Best running shoe overall - I have been in the military for 7 years and have always experienced severe leg pain with all the training and running performed almost 4-5 days a week. I have owned the older model for almost 5 months and just bought this pair and ever since then, my running/ endurance has improved due to no more leg pain. I highly recommend these shoes if you need a stability/ comfort shoe. It lets you focus on your workouts and not on pain.

Women's New Balance 992 - Overall, I have been completely satisfied with this shoe for the last 25 years. The pair I received recently though does not seem to fit as snug as my previous tennis shoes. Also,as far as looks, I would like the women's shoe to offer some other colors such as a pretty blue or even pink. The white gets dirty too easily and gets dingy after washing them. I would recommend the shoe to anyone who wants a comfortable and long lasting tennis shoe.

These are almost like the 991, except a bit heavier with a slightly thicker sole. They still have great motion stability and are very comfortable for the avid runner.

Smart looking shoe! I'm a New Balance fan, but this was the first NB sneaker I had to return to Zappos. I never had so much heel slippage before in a NB sneaker, and unfortunately I had to return these. I was impressed by everything else including the stability around the ankle. This is an attractive looking sneaker and it doesn't make your feet look huge. If only there had been additional material in the heel like the NB 840 series and NB 926 sneakers, then I would have kept them. Thank you Zappos for making returns so easy.

One of the Better New Balance Shoes - This is one of the better shoes that New Balance has produced in a few years! Just about the only change that I would want to make is to the variety of color combinations available. The overall comfort of this model is to be compared to going barefoot, if only I could! The durability is fantastic, in that you don't realize that the shoe is worn down until you finally examine the shoes.

Great service - I like the New Balance W992, but it is not as comfortable as New Balance shoes I've worn in the past that have been discontinued. Why does New Balance do this? As always the service from Zappos was wonderful!

A very comfortable shoe. Slightly different than my old 992's being a little less cushioned. Delivered promptly after an exchange. Zappos is a great place to buy shoes and what is said by reviewers certainly is correct.

New Balance W992 - I was somewhat unhappy with the fit overall. One foot kept slipping out of the shoe the first time I wore the shoe on my daily walk and the beginnings of a blister became apparent. I assume this is because it felt wider in the heel than normal. I've never had this problem with any other shoe before. Other than that, the shoe had an updated style, it looked good on the foot, and felt very lightweight as I walked. Zappos service was awesome-the shoes came two days after I ordered it. Arch support was negligible

A massage for your feet - As soon as I put these sneaks on, my feet said "ahhh." After years of wearing Adidas sneakers I'm a NB convert and will never go back! I especially like the retro 992s -- they are extremely comfortable, definitely helping me get back into the running mode, and they look fine even with jeans when I run errands. The only drawback so far is that I think I've been so used to wearing sandals and dress shoes instead of sneakers that I felt like they made my feet look big, but that sense went away after I wore them around for awhile.

I like this shoe! I have a big problem finding shoes that fit and are comfortable to work in for the day. These shoes make my bad leg & foot feel good, but somehow, my good foot starts hurting on the ball of my foot after a couple hours. I'm hoping this gets better with time. It feels so good to have my bad leg & foot not hurt that I'm willing to give it some time to hopefully get better.

NB USA - Bought for aerobics and kickboxing; fit true to size, enough cushioning and support but a little heavy; seem well made; not very exciting but serviceable; a little pricey but I wanted to buy American.

Medical reasons for buying New Balance - Because I have arthritis and an Achilles tendon problem that cannot be repaired, I need an athletic shoe that protects my feet while allowing me to be athletic. This is my third pair of NB, a 991 that I purchased at a NB shoe retail store and two 992 I purchased at Zappos. To accommodate arthritis symptoms, my last NB was wider (D, not usual B) than the others. It is my least favorite. I needed width but the shoe feels too loose in spots (heel). Still, it protects my feet which is its job and I would buy another pair.

It’s a good sneaker with a good fit - The sneaker is very comfortable and accurately sized. I had the previous 991 which I felt was even more comfortable, but the 992 has a good fit.

Good looking every day sneaker - A good looking shoe. It comes in narrow and fits true to size. I was really disappointed in the arch, though, and wound up buying inserts. The insoles are cheaply made for such an expensive shoe. They're better for walking around town than for running or hiking.

I Love this shoe - I love the look and the tremendous support. Please don't change it.

Know your Size and Fit - I ordered these shoes and had them shipped to my wife. As usual Zappos sent them lightning quick. My wife had previously told me that she had tried on a pair of 'similar' New Balance shoes and gave me the size and specs to order. I did. She said they were a little loose. She wanted to return them, and again, Zappos was nothing but accommodating. However, my wife kept using them for the time being. Now, after passing her Army Advanced Individual Physical Fitness Assesment test in them, I don't think she is going to let them go. So, Lesson learned Know your exact size (width, etc.) and fit of the shoe you buy.

Heel too wide :( Loved this athletic shoe. Very comfortable...and the wide width was perfect...the only downer was that the heel was big and slipped a lot. Sorry, I had to sent them back.

Very comfortable shoe with only one problem: the arch support is not in place, it is too close to the heel. Luckily, I use orthotics so this "glitch" does not apply to me.

Repeat customer - After being led to this shoe two years ago in a sport shoe store, and then buying three pair in the next year, I found them at Zappos! I wear out a pair every five months and this shoe is the only one that requires ZERO break in time. Zappos delivers to my door as I'm forty miles from a shoe store. I'll repeat again and again.

Wear on vacation only. I think this is a great vacation shoe, very comfortable and best worn amongst strangers since they are not cute. Made my feet look long. Made a sole to sole comparison with my Brooks Addiction, i.e. same size and they were longer. Petite ladies go for it, everyone else hope for the best or don't look down much.

Review of New Balance Style #992 - I was looking for a comfortable, well cushioned sneaker, with good support to wear everyday. The New Balance #992 is a light-weight sneaker, which I wear when I am running around doing my daily errands. I do not jog, so I cannot review the New Balance #992 as a running shoe. I like the comfort of this sneaker and ordered two pair: one in cool gray and one in white. I always order New Balance sneakers a half size larger than my shoe size for a more comfortable fit.

Comfy but not a Running Shoe - I run about 4-5 miles 4 to 5 days a week and I love the shoe for casual wear but it is NOT a running shoes. I felt like I was running on the ground barefoot. They are good looking and comfortable shoes otherwise.

Feels RIght, Goes with Everything - These shoes are soft, comfortable and excellent for wide feet and flatfooted people.

I expected more - These shoes are very good for people who have problems with their feet (as I do), but they feel and look "big" because of the width of the shoe. They are not as cushioned as I expected, although I must admit when I wear them to the gym, they do support my feet. Because of the bulkiness, I prefer not to wear them out with a cute casual outfit.
