I purchased these to replace another pair I've had and loved for years. One strange thing one the new pair is that the tongue seems too short. Other than that, they're great.

Haven't hiked with these yet, but worked in the yard. They were comfortable right away and have a roomy toe area. With foot problems and needing arch support, I think these will do the trick.

Wow! Bought two pair of shoes because I wasn't sure of the size; return the other pair and Zappos was great about it! Looks like my feet have found a home!

I LOVE these shoes. I got the same pair in the low cut hiking shoe as well. They are very comfortable. I just hiked up a "mountain" this last weekend and they were ready to use out of the box. No time was required to "break them in". I have wide feet and normally need to order a wide. These were perfect! (Medium) They are a little warm for what I was looking for. They aren't vented at all. They will be perfect for spring, fall or winter. I recommend these shoes.

Wore them straight out of the box on a 16 mile, moderate to strenuous hike in the Sierra Nevadas -- very comfortable and no blisters to speak of! I usually endure some amount of pain when hiking due to my bunions...but in these shoes I didn't feel the usual pain that I feel. They are nice and roomy in the toe-box area. Also, love the traction of the soles -- I was able to scramble granite boulders with ease and confidence. They were so comfortable I wore them for three straight days even at my campsite (in lieu of flip-flops.) For best comfort (and to save toes) I usually buy my active shoes (like running shoes) a half size up -- which is the 7. These felt just fine that way.

These are very comfortable boots. I wore them on an odyssey trip from Miami to Los Angeles, north to the Big Trees and the Olympic Peninsula. They are my go-tos for long flights as they are light weight and I could wear them loosened. Mine seemed waterproof on the Olympic Peninsula in the rainforest, though the horse outfitter on our ride, in the identical boots, said hers are no longer watertight after a couple years of heavy rain. So, that verdict is out. They are comfortable right out of the box! They are not grippy on moss, though.

Great hiking boots. Very lightweight. Comfortable right out of the box. No break-in period needed. Didn't put the waterproofing to the full test but did step in a shallow stream without any problems. Traction is good. Some slippage on mossy wet rocks but not sure any boot would have traction on that surface. I also like the mid ankle height. No digging into the Achilles' tendon but still plenty of ankle support.

I tried on several pairs of Keen shoes in an REI store but they didn't feel comfortable. Decided to give this pair a try, since Zappos offers free returns. These actually felt awful the first time I put them on in the house, so I thought I would be sending them back. Then, I received my custom orthotics from the foot doctor and realized that the high arches in these shoes is just what the doctor ordered. So, I'm keeping them and wearing them in the house until I get used to the high arches! They do run 1/2 size small, so knowing this I ordered them big and they worked perfectly as far as toe-room goes.

So pleased with these. I almost sent them back right after trying them on because there was pressure on the back of my calf/ankle from the boot. (I usually prefer low cut boots). Luckily, however, I absolutely had to have a pair of boots for a hike that day, and decided to give these a go. They broke in within 10 minutes. I do not believe boots need to be "broken in" over a period of time - I buy them when they fit right out of the box. I'm ever thankful I decided to break that rule and keep these. They are wonderfully comfortable, have great options for adjusting the laces at various points (important when boulder hopping) and I have confirmed that they are moisture resistant. I say that only because I did not give them the "oops I was leaping for a rock in the stream and missed" test. I did, however, splash through some shallow puddles and kept my feet nice and dry. The soles provided just enough traction to do the rock hopping I needed to cross a couple of streams, and apparently more than my hiking partner on wet grass - he slipped, I did not. Love these boots. I am not a hard core hiker. I live in Alaska, do 5-10 miles of hiking in a day, and avoid the super steep off-trail hikes. I have thick calves that sort of just end at my foot (I hope this is an anonymous review) and create a problem for me finding hiking boots and ski boots that fit correctly without putting too much pressure on my ankle/calf area. These adjust beautifully.

Zappos has always given me great service. Disappointed with my Targhee II Mid Keens. This is my second pair. Can't seem to break them in. First pair were very comfortable and broke in quickly. Thinking that Keen is doing something different with this shoe. Will probably not purchase Keen shoes again. Too expensive to not be comfortable. Just don't enjoy wearing them. I have been trying to break them in for 5 months!

This shoe was wonderful for walking long distances on different soil types, such as sand, silt, gravel, rocks as well as walking indoors on carpets and hard floors. In the hot weather of Silver City, NM, the shoe did not cause my foot to sweat. Wore shoes for 16 hours and still no foot or leg pain. Normal foot size is 5.5 and I ordered a larger size to accomodate Keen socks. Would recommend to order size larger because the shoes have a tight fit. Also, the red color is a darker and deeper red.

I just returned from three days backpacking in the Nantahala forest in North Carolina, wearing this shoe. This was my first hiking trip with the shoe and it was perfectly comfortable. It was a wet weekend, and we had stream crossings, and the shoe stayed dry. I had good traction on slippery rocks and plenty of ankle support. It felt good going up and down hills. I have a wide foot, and this shoe was comfortable. I wear a 6.5 or 7 C in street shoes and I got an 8.5 in this shoe. I did put in a more cushioned insole with a good arch support. The insole it came with was okay in the arch support but I like more cushioning. Overall, I was very pleased with the shoe.

Very comfortable boots! A little tight for me with wool socks but after a couple hiked I broke them in. Definitely recommend these!

These are great boots! Based on past customer reviews, I bought a 1/2 size larger than my normal size (bought 7.5, normally a 7). I'm glad I did, the boots are still a little snug with thick socks, so I might even recommend sizing up a full size, especially if you want to wear thicker socks.
I took them tide-pooling with my friend's Phycology class at Cape Mendocino to break them in. The tred kept me stable on the slippery rocks and algae (impressive). I fell ankle deep into a pool of water and my feet stayed completely dry. The boots were supportive hiking on the sand, on the rocks, and on the algae. Also, my boots were sand-free after walking on the beach, no sand inside!
There was a little rubbing around the top part of my ankle from the boots, but other than that these boots were very comfortable! Great arch support. Also, compared to my last hiking boots, they are a fraction of the weight! I barely even feel them on my feet. These boots are super cute, not masculine like my past boots! Love the green!
I will be taking them backpacking through Europe this summer and am completely confident that they will hold up and keep my feet well protected and comfortable. Great boots!
Thank you Keen and Zappos!

I was looking for some boots with ankle and arch support. When I saw these, I knew that I had liked previous Keen sandals that I purchased last summer, so thought I'd give them a try. I have loved them from the first time I put them on. I have foot problems and very few shoes feel good on my feet, but these definitely do.

Great hiking boots. I wore them on a 10-mile hike without a break-in period. No blisters! Also, these are great for women with a wider toe box like me. Oh, but you do need to size up - at least a half size up.

Great shoe! Very comfortable. Ordered 1/2 size up and they fit beautifully. Love the color. Wore them for the first time today with no problem. It's like they don't need to be broken in at all. Will be climbing my first 14er (in CO) in them this June.

The first time I wore them was to the mall to shop all day. They were so comfortable all day, and it was the first time after shopping all day my lower back did not hurt . . . Sorry to say that I didn't save any money buying them from Zappos. THey are the same price elsewhere.

My new favorite shoes! I purchased these boots for the purpose of light trail hiking. They are capable of so much more than that, I would have no qualms with wearing them over more rugged terrain. Also, they are so comfortable that I find myself looking for excuses to wear them outside of hiking. :) They are true to size, if not just slightly roomy, perfect fit with a pair of hiking socks.

These are very sturdy, supportive boots. I wouldn't say they don't require breaking in but they are very comfortable. They have very rough tread and the ankle support is very rigid which is great for protection but does rub your ankles a bit. Note though these are not as black as the picture seems they are more grey in color. Overall, happy with the purchase.

After a move into the rainy, muddy winter here in the South, I researched hiking boots for weeks. I read so many reviews of so many different brands. I finally committed to these. I read another review and they said to go 1/2 size up. I am typically but not always an 8 1/2. The first pair went back; they were huge. Size 9 Reordered another pair in the 8 1/2 and put them on straight out of the box. Comfortable and super sturdy. Through red clay puddles of water up to my ankles and still have a comfy hike for quite a while. So far, they are warm when they need to be and not warm when they don't. I am a huge fan of these hikers.

I really liked these, unfortunately they really hurt my ankles. Just standing in my kitchen they dug in painfully. They're too stiff. Maybe if I was willing to break them in they'd be okay, but I was looking for something that would be comfortable out of the box. But everything else about them was perfect. I have high arches and they had good support, and I have tiny, wide feet and the fit was great. I normally wear a 6.5 and I got the 7 and they were just right. I'm returning these and trying a few Keens that don't cover the ankle.

I got the boots a half size larger per other reviews, and the size was perfect with thick hiking socks. There was no break-in time, they are lightweight but supportive. My foot is wide at the toes so the Keen round-toe style is perfect for me. I also have narrow heels but the boots don't slip at the heel like others have.

These are amazing boots! They've held up perfectly through several hiking trips and daily, 10 hour use through a true Chicago winter. The only thing is, they do tend to make your feet sweat a lot, so over time they get a little stinky. Nothing a little shoe powder can't fix.
