This was the second pair of hiking boots I ordered from Zappos. The return was easy and hassle free. This pair was just right after three 4 mile walks. Haven't tested the waterproof aspect yet.

These boots ran small with the first pair I bought. I normally take a 10 but had to send those back for a 10½, which fit just right. These are comfortable out of the box.

These are my most favorite hiking boots. This is the third pair I have purchased and they are perfect, so much better than the overpriced hiking boots found in local store. These shoes are comfortable from the first day. No need to break in. They last forever. Only the sole wears out with my vigorous hiking and even that takes time.

I received my Hi-Techs today and it was love at first fit! Years ago I had bought some NorthFace boots that were good but slightly too long, so I would occasionally trip when walking but they were comfortable enough that I wanted more hiking boots so I bought some Merrells. I never cared much for them because they hurt and they wore out in less time than my North Face boots. So I was going to buy some more North Face but they did not have my size so I opted for these Hi-Techs and they are an excellent choice. They are everything that I wanted in all around rugged hikers. They are light on my feet but tough enough to be up to the challenge and comfortable. Of course Zappos' customer care remains tops and I really appreciate the patient assistance that I received.

I had these shoes for seven years. I wore them at work for two summers straight, I would throw them on for quick errand runs around town, and I took them traveling from Alaska to Antarctica and everywhere in between. They held up great. The reason that I got rid of them was that the rubber sole started getting a little worn (after seven years who can blame them) and I did not have room in my luggage to bring them home from Nepal. I came online to buy a new replacement pair, and I have already started breaking them in!

I just bought my second pair of Altitude 4s, and I couldn't be more excited. Hiking has been my favorite form of recreation for most of my life, and I purchased my first pair of Altitude 4s back in 2007 (actually, they were a gift). They lasted 3 years, and I hiked all over the Ozarks and in many places in Upstate New York in that time -- many many miles of rugged trails are beneath those boots. The waterproofing never wore out (I still use them in them in the snow) and the support didn't give out until the third year -- and I have low arches and permanently damaged big toe joint. Then I had a gift card for a store that didn't carry these and I met someone who raved about Timberlands, so I bought a pair of Timberlands with that gift card, which didn't fit well (way too big) and hurt my toe joint. The Timberlands have gone on maybe half the hikes my old Hi-Tecs did and I already am going back to the Altitude 4. They're the best boots out there.

Zappos always ships these very quickly. My husband has rods & screws in his one leg and is on his feet all day, these boots are great for him. We've been buying them for 4 years now and can't complain about the comfort and quality!

Bought these for my nephew for his birthday. He said they are great. He lives in Colorado, so there is all kinds of terrain; he is prepared for whatever the weather brings. Great purchase!

I love the fit and feel of this boot. I didn't notice that the boot has grommets instead of lace holes. In the past I've always experienced these breaking and how hard they are to replace. Shoe lace holes are the way to go on a hiking boot you expect to last for a couple of years.

This is a followup to my previous review (August 2013). I have hiked over 200 miles in these boots so far and every day I wear them they exceed my expectations. 200 miles and still look very new and still very much watertight. The arch support is top notch, and it also helps keep my toes from slamming into the front of my boots when going down hill. These boots are top performers no matter if you are hiking in the summer, using crampons or microspikes when the trail is slick, or full blown snowshoeing. With a pair of thick hiking boots, my feet are warm down to 0 degrees (I haven't tested them colder yet, but I will). As I said in my last review, no real break in required. I wore them around the house for a couple of hours to make sure they were what I wanted, then hit the trail for a 10 mile hike. These boots have never caused me a blister. You cannot go wrong with these boots! They are top notch, and I will be purchasing them again.

Just ordered my 2nd pair....my first pair lasted 2 years (I only wear them in winter). I am a FedEx delivery contractor and I'm out in every kind of crap weather constantly walking/driving. My only request of any footwear I work in is that no water comes in, they feel like sneakers, no heat/moisture build up inside. I've tried many shoes to work in over the years, these are my favorite!

Second pair I bought. First pair lasted 3 years of daily use as my main pair of shoes. Takes a beating and still works great.

Wow! These are by far the best pair of hiking boots I have ever owned. I put them on to test the size, the next day I did a hard 5 mile hike with them, and no issues. Total comfort from the first steps. Just finished up with a 10 mile hike and no issues.

Finally! A boot that fits right out of the box! I've tried several other brands and styles with no luck. I require a wide shoe and the Hi-Tec was the first that provided a true wide width boot. I love 'em...!!!

My second pair. I changed jobs and do not wear them everyday, but they have managed to last about 2 years. I still highly recommend them if you are looking for a great boot that will last!

I have been looking for good boots for months. I found a pair of these at Goodwill for very little and I am totally impressed. These are by far the best boots. I will be buying them from here on out.

These are my motorcycle/hiking boot and so far I really like them. Fit well, look great and are all day comfortable.

Awesome boots for anything, walking, hiking, gardening, etc...very comfortable as I have high arches and very wide feet and I am a female but always have to order mens shoes to get the width I need. Love Hi Tec boots good quality and comfort.

Great Walking shoes - I am a mail carrier in Mesa AZ and can’t say enough about these boots for my job. They are sturdy, waterproof and feel great.

These boots are the best. I walk a mile to the subway from my house. Working 12 hour days, 7 days a week, for the last 5 weeks. I am on my feet all day working in a wood shop; these boots make it comfortable enough for me to make it through the day. I suggest everyone have a pair.

Great boot - This is a great boot. Being waterproof was a huge plus for me. The cushion in the sole is great for long hikes. It fit true to size. My husband had purchased a pair and so I ordered the men’s size for me and it fit perfect....

Great shoe...great online store! First of all, Zappos was WONDERFUL! I ordered these a few days before Christmas and forgot to change my address in my profile, so they were sent to the wrong address. Zappos sent out a second pair to the correct address (free rush delivery) and didn't charge me any extra. I was quite impressed. As for the shoes, they are wonderful. My husband can't find any other boot he likes better. Will definitely buy this boot from Zappos again!

Excellent all-weather walking boot - This is my second pair of Altitude IVs. I have flat, sensitive feet and have great difficulty finding comfortable, supportive footwear. These boots have just the right rigidity of arch and cushioned support to keep my feet comfortable, even after long hikes. Orthotics work well with this boot also. Durable, attractive, great price!

Excellent boot. Very comfortable and warm in cold weather. I take a 14 2E in a Brooks running shoe, but 13 Wide in this boot. Very smooth transaction. Highly recommended.
