I'm adding my voice to the chorus singing the praises of this shoe. Especially if you have foot problems, Birks are great, with the only problems I've experienced related to some difficulty keeping them on (as with all clogs) and the hardness of the cork-only footbed. Well, the Soft Footbed is a vast improvement over the old style, and that's the main thing I want to comment on in this review. The Soft Footbed still has the traditional shape with the heel cup, toe bar, and arch support, but it's much gentler on your feet. I have very flexible, bony feet (a problem which gets worse as you get older) and have had foot surgery on both feet, and a little padding in my shoes makes a huge difference. I still wear the old style footbed, but this soft one is so much more welcoming when you slip into it. If you're trying to decide whether to stick with the tried-and-true old style or try out the new softie, please do try the softer ones: same price, much better comfort, and hey, Zappos will let you return them if you don't like them. Order both and compare. I think I know which one you'll be returning. Oh, and another thing: with my very flat, slender feet, the adjustable strap and the narrow width, plus dropping down from 40 to 39, makes a perfect fit for me. Since most so-called "adjustable" straps really aren't, this is a rare advantage for the Birk Bostons.

Present for my wife. This shoe is by far her choice for all occasions. This is the third pair, wears them until there is not much left (excellent wear).

I have seen these shoes for decades and wondered if they're as great as their aficionados claim. I had a pair of Birks fisherman sandals years ago, but found the footbed fatiguing for serious walking. This softer one conformed quickly and feels more forgiving. While they aren't serious walking shoes, they are very comfortable, and I haven't wanted to take them off. I particularly love traveling (which I do a lot) with them, I love that they are equally comfortable with socks and bare feet, and I think they look cute with either long pants or cropped. I normally wear an 8 1/2 and consulted with the company to be sure about the size. Definitely order a narrow unless you have very wide feet. As for length, a 39 which I tried on in a store was much too big; the 38 which I ordered is just barely the right size. My heel sits in the cup, but with no length to spare, so I don't wear thick socks with them. However, the company told me it's fine as long as my heel doesn't strike the edge. My toes are also at the end of the front with no extra space, but because the toe box is so wide, the suede so slipper-soft, and my foot hits all the right supports in the footbed, they feel great.

Duck feet, but comfortable - I bought this shoe to help with my foot condition called Morton's Neuroma, and as far as that's concerned, it helps a lot! Plus I also have heel spurs too, and it helps with that also, but they are not cute or attractive in the least. But when you have as many problems as I do I’ve learned not to be picky. Birkenstocks do take some getting used to. There is a breaking in period, and you can develop blisters from that, but after they feel great and really support my feet like no other show can. Nice - These shoes are awesome. I highly recommend the soft beds over the normal ones. The narrow width fits me great! I like to wear these shoes with jeans with or without socks.

They are sooooo comfortable! This is the first Birkenstock I have bought with the soft bed. OH MY GOSH!!!! They are sooooo comfortable barefoot or with socks!!! They not only feel great, they LOOK great too! I sprayed them with a Scotchguard kind of protection and I expect to wear and enjoy them for a very long time to come!!!! Now I want another pair in a different color!!!! The trick is knowing your correct size. They tend to run large.

Birkenstock Boston Soft Footbed - I have chronic Achilles tendon pain, and cannot wear shoes with a heel. These clogs are great! They are very comfortable, and with slacks, look almost like "real" shoes. The soft footbed is very comfortable, and this shoe is wide enough for my size C width feet. I would like to be able to purchase the same shoe in a smooth leather.
