken in." Other than that, it's a really nice shoe.

Nice Shoe -
Runs a bit small I suppose, but I knew that going in and ordered the right size. The waterproofing has been adequate to date, and I have no complaints. The toe box provides ample protection and the sole seems to be fairly grippy. This is my new disc golf shoe for the winter, I have to think that it may be a bit much in the summer though, regardless, I plan on giving it a shot anyway.

Costa Rican Hiking -
I was looking for a low hiker that could serve as an all purpose shoe and the only shoe I would wear on a two week trip to Costa Rica. I needed a shoe with a wide toe box. The Keen Targhee II looks like it will do exactly that. I have been wearing them for about 4 weeks now and I am pleased with how they feel, perform, and look.

Decent -
Pros: Solid construction, water proof, hard rubber toe, wide foot print. And now for the cons: P R I C E, they do not breathe, soles are slippery on wet surfaces. So... For the price, you can do a lot better. These are good shoes, and they are comfortable. I got the "orange" shoes and the color in the picture is different in real light. A little more purple than I would have liked. Also, unlike some of the other reviews, I think they run a half size too big. I’ve got to say, these shoes have stood up to some serious abuse and show no signs of failing any time soon.

A fine shoe, but I'm not in love (yet) -
After practically living in my Keen Richmonds for the last six months, I couldn't wait to get my next pair of Keens. I went to Zappos again because of their outstanding service and selection. I chose the Targhee II because I wanted more athletic performance than I got with the Richmond. I walk 5-7 miles per day for work and needed a comfortable, durable, and supportive shoe. Out of the box I could see that the Targhee II was a VERY well made shoe. Once on, I was glad that I ordered a half-size larger than normal as the fit was perfect. However, it felt as if I was in some kind of platform shoes - they seemed too high off the ground, especially in the heel. I wasn't worried because I figured they would need time to break in. After all, it took me a whole 6 weeks to appreciate my Richmonds. After 2 weeks, I still wasn't in love, so I switched out the inserts from an old pair of hikers I had laying around. Now at 4 weeks, I have to say that they still just don't feel right. Most of the problem does seem to stem from them feeling too high and also from that gusseted tongue. Too bad because I really like the look and the durability of the shoe. I have not given up, maybe they need more miles on them for me to find love again.

Did work for my foot -
I can understand why people like this shoe, but it just didn't work for me. I like the wide toe box, but my heel wouldn't stay in the shoe no matter how tight I tried to tie it. I have a high in-step and the Targhee just doesn't accommodate for this. Unfortunately I wore it for a long hike and am now out the $$$$.

Very comfortable light boot -
They breathe! (As advertised) They breathe well, support the arch (not as good as orthotics, but much better than average) and they're light and comfortable. Haven't had them long, but I also haven't had a more comfortable boot yet among Columbia and Timberland. You'll have a hard time going wrong.

Another gold -
I have been wearing Targhee ones for over 2 years now. The soles started separating so I sumo glued them back on. Shoes are tough. Didn't realize how worn my olds were until I got my new pair of "II's" today. Size is still good. I can even tell an improvement over the old. The heel is a little slippy but they just need to be broken in. I even chose these over the Lowa Jannu Lo especially after seeing how beat up my 1st generations are. That rubber toe wins cuz I sure do kick a lot of stuff.

Great looks but don't hold up as well -
I have had multiple pairs of Keens and keep coming back for the comfort and looks. While the looks and overall comfort are what is expected in Keens, they do not hold up as well as my other pairs. I found with normal wear and tear the soles started to come apart much faster than other Keens. The laces also quickly begin to fray. While Keen has better looks and comfort, they do not match the durability of Lowa.

I Have Two Pair -
I bought a pair of these on 03-10-07. They do run a little smaller so I bought a 1/2 size larger than I usually wear. The fit is great. The footbeds are better than most but I always use orthotic beds so I changed them out. They are definitely waterproof but they do not breathe well so be prepared for some hot feet if it's hot outside. When it's cooler, no problem. They wear like iron and look great. The wrap around rubber toe is wonderful for your foot when you slam it into brush and rocks and it keeps the shoe looking good. Traction is good whether its rocks, loose talus or mud you are on. When I'm not "off-road" with them, I wear them to power walk in everyday for at least 2 1/2 miles. I usually wear a pack (17-20 lbs.) and always use trekking poles when I walk. I try to stay in shape with the gear I may use at any given time. I use Swix rubber tips on my poles for my everyday walking. I wore all the lugs off the bottom of the first pair of shoes after 280 miles of walking on asphalt and a little concrete. I bought a new pair just before leaving for Durango, Mesa Verde and the Sandias. I wore them on Animas Mountain, Goulding Creek Trail in the Hermosa Cliffs, Petroglyph Point Canyon Trail in Mesa Verde and South Crest Trail in the Sandias. These shoes wear like iron except for the soft lugs on their soles. I don't think this is much of an issue since by the time you put 300 miles on them on the real trails, they will be more worn overall compared to daily walking around town. When I wear the soles of the second pair out, I will probably buy another pair. Keen makes a very high quality shoe. I wish these had better breathing. The original pair that I own looks almost like new until you look at the soles. Both pairs I own are the Walnut color which really hides the dirt and scuffs. The lighter colors that are offered may not keep their new look as long as darker colors.

Great comfortable shoe - Get half size bigger -
I think this is one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned. The footbed is very soft and feels solid at the same time. The shoe does fit about a half size small. I wear a 12 and a 13 fits really good.

Targhee II -- a very nice shoe -
After reading other reviews, I ordered this shoe 1 size larger than normal. I was a little skeptical because my Keen sandals are 1/2 size larger than designated. However, the others were right, this shoe runs small. For me 1 size up was the perfect fit.
For the first few wearings I had trouble getting the laces tight enough to feel comfortable on rough terrain; but it must have been a wear-in issue because they are very good now. I rated the arch support as moderate because I generally have to replace all my OEM insoles with firmer ones. These insoles are better than most manufacturers provide out of the box.

I love the look, support and feel of the shoe. Keen's sizing, though, baffles me; I normally wear a 9 1/2 but had to exchange twice to 10 1/2, and probably could have even comfortably gone to size 11. Zappos shipping was prompt and refunds were very quick with no questions asked though.

Typical Keen Shoe-
This is the second pair of Keen footwear that I own. The Targhee has the familiar Keen footbed that many with wide feet love.
Sizing was an issue: Based on previous reviews, ordered one size up and had to return for yet an even bigger size. Normally I wear a 10 to 10.5, yet for these shoes, a size 12 fit best.
Out of the box, wore shoes for 8+ hours with no discomfort or felt need for extended break-in.
Over all- Great shoes, decent quality, sizing 2x over normal.

Very nice shoe!
As with other Keen shoes I have, these are well made and have performed great. This model seems to run slightly snug, but once broken in is great. For a hiker, the snugger fit gives a nice feel of stability and grip. All things considered, I highly recommend.

Great Shoe, but it runs a little small -
Love the shoe, but it really is not a 10.5. Feels like a 10.

Great Shoe, But Needs Better Glue -
The shoe is a good looking shoe. It feels comfortable when walking, and it is waterproof. The sole is a bit hard, but it helps when you are walking on rough or rocky terrain. The sole did start to come apart from the upper on one shoe, so it will be replaced. Reading other reviews, I see that this has happened before. I do like the shoe and recommend them for out door walking. I'm 6'2" and 245 pounds and they really make hiking a breeze.

Disappointed that these broke through their waterproof layer at the leather cut just behind the toe on both sides and on both shoes over the last 4 months. So, these don't last very long with respect to waterproofness. Still have more sole and upper wear, probably 2 years more. But, USELESS as a hiking shoe because of the loss of waterproofness at these four points low on the uppers.

Size was fine but he tried 2 pair and I’ve tried 2 as well but there are ridges and seams inside that put pressure on feet. Each pair tried had a different problem. I finally scored with my 3rd pair that I could move the tongue enough to cushion a seam. Too bad because the fit was great fr each of us (mine was a 6 Womens)

Fit is good. Accurate for a 15. The quality of the shoes is declining from past pairs I have bought - I had the tread/grip on the sides of the shoes come loose and start flopping around, the the seams near the front tore so the shoes did not stay waterproof/resistant for long. They are comforatble, great for hiking or walking, but they don't hold up like earlier pairs. Oh and the shoelaces must be coated with teflon because getting them to stay tied for the length of a walk takes a miracle worker!

Returning these altho' I REALLY wanted them to work. I wanted Keens in something other than earth tones. I've been wearing a pair of Voyagers for years and was hoping for a similar fit.
Nice looking but my toe bumped the toebox and they just felt too narrow.

Targhee II is a sturdy, handsome shoe. I wish I could love it. Unfortunately the EE I ordered was not wide enough for my feet. I could have tolerated that, but there was another problem: the insole of the left shoe was bumpy and hurt my feet. The right shoe was fine. I guess it is some kind of manufacturing or quality control flaw. I would have kept the shoe with the hope that they would stretch, but I couldn't overcome the discomfort in the left shoe. Sorry I can't keep them!
