Shoe runs short - This shoe was very comfortable, but for some reason it runs short. I wear 10.5 in all other New Balance shoes I own, but this shoe was too small at size 11. I got the narrow width and that was perfect, though.

Comfy but I think the all-suede version looks better - This version fits fine at a 7 1/2 but in the all-suede version I needed an 8. Both are excellent, very comfy.

So Far So Good... I've been walking on woodland paths and gravel roads in these shoes 4-6 miles daily since purchase. No blisters, very short break in time, waterproofing seem up to snuff. As a person with very wide, hard to fit feet these really have exceeded expectations.

Boot Review - Looks good and is comfortable, although the heel is a little bit wide for a wide size.

Good hiking shoe for wide feet - This is a good hiking shoe for people who like NBs wide running shoes. Good width and height in the toe box and nice ankle support and stability for rocky terrain. I just wore it all weekend for hiking in the Sierras and it felt good. It's not great only because it has very little arch support. I wear my orthotics with it, which makes up for a lot, but I still wished it had a little more.

Hiker - Fit was as expected as I have ordered a number of New Balance in 8-EE over time. No one else has this size in athletic/hiking footwear. A little soft for the White Mountain hike I did (which was very boulder), but they are comfortable and very light. Good for easier day hikes. If you are backpacking with heavy gear or doing very rocky terrain, you will need something sturdier.

Needs to be adapted - I have planter fasciitis and needed a waterproof shoe for winter walking of my dogs. These fit the bill, but the fit is not perfect. I bought my usual NB size 81/2; however, the B width is really wide. I can't go a half size smaller because they would be too short. So I adapted by using a second insole and wearing two pair of socks. Since I won't be using them except for the winter season, they should work fine.

I have a narrow foot, especially the heel, and was searching for a light, cool hiking boot for warmer weather. This one is light, but very stiff. It seems to run a half-size short.

I wore these in the house for several hours debating about whether to keep them and kind of wish I had decided to send them back--too late now. They are fairly comfortable, but my feet get sweaty in them and that is unusual for me. They don't breathe well. I'm sure I'll wear them out--have been wearing them quite a bit, but wouldn't buy another pair--not good enough to be worth the price. They do run a little short. I wear 8.5 and after reading reviews bought a 9. This was the right size. Narrow size fits like it should.

Great looking boot but rubbed on my right little toe - These boots look really great, accommodate my custom orthotic, and felt great walking around the house when I tried them on. However, when I walked in them on my trip to Germany, I got a pressure blister on my right little toe on the very first day. They didn't feel too narrow, so maybe it's just an issue with their construction at that one point (I had no problems whatsoever on the left foot). I plan to take them to a cobbler to see if it can be stretched and hope that solves the problem. If I hadn't gotten the blister, I would have given them a 5-star rating.

Ouch! I ordered this is a 6.5 and 7. WW...I usually wear 6W but wanted it larger for hiking socks...OMG! They hurt like heck with one regular sock...probably okay for normal width feet but not mine...too bad cuz they are cute and waterproof.

Good but not great - I found this model to run narrow, I had to send back the first pair I ordered in a "D" and get the double "EE" - I have never had to do that with any other wide shoe. Took a while to break in as they are very stiff. New Balance makes a wide shoe but there is still not good toe room.

Smaller than expected - I agree, these shoes run shorter than expected. If you are going to buy this shoe, buy it 1/2 size larger. I can't return these shoes because I wore them on the trail and by the time I was done hiking 6 miles, my toes and toe nails were throbbing in pain and were tender for a couple of days afterward. Zappos Rocks though, it's not their fault.

Too Short - I only rated this shoe 3 stars for "overall" just because it ran too short for me. Normally I wear a 10 1/2 Narrow, which is almost impossible to find. Well I finally found one in this great shoe (which also has the roll bar I need for supination), but my toes bumped the ends. Unfortunately, there is no 11 N available, so I'm out of luck. If you can find a length you're comfortable with, I highly recommend this shoe for comfort. It also hugged my skinny foot very securely!

Dry, but short - I have narrow feet (10 AA) and wear substantial orthotics. I work outside installing and working in gardens. I have needed waterproof shoes that can support my feet, but have never been able to find them for the past eight or so years. These shoes are the closest I've come yet. They are definitely waterproof, but they do not run true to size as the ball of my foot falls a little above the widest part and my toes are squeezed. It feels bad over a long day, something I did not realize in my "trial" wearing inside. I should have gotten a half size larger, I think, but am not sure this would make them feel better over a long day. I do love the way they look.

New Balance WW977 - The shoe is very comfortable and can be worn for long periods of time. I have severe pronation in one of my feet so I used my own orthodics. While I would recommend this show for light hiking, I would not recommend for other use. The Zappos agent said that this would be good for use at the Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks. Unfortunately, one of the popular trails at Zion required time in the water and the shoe insides did not hold up. There is a cardboard insole under the cushion insole that fell apart and turned my socks and foot red. My son had the same pair in a men's size and it did the same thing to him. This disappointed me greatly. I would recommend the shoe for regular or very light hiking only.

Very stiff shoe. I usually take the same size in New Balance, but this shoe felt small and narrow. Nice roll when walking, but no cushion.

Runs small, not comfortable - The shoe runs a half size small and width at EE wasn't wide enough. I usually do fine with EE, but not these. Very stiff in the back & sides.

Even the "wide" is too narrow try something else - I had high hopes for these shoes but when I received them I tried them on immediately and barely could get my foot into them. The width was sooo small. I couldn't even get my foot all the way in. I usually wear a wide, that's what they said this was. However, it seemed "narrow" to me. Will never try New Balance again.

This shoe is short. I wear a size 12 wide, and my toes are jammed up against the front of this shoe. Now I need to figure out how I can loose some weight on my feet for it to fit! It's sad because it is such a good looking shoe, and strong too! Unfortunately it does not come in a 12.5 wide, so I cannot get it exchanged. I had to end up buying a Men's Clarks Molten in a size 10 medium to get a proper fitting hiking boot.

Painful and small. New Balance shoes usually run short and narrow for me. So I wanted to order a 7.5 double wide in these but it wasn't available in the color I wanted, so I went with a 7 wide (my usual size with other brands). Should have listened to my instincts and not the reviewers who said the shoe runs large. And to the person who said this boot was excellent for their Tarsal Tunnel, I'm glad it worked for you but for me this shoe dug terribly into all the areas my Tarsal Tunnel affects. They had to go right back to Zappos.
