My bad experience - I bought these boots a year ago with high hopes, as I own numerous keen shoes/sandals. They were the most comfortable, lightweight boots I have ever worn. I'm a field biologist and spend a lot of time working in rugged terrain. The tread on the boots began to separate (glue not holding) after less than a month of wearing in the field. I returned them for another pair, and sure enough the new ones began to separate in the same exact spot! I returned those and haven't tried them again. I can say they were the extremely comfortable while they lasted. I was sad to see them fall apart, as I love keen shoes. I bought my wife a pair of shoes with same tread and they also fell apart, we returned those and they fell apart again. So, we have gone through 4 pairs of shoes with this tread pattern and all of them have separated! I emailed Keen and they gave me a cookie cutter response about how they are always improving their adhesives, etc. I continue to buy Keen shoes, but will not buy any pair with similar tread.

My husband wore these occasionally and they only lasted @ 18 months before the sole of one of the boots separated. I thought I had splurged on a reputable brand but was sorely disappointed.

These boots are awful. The sole is already separating from the rest of the shoe. They used to last at least 2-3 years, but these are not worth any money at all!

These were for my husband. They felt great when he put them on and wore them around the house. First time out doors last week (short walk--2 miles)...not so much. He is still recovering, the front of his foot is bruised and swollen, and the orthopedist he saw this morning says it is because the heel was loose and the arch too far forward--and that this brand is famous for that problem. Orthopedist called it "hiker's toe bang". The review in my husband's words: "The heel and arch are too wide for a human foot. Beware! This is not a boot for people with wide toe boxes, it is a boot for people with massively wide heels and no arch!"
I'd also recommend:
Columbia ended up being a much better fit.

Fit and size was good. material was poor. The rubber separated from the foam part of the shoe after 2 weeks of light use.

I am so discouraged with Zappos and all shoe makers. I ordered Double EE and these are more narrow than the medium width shoes I can't get into at the shoe store. Why does Zappos let these shoe makers label their shoes as wide when they are narrower than medium? Well, if they can make money this way, I have to order 10 different sizes of shoes all marked as Double EE or wide before I find one that is actually wide. I guess Zappos can afford the "pay for nine orders shipped both ways to sell one pair" and as long as they do, I will keep fishing until I find the one wide shoe that is actually wide.

Most shoes today require ordering one half to a full size larger than what you would expect based on measuring the length of your foot. This shoe is no different. The width of this shoe was great as I have wide feet and the wide version fit very well. The reason I returned these shoes was that the foot bed was very uncomfortable and felt like I was walking on small rocks. I could not see putting 2000 miles on these shoes as I had done with a previous pair from another manufacturer! Keen are generally good shoes but not this model. I would not recommend these for hiking of any kind!

Boots appear to have been worn before. The boots have scuff marks on leather uppers and side of soles and the leather appears worn.

I'm amazed these shoes have such great reviews. I'm female but have to order men's shoes, since the women's shoes are cut as if we all have narrow feet with toes that taper. My toe box is wide, and I'm laughing at how these wides are not wide at all. The sole is also stiff, with no cushion at all, and maybe these have arch support, if you have no arch. They're certainly not supportive of my high arch. I also wear a women's 8.5, which is men's 6.5, but in these I needed a men's 8.
I'd also recommend:

Thought I'd give this brand a try based on all the starry reviews. Upon opening the box I was surprised and very disappointed in the poor build quality of these boots and decided to return them before even trying them on. The stitching in several locations was slightly loose allowing seams to have small, but noticeable gaps. In several spots the joining pieces did not match up smoothly, which gave a slip shod appearance. Also where the rubber outsole sole joins the leather upper, the seam was not sealed completely and there were multiple gaps - which in my estimation would allow small amounts of water and debris to slowly (or rapidly) infiltrate and then separate the sole from the leather upper. Overall did not paper to be a well made item, and is noticeably lesser quality then my Merrill's or Asolo products that I normally wear for hiking and outdoor activities. I would not expect them to last long with heavy outdoor use - maybe nice for walking in the city park or as work boots in a clean dry environment.

Once again, I received returned/used merchandise. Boots were fully laced and scuffed-- I wonder how many days they were worn before they were previously returned. Also: they felt ~1/2 size bigger than my current Keen boots. Returning and heading to a brick & mortar store.

I have been a LOYAL Keen owner for 10+ years and this is the first shoe that has completely failed me. I owned them less than six months and the glue holding the sole to the leather upper gave way on both shoes. I've read numerous reports of this happening to others, but my positive past experiences rules the day. I'm returning these boots with the hope that Keen figures out their problems and I can buy another pair. #disappointedinWisco

Bought these boots in May, but did not start wearing them until October. Stylish and feel great, but the rubber soles have torn right off. I can literally pull the tred right off the shoe.

These boots are extremely stable and great for walking- however, in my personal case, my feet were extremely hot in them and I returned them. FYI the men's 7/5 fits a women's size 8.5 beautifully but there's a seriously problem with the interior climate- too bad otherwise great boot!

The rubber sole is falling apart and separating from the bottom of the shoe. I did not pay this much for something designed for work wear to fall apart in less than a year. I purchased them at the end of March 2015 and it is now the first part of October 2015. They are horrible quality and they do not keep my feet dry anymore.

If you want a pair of hiking boots that you have to re-lace every ten minutes on a hike then these boots are great! The lacing system is a joke...I can't keep the boot tight on my foot. It literally loosens up every ten minutes. When I finally said screw it and just tried to enjoy my hike I ended up with terrible blisters because my feet were moving around in the boot too much. I have tried new laces and every way possible to effectively lace these things but it's not happening. Now I have new/used boots that I can't wear!

First time for everything (unfortunately). I own 2 pairs of these same shows...identical in size, style and general amount of use. Despite only part time use both pairs (in fact all 4 individual boots) have suffered the same fate of the shoelace "holders" have ripped. This is clearly a manufacturing defect as the eyelets have torn right from the top pair right down to the final pair nearest the toes. When you consider that those last pair (nearest the toes) really has very little pressure on them even if one were to cinch down the laces (which would be uncomfortable I'd think) then you realize that wear is not the culprit but rather poor material quality was chosen for the sewn on eyelets. So in conclusion, The boots aren't throw away cheap but I'm left with 2 pair of very comfortable, barely worn in walking boots that are now nothing more than ready to be filled boat anchors. It really does stink because the overall condition is barely broken in (pretty much right when they get to the most comfortable) but with no way to keep the laces tied they are of no use. Sorry Keen, if you'll improve this one area of quality then I'll be back with wallet in hand. Until then, invest the money I paid in some Q/C for substantially better materials.

This is an overpriced boot. The main problem with these boots is that the fabric eyelets break and it's very difficult to re-rig, especially in the field. They should have metal eyelets for the price. The only reason I bought these boots is that they were the only ones available in my large size. I would not recommend these to anyone.
