I just returned from three days backpacking in the Nantahala forest in North Carolina, wearing this shoe. This was my first hiking trip with the shoe and it was perfectly comfortable. It was a wet weekend, and we had stream crossings, and the shoe stayed dry. I had good traction on slippery rocks and plenty of ankle support. It felt good going up and down hills. I have a wide foot, and this shoe was comfortable. I wear a 6.5 or 7 C in street shoes and I got an 8.5 in this shoe. I did put in a more cushioned insole with a good arch support. The insole it came with was okay in the arch support but I like more cushioning. Overall, I was very pleased with the shoe.

These are very sturdy, supportive boots. I wouldn't say they don't require breaking in but they are very comfortable. They have very rough tread and the ankle support is very rigid which is great for protection but does rub your ankles a bit. Note though these are not as black as the picture seems they are more grey in color. Overall, happy with the purchase.

I really liked these, unfortunately they really hurt my ankles. Just standing in my kitchen they dug in painfully. They're too stiff. Maybe if I was willing to break them in they'd be okay, but I was looking for something that would be comfortable out of the box. But everything else about them was perfect. I have high arches and they had good support, and I have tiny, wide feet and the fit was great. I normally wear a 6.5 and I got the 7 and they were just right. I'm returning these and trying a few Keens that don't cover the ankle.

Just got these boots, should have listened to the reviews. Please order a half size up or try on at a local store for size, then order. Otherwise, great looking boot with tons of support. Cannot wait till replacement pair arrives.

These boots look great, and the footbed is extremely comfortable and well-cushioned. Unfortunately, after wearing them around the house for several days I found my ankles were getting sore and red. Will have to return them. Hoping the shoe, with a lower cut will work for me!

Love these boots! I don't wear them for hiking, so please don't consider my review if you will be utilizing them for that purpose. I just wanted a warm boot with traction that I could wear for walking down the street on wet, snowy sidewalks without my feet getting wet. These have great traction, have kept my feet dry, and are quite comfortable. The toe area actually feels a bit big, but since I'm not hiking, I just wear regular thin knee socks. It is snug around the ankles however, and that takes some getting used to. No rubbing/blister issues and did not need to break in. Comfy from day 1.

I used these for 4 days of backpacking in some pretty serious terrain. Crossed several streams and my feet never got wet, so they are definitely waterproof. My only complaint is that the outsides of my ankles hurt from pressure the shoe put on them, but that was on day 3.

These seem comfortable and supportive. Where we live, Idaho at 6200' we need boots pretty much seven months a year. I wanted something I could wear that I could use inside and out, not as snow boots, I have Sorels for the snow, but boots that would go across slushy parking lots, etc and still keep feet warm and dry. The color is nice, and the fit seems good. I ordered a half size up which allows for good pair of Smartwool socks. I am still testing them around the house.

I ordered this because it was supposed to be a waterproof version of the Keen Voyageur Mid, and I love the Voyageur. The foot fit just about right, but the ankle has an additional seam, and it hit my ankle in just the wrong spot. I could tell that if I wore it for more than a few minutes I would have bruising.

I bought this boot to wear on a trip in October. I tried it on and it was okay, but felt wide on my foot. I ended up giving them to my daughter, who they fit perfectly, and buying a pair of Merrells, which fit me perfectly.

I must say first thing, these are one of the most comfortable hikers I have owned; right out of the box. Most take breaking in, but not these. As others had suggested I did order a 1/2 size larger and I'm glad I did. However; I took them on a camping vacation to hike the northern shore of Lake Superior in Ontario Canada which is very rocky. I found out these boots DO NOT have very good traction on wet rocky trails. My feet did stay completely dry in them, though! My suggestion to Keen would be to add a Vibram sole and I think they would be practically perfect.

Great waterproof hiking boots. They're pretty stiff and rub against my ankles, but I'm hoping it will soften the more I wear them. Wide enough for my wide feet, and has good arch support which I need!

Tried this boot along with the Keen Voyageur Mid and the Merrell Cham Arc 2 Mid. The Keen boots were great looking but a little large in the toe box and stiff around the ankles. Also, the foot bed seemed hard. I went with the Merrell. For me, it fit perfectly and was cushioned in all the right places. Also, had to order 1/2 size up for all 3 boots. The Keen boots are well-rated so it probably depends on the fit for your foot and individual preferences.

Good looking hiking boot. Felt sturdy wearing it around the house. However, it was too narrow for my foot so I'm sending it back. Keen is usually very high quality - I've had a pair of Keens before - so I'm disappointed these didn't work out.

Comfortable shoe/boot. Runs smaller than my other Keens (needed a full size bigger in these, not my normal 1/2 bigger in Keens). Toe box is not as wide as my other Keens...looks better, but not as roomy. I walk about 10-15 miles per day for my job and Keens are the only shoes that allow me to be pain free! Crazy fast shipping; ordered 8pm and has them by 11:00 AM the next day!

I bought this boot in a half size larger than my normal size nine. I have a classic Daisey Duck foot with wide toe box needs coupled with a must have narrow heel. These Keen hikers fit perfectly. There is enough room for Smart wool socks and a thin insole with arch support. These boots are great for dry trail hiking but are are not really for multiple day hikes. However, they are just right for day hikes and have a suitable tread pattern. They are keepers for me.

I have tried on about every single hiking boot out there thanks to Zappos easy return policy and these were the only ones that fit right. I own 2 pairs and I keep in my husband's car for those spur of the moment hikes. The sole is the best! The fit is great except they are a little short so I recommend ordering 1/2 size larger than normal which is pretty normal for boots anyhow. I will say after wearing and hiking in them for over a year now that they do tend to leave my Achilles tendon a little sore after hiking but the positives outweigh the negatives.

As always excellent service from Zappo\'s representatives. My shipment arrived 10 hours after I made the order. The shoe fitted perfectly and I am very happy. This is my second Keen Targhee II shoe. Unfortunately the shoe does not seem to stay waterproof more than a year, but since the fit is excellent I just get a new pair.

Purchased these boots for use in trudging across campus in the snow. I have horrible feet to fit and I’ve loved these boots from the beginning. I did purchase 1/2 size up. I wear custom orthotics and they fit just fine. Love all the toe wiggle room and will most likely purchase Keens from now on. These boots provided great ankle support and needed no break-in time. Tested them out on a short hike in Zion recently and can’t wait to hit Bryce Canyon this summer.

Great hiking boots so far as I\'ve only really worn them hiking to the Waimano Waterfall on Oahu. Really comfortable, descent tread and grip. I\'m happy with them especially for the price. If you have more to spend though, I\'d recommend looking into the more serious hiking boots.

Ran true to size for me. Lots of reviewers said this boot ran small, so I wanted to say that wasn't my experience. I normally wear an 8.5 in a dress shoe and 9 in sneakers and hiking boots of various brands. The 9 fit fine, a little large if anything, even with hiking socks. I bought the Concord color and found it to be a nice shade of brown with a bit of reddishness. The boot is kind of cute and funky looking compared to other hiking boots I own.

Consistent with other reviewers - no break in period needed! These were completely comfortable out of the box. I got a full size larger than I normally wear and they fit great. My only complaint was that the included laces were pretty short. People with arthritis or carpal tunnel might want to invest in longer laces to make tying easier.

Keen Targhee II - Super comfortable for hard to fit feet like mine. These boots have a great cushion and terrific traction. Order 1/2 size larger as everyone has suggested for they do run small. I'm not sure if I would wear them hiking as they don't have quite enough ankle support for my taste. One complaint - after wearing them almost constantly for 2 years (late fall, winter, early spring), they are beginning to fall apart at the seams (I didn't expect them to fall apart so quickly) and I've had to re-order a new pair.

Tough and Flexible - My feet are a little narrow so I have a hard time finding hiking boots. These are just right (although ordering a half size up advice is definitely correct. I went from 8.5 to 9). The shoes have some arch support that I wasn't too sure about at first, but it turned out to be great. They are really comfortable and flexible, but provide the amount of ankle support of a stiffer shoe. My one complaint is that they aren't too breathable. The leather exterior is great for fit and toughness, but as the weather warms they are a little hot.

Good shoe - Overall I really like this shoe. I bought it to go hiking and camping - haven't done either of those yet, so I'm not sure how it will go, but it's done the job around town. I'm normally an 8, but after reading some reviews, I ordered an 8 1/2. They still feel a little small, but I'm hoping they'll loosen up a bit as I wear them more. The shoelaces are very short and too thick for the eyelets at the top of the shoe. If you leave them out of the hooks though, the shoe rubs at the back and your heels slip around. Will need to get new laces before I do any serious hiking.
