Customer Reviews Birkenstock Milano - Soft Footbed (Unisex)

So far, so good... I recently had bunion surgery on my feet and my podiatrist recommended that I get a new pair of Birkenstocks for my first shoe out of the post surgical boots. I decided to try the soft foot bed so that I wouldn't have the break-in that the regular Birks require. They are comfy right out of the box and are providing excellent support for my "new" feet. I might have to get another pair in a more closed style for winter. They are not the best looking shoe I've ever worn but they are functional and it’s a nice rich neutral color.

Learning to wear the Milano Soft Footbed - After reading (from another site) that the Birkenstock sandal was designed to be loosely worn, I re-adjusted my straps, allowing more freedom of movement and have had excellent results. As a result, it does allow the foot to naturally function while walking! So, don't tighten those straps too much.

The perfect sandal - Having problem feet, I have searched high & low for a sandal or shoe that is completely comfortable. This is it. No need for my orthotics -- this sandal is perfect without them. I hope that Birkenstock starts making some closed shoes with the soft foot bed by the time winter rolls around again.

New Birk Fan - This is my first pair of Birks and they are growing on me. The first two times I wore them, I was not sure I was going to like them at all. My arch has fallen over the years and the excellent arch support given by these sandals actually hurt. I didn't wear them for too long at a time and I noticed that the discomfort was not lasting very long. Now they feel like slippers and I have noticed that I can walk the entire day without any discomfort in these sandals.

Comfortable - A true fit to size with additional comfort from the soft foot bed.

Comfortable sandals - This is a nice sandal for summer. It's comfortable for walking.

Foot loving shoes - From the moment I put these on my feet, they felt great. I need good arch support and a narrow fit. These fit the bill. I really like them, and would buy them again.

Great comfort! This is the best sandal I've ever owned. Very comfortable and looks great, too.

Quality shoes - I have unique feet. I wear two sizes due to polio. Thanks for offering the 5 - 5.5. I have really enjoyed Birkenstock (Tatami) in the past. That style is not available to my knowledge anymore. Regarding the 7-7.5: the Milano cradle at the end of the shoe did not cradle my second & third toes. If the shoe had been flat at the end the toes would have rested fine. Also, the tab under the buckle hurt... too thick.

Once again, Birkenstock and Zappos did not disappoint - The Milano Soft Footbed were the first pair of Birkenstock's that I purchased with the back strap and they were just as comfortable, if not more than the one's without the back strap. No break-in time was required, and I have a bunion. The adjustable straps and the soft footbed make it seem as if you are not wearing anything at all. And, thank you Zappos for continuing to give the best service ever!

My FIRST pair of Birks EVER - I was just diagnosed with planter's fasciitis along with heel spur -- and the podiatrist's recommendation -- Birkenstock Milano's! These Birks, along with my stretches, yoga, and occasional ice, have almost eliminated the problem in the past month! A lot cheaper than surgery!!!!!

Birkenstock Milanos are like old friends - I wore Milanos back in the '60's. It was delightful to find a soft footbed version for my old feet. They are kind to my knees also. These are just great Birkenstocks for those wanting a heel strap.

Nice shoes - I haven't worn Birks for awhile, but when I put on this pair my feet where immediately comfortable. My feet are sensitive and hurt if I don't wear good shoes. Birkenstocks have never let me or my feet down. I'm moving to a city with excellent public transportation and downtown shopping. I wanted a comfortable shoe for shopping and walking to and from the bus stop. These shoes will fit the bill. As for looks, these are Birkenstocks. They're in a fashion class by themselves when you get right down to it. Which is cool.

Great Birks- This is my 3rd pair of Birkenstocks, although the first with the new soft footbed. I've got to tell you they are the most comfortable I've ever owned. Barely even needed to break them in either. Highly recommended.

After purchasing a model with no backstrap, the shoe kept sliding off when I walked. The Milano solved that problem. When the Milano came, the box was marked M for medium I believe. However, I ordered a narrow. The shoe, however, felt narrow. After calling Zappos, the were great and said they would immediately send out a narrow. However, when I received the new one, it too was marked "M" not N. I still don't know if I got a narrow or not but I kept the show as it fit well enough.

Very comfortable sandal - The first Birkenstock soft footbed sandal Zappos shipped to me was defective--it was the same footbed as the regular, non-soft footbed. But after calling Zappos and explaining the problem, a new pair arrived the next day. Excellent service! These are very comfortable sandals, as are the regular footbed ones. Most important, make sure it is the right size. If your foot is medium width USA, make sure you get the Birkenstock narrow.

Birkenstock Milano Soft Footbed - Same great construction as the original. Looks and quality are also good. Only difference is the soft footbed liner. Personally, it feels good but I think I would still prefer the original. Either way, just a great sandal.

Birkenstock Milano - I've owned these shoes for 10 years. At first, they were my favorite "comfort" shoe. Now that Birkenstock has more styles, it has gone down on my list. With the back strap, it's difficult to remove the sandal if a pebble gets under my foot. I prefer the Birks that don't have a back.

They are going back - The first thing is that they are too big. I didn't believe the size chart because it is way off what I lived for 10 years in Germany. I ordered a 43 which I might not even fit into if one could find it...This one was way too big. Secondly. I ordered a back strap style because I am having trouble keeping my shoes on my feet with my loss of sensation due to neuropathy, but these are just too ugly for me. I saw several more styles on the box these came in that are feminine and pretty but they don't seem to be on the website. I only hope they offer the softbed when the new styles come out.

Good all purpose sandal - Overall I really like this sandal. The only real complaint I have is that after wearing them a while the straps tend to make the tops of my feet tender, almost bruised feeling.

Narrow Cocoa Nubuck Soft Footbed Milano - Leather is a little cardboard like at first, but once you wear these a while it will loosen up. They sound like you're walking in cardboard at first too. I don't like the fact the backstrap gets loose to the point it slips down off your heel after wearing these a while, even after making the backstrap more snug, it does the same thing. I ordered these because I can't seem to keep open heeled sandals on my feet very well. I have to say, I do like the look and feel of the Milanos. The narrow version is perfect for small or smaller-medium build guys.

Disappointed - What a disappointment. I read all the reviews and thought these would be supportive, comfortable, and have a "soft footbed"--but NOT. The straps are stiff and uncomfortable, and the footbed is stiff and unyielding, and anything but soft. They would take weeks of breaking in. The size was not right, according to the scale, but the problems I experienced had nothing to do with them being too large. Returning!

What’s so great about Birkenstock's? I found these sandals to only meet one requirement and that is that they are plenty wide enough. However, the fit of the sole hurts both my feet. My left foot has plantar fascia and the right has a stress fracture on the top of the foot. I was seeking a sandal which would cradle my feet but find the Birkenstock to be too molded with it's toe impressions and the football hump. My feet were so sore after wearing these sandals (after a break-in period of one week around the house) that I feel like returning them for a refund.
