Great boot! The reviews are definitely true -- order one half to one size larger than you usually wear. I wear 8 1/2 to 9, and I need a 10 in this boot. I have a narrow heel, average width at the widest part of my foot, and a high arch; this boot works for me. Comfort on the ankles at the start -- no breaking in period. Five stars!

This is an amazing hiking boot! Ordered a half size bigger as suggested by other reviews and it was perfect! That only makes sense, with thick hiking socks. This shoe is premium quality, as expected. No time necessary for breaking in. I hit the trails for a long hike the first time out and had zero trouble. The toe cage is easily tightened, due to the strapping and cut of the leather. Also really enjoyed the fact that I could adjust the snugness of the strap at the heal for added ankle support and overall fit. I would highly recommend this boot to anyone looking for some serious hiking footwear. I've indulged in pricier brands and quickly realized that it was wasted money. This boot fits the bill in every way.

Really like these boots so far! If you like Keen sizing/width, then you'll like these boots. They are light, but provide a lot of ankle and arch support. I found them to be true to size and did not to get a 0.5 size bigger.

Love this boot. I am getting ready to buy my third pair. The sole is a bit soft, which is great for traction, but it tends to wear a bit quickly, this last pair has lasted two years, and has many miles on them so I can't complain too much. I still have one of my old pairs and if I'm not hiking, I still wear them to preserve the sole of my hiking pair. My only other comment is that the leather and Keen-Dry material makes the boot run warm, but wearing padded light weight socks helps. I live in a cool climate, so it very rarely bothers me.

I have had Keen Targhee shoes for years...usually order a new one for each summer garden season. I got this mid height for day hikes and just like my old favorites, it fits like a dream. The extra ankle support will be good for walks and hiking. Love them!

I wear a 9.5 and the 10.5 I ordered fit great with thick socks. I have arthritis in my feet so comfort can be a problem for me in my shoes. These boots were awesome right out of the box, went for a 5 mile up hill hike yesterday and they were light, supportive, and my traction and balance were greatly helped by these boots. Highly recommend, stoked with my purchase!

The reviews I read about this boot said they were comfortable immediately. Not true. I developed soreness around my ankles and the front of my lower shin. After wearing them for about 4-5 days they finally were more comfortable. I don't wear this style boot very often. If you purchase them, wear them in your home for a while before deciding to keep them. Don't know if I can wear them again without discomfort.

Putting on a pair of Keen boots is like a homecoming for my feet; from the first time I tried them on I knew right away that I'd found the hiking boot I'd always been looking for. The Targhee II provides an unparalleled combination of comfort and support. Unlike other hikers I've owned over my 35+ years of hiking, these don't require a break in period, and I've never had a blister. The only down side I can think of is the cost. But they're well worth it. The older I've gotten, the more I've come to appreciate the value of comfort and support in my boots. These will really get you up the trail, and keep your legs feeling fresh. Oh - and they're good looking too!

I love this boot, I have worn it for years in my work and for hiking. But think winter, I tripped when the loop of the bow of one shoe hooked on to the hook of the other. (Broke my wrist and hit my head.) I was all ties up and double bowed, etc. It had happened once before but I caught myself. I am not sure if I need shorter laces or if perhaps the hook has been redesigned. I love the boot but am afraid to wear it now.

These fit great! I have bunions and ordered a size bigger and am glad I did. I wear a 7 or 7 1/2 and I got an 8. There is a little too much room in the heal, but since they tie so high, they are secure.

I really wanted to like these boots. I have had the exact same model before and I loved them, but somehow these are different. My last pair of Targhee boots were 10.5 (which seemed ridiculous since I normally wear a 9.5) but they were so comfortable, they could have been size 100 for all I cared. So, at first I ordered this new pair in a 10.5, and they were too big, so I exchanged them for a 10, which is the size I wear in running shoes. I think I had it stuck in my head that there was no way a 9.5 would fit, since I previously wore a 10.5, so I started wearing the size 10 pair, assuming that they mold to my feet as I broke them in. Well, I wish I could return them, but I have worn them a few times outside, so I suppose that I can't. I think that might be a bit too big and they just don't feel right. They are not a cushiony as my old pair, but worst of all, the traction on snow, ice, or wet rocks is terrible. These boots are useless on any slippery surface. I almost killed myself trying to take a walk on a snow covered path, I slipped so many times. My husband was fine in his Vasque boots - even he could not believe how often I was slipping and sliding around. Anyway, I don't know why these are so different than my old Targhee boots, but shame on Keen. I generally love Keen shoes, except for the new narrower fitting models. The original styles of boots, shoes and sandals fit my wide forefoot perfectly. These boots do offer that traditional Keen fit and they keep my feet warm and dry. However, due to the poor traction and inconsistent fit, they will most likely be going to Goodwill. I love Zappos, but this is one case where I really wish I had bought these from REI where, as a member, I would still be able to return them even after wearing them outside.

I've owned a few pairs of Keens over the years for everyday use and for use as hiking boots. I would absolutely not recommend Keen for hiking, or really any intense outdoor use. My experience has been that after the second season - the boot falls apart. I'm fairly active - I walk a lot and hike a lot, but my Keens have consistently fallen apart - come apart at the seems mostly - about half way through my second season. If you are looking for a shoe that you can beat up and will last, keep looking. Otherwise you will be buying an new hiking boot before you know it.

With my hallux limitus it's very hard to find things that are comfortable. These hiking boots have performed wonderfully this winter. They give very firm support, with a bit of a rolling feel when walking, which is what I need. I wore them yesterday when walking in and shoveling 8 inches of snow, and my feet stayed dry and warm. I would definitely say they are cut wide, but you can cinch up the laces so your foot doesn't slip around, so no worries. Great buy!

I normally wear Merrell hikers, but after reading the reviews for this boot, I decided to give it a try. I wear a size 7 shoe, but I ordered an 8 which is my usual size hiker--width wise, they were perfect, unfortunately these were a hair too small. My toes were at the end of the boot and I know I would have lost toenails on the downhill with these boots. I returned them and got a 8.5; they were too big--much too wide when I moved up the half size. My hiking partner bought them from me and they fit her perfectly. Guess they just aren't sized right for my feet. Going back to the Merrell's, they always fit perfect...

I love theses! Keens, as always, are comfortable immediately, little "breaking in" to do. Mid ankle hits a little awkward for me, so if you are prone to blisters or sensitive to pressure points, may consider low cut or a higher rise. They tend to be a little warm for hot weather, but nothing unbearable. I walked through a creek (in 40 degree weather, covered them with plastic bags, which lasted about half the distance!) and even though they got wet, they seems to dry fast, and it wasn't noticeable the rest of the day.

Buy these boots. Period. I was in need of a good hiker and bought these boots after hearing great things about Keen. These boots turned out to be more than I ever expected. They were perfect for a hike in the Pennsylvania ridges in 45 degree weather - and they have turned out to be vital to me in the crazy snow we've had in NJ this winter. They're light, water resistant, and even in all the freezing weather, snow shoveling, slush, ice, etc, they've kept my feet perfectly warm. I've been choosing these over my awesome Sorels lately and, even plowing through a foot of snow, they never get soggy. I almost can't believe how good they are! Well worth the money. Best shoe purchase I've made in years. The only complaint - and it's a minor one - is they're a bit weird-looking. But...who cares!? Otherwise they're perfect!

I love these boots for everything except snow and ice. I find them to be extremely slippery on slushy or snowy sidewalks. They are definitely waterproof and they're great in the mud or puddles. That said, if you're hiking through tall, dewy grass, don't blame the boots if your socks wick water from your wet pants. I learned that the hard way. I've worn the same pair for over a year and they are just as comfortable and functional as when I purchased them. The only thing that hasn't lasted are the laces. I need to order a new pair from the Keen site.

I needed a shoe to walk my dog each day on icy sidewalks. Super comfortable and warm in single digit weather! No sliding around. Usually a 9.5. The 10 is perfect.

This is my second pair, love these boots. Waterproof, warm, excellent tread. Only replaced because I had worn tread down but it took a few years. Uppers still look brand new. Definitely run half size small in my opinion.

Keen's always have a wide fit on me - which leaves room for heavy socks. These are just right for tromping around in the snow. They have good traction for winter walking.

I love this boot! It felt great right out of the box and continues to do so. It is not my favorite boot for the snow, though. With the sub zero temps here, the can feel a little cold but for normal hiking and around town they are great.

After reading all 448 reviews, I thought this boot was too good to be true. I am ECSTATIC to report that everything I read was true! I have high arches, weak skinny ankles, horrible arthritis in both big toes, and these boots were actually comfortable right out of the box! I have tried 100's of boots on over the years and finally succumbed to the fact that my goal was to find the "least" most uncomfortable boot... what a wonderful surprise!

Best snow boots ever! These are great winter boots. They keep my feet warm and dry while walking the dog, shoveling the snow, etc. I can stay active without the heaviness of regular snow boots. The added bonus is that they are just as comfy as my sneakers. Order a half size larger as recommended by others.
