Inconsistent sizing! I've worn Birks sandals for years. In shopping for a shoe, I was advised to size up and go with a narrow so, I did. Even in doing this, the shoe was too short. Surprisingly, when I tried the same size on in a retail store, it fit. They didn't have the color I wanted so I turned to Zappos. Going up an additional size only provided a shoe that fell off of my foot. I've never had a problem with a Birk sandal...Buyer beware.

This shoe is the best thing that ever happened for my feet. I'm supposed to wear orthodics, but since they never seem to fit in any decent shoes correctly, these clogs are perfect for arch support, comfort and warmth. I normally wear a 9.5, but found I needed size 41 with these.

The Boston is an exquisite shoe. I have the traditional insole and can't even imagine how insanely comfortable the "soft" footbed must be. I have owned the Boston in brown leather, yellow suede, gray suede, and, now, black suede. The shoe is also useful to stump arrogant tour guides: Eytan in Israel couldn't believe how I could crook my knee back ninety degrees and the clog wouldn't fall of my foot. "No," I said, "I didn't clench my toes, it just stays." The secret is as follows: you will notice your foot widens just behind the toes and then narrows again. The clog is so ingeniously engineered, so expertly conformant to the anatomically perfect bare foot, that the leather/suede stretches just enough to admit this slight widening and then snap back behind it. Therefore, the clog stays firmly in place if you hang it from your perpendicularly cocked knee. Eytan never did figure it out, so I wore my Birkenstock Ramses thong sandals the next day (the day included a beach visit, anyway) so there wouldn't be any foot-related surprises. Where was I? Oh, yeah. Rush to buy the Boston clog. It is supremely comfortable and looks outstanding. It goes with anything short of ultra-formal: I've worn them on interviews with a nice sweater and nice jeans (for good professional jobs, like $125Kish) and been hired repeatedly. I note "true to size" although the size varies: I wear 45N in Birk shoes but 44R in Birk sandals. Go figure!

I needed a pair of house shoes (never to be worn outdoors) and I needed something excessively comfortable but supportive. I was apprehensive about how much to spend, but now that I have these shoes, I can't wait to get home and put them on. I am so tempted to wear them every where, but our new rule is no outdoor shoes worn in the house. I do wish the soft leather top wouldn't get in my way when slipping on the shoes, but then it couldn't be as soft so that's not an issue for me. I may have to get another pair to wear outside!

Shoes are very comfortable. I wear a 7M in US, in Birkenstock I wear a 6-6.5.

The Birkenstock Boston soft footbed is very comfortable. I own a lot of Birkenstocks and the suede shoes are the most comfortable. No break in period. I do spray them with weather protectant.

Excellent shoe, and well worth the price! I was looking for a comfy clog style shoe for the fall/winter, and these are perfect. They're warm, soft, and cozy. They fit pretty true to size and width. I am usually a euro size 40, US 9-10 and these were perfect. I love the red too. Not too loud, but they make just enough statement. Great shoe for busy moms on the go still looking to maintain a little more style than sneakers. Delivered the next day with standard shipping in true Zappos style! Thanks. So in love with this shoe!

A very comfortable sandal. I use these at home as I am standing most of the time and running up and down stairs. My feet don't feel tired at the end of the day. The arch support is fantastic. The blue looks funky with most of the things I wear.

I hand't owned Birkenstock's in many years, but bought these because I've been having trouble with my feet (heel pain). I got the narrow version, as I remember Birkenstock's being pretty wide, and I'm so happy with them! I use them around the house as slippers and they're great - just enough cushioning in the heel - cute in the red suede, too.

Tried Birks back in the 70s and hated them. Never felt comfortable. Have been a Mephisto devotee for ages. (I wear my Mephisto Helen sandals in tan leather around 300 days of the year on average.) But Mephisto doesn't make a cork soled clog like this which I've wanted for the colder months. So I finally tried the Birkenstock Boston with the soft footbed and the narrow width. Yum! I finally get why people are so into these. I still prefer the slightly raised heel on the Mephisto footbed for back and leg comfort, I assume it will take me awhile to get used to the lowered heel. But this footbed in the narrower profile in Birkenstocks is finally the right width for my rather wide feet (although I wear a normal width in all other shoes). Also the padding in the new soft footbed makes a huge difference. Just cushy enough so I don't want to take them off right out of the box. I normally wear a size 8 in almost all other shoes and a 38 in Mephisto and the 38 narrow in these are perfect. These are just what I want. Can wear with and without socks. By the way, I phoned to inquire about sizing from a comfort specialist - and got great advice about what to buy - even with a regular to widish foot - said the rep. I ought to go for the narrow width and I'm so glad I did! I ordered the mocha which I was hoping was a bit grey like the photo but which is, in person, quite a chocolate brown. Good enough. May go for a taupe pair next time if I end up liking the lower heel cup. So far so great! Worth a try even if you've hated Birkenstocks.

Felt 1/2 to 1 size smaller. I have 3 pair of sandals in 38, but my toes hit the front of the clogs. I will be returning them for a 39. By the way, my normal size is a 9.

I suffer from neuropathy in my feet and these are the most comfortable shoes. I can wear them all day. They only get better with time.

I have owned two other Birkenstock Bostons with the regular footbed. However, my feet always hurt as if I was standing on rocks if I was still for too long with my other two. Upon reading about the Soft Footbed, I was excited at the prospect of the shoe I love, but without pain. I was greatly rewarded. These are like Birkenstocks crossed with running shoes. I love the padding and go on daily mile walks in them with no soreness whatsoever. I just bought more because I love them so much. Also, the customer service is the best I have ever seen in any store - real or online! I will recommend these shoes and Zappos to anyone who will listen!

These are still around after all those years for a reason! They're comfy and your feet and legs will thank you. I recently had double foot surgery and cannot imagine life without these wonderful shoes! I have Fred Flintstone feet and these are roomy enough to wiggle your toes. Wear thick socks if they're too wide for you. Either way, they are super comfortable, and I am personally ridding myself of other shoes that are so-so to make room for more Birkenstock shoes. Buy 'em!

The soft footbed is not exactly soft compared with an old pair of the regular footbed Birkenstock shoes I have. I have wide feet and ordered the regular width, but if I wear these with (thin) socks they are just a tad too narrow. They also run large (long). I normally wear a 10 wide but was able to get the equivalent of an American 8.5.

I wore Birkenstocks in the 80s, but they stopped being comfortable for me. After I broke my leg several months ago, I was trying to find a shoe I could adjust to accommodate the swelling and slip out of easily. The Boston style accommodates socks very well without having to order up a size, and is great for cooler weather. It was also extremely comfortable right out of the box, with only a small fraction of the break-in required for the traditional footbed kind. They aren't the most attractive clog, but I think they are the most comfortable I've ever worn. I thought I'd stop wearing them after my break healed, but I wear them whenever I can.

These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I did need few days to break them in, but nothing like the regular bed ones. I usually wear size 7.5-8 in regular shoes, so I first tried size 38 here since I have several other pairs of shoes in European sizes and they are all 38s. These were a tad too small so I exchanged them for 39, now they fit perfectly. I got pretty narrow feet and even the narrow shoe was a little loose, but not enough to bother me. I got them in taupe since that was pretty much the only color available in this size when I ordered and didn’t want to wait. I just love them!!! As always, I was amazed with the Zappos service. I ordered them on a Thursday night and got them the next day by noon.

I really love the Birkenstock soft footbed. I originally did not own Birks because of the hard footbed, but love these. I plan to get another pair in another color.

O.K. My podiatrist suggested that I try a Birkenstock clog-style shoe as a "slipper" in the house for my horse-stepped-on-it foot. I have had on and off pain for several months and it has been getting worse. While I wait for the new shoe insoles to be made, I went to my tried & true Zappos pals to see what was available...these came up and the soft footbed had me hooked. TERRIFIC! is all i can say. My wide feet love the toe bed (I normally wear a 8W these are euro 39), length is perfect, and my crushed joints of the big toe love the soft support, and the pain is receding. Not fashionable, but really have been helpful. If we did not have snow on the ground, I would wear them all day! Zappos comes through again!

These are really great shoes. They are super comfortable and I love the way they look. I ordered them in Narrow because they run on the wider side, and they fit great. I placed my order in the evening, Zappos bumped up my shipping priority status, and they were at my door by the next afternoon. I couldn’t be happier with the product or the website service!

for those who have a narrow foot, it is often hard to find a shoe that will fit. this birkenstock solves the problem. the shoebed cradles the foot and allows weight to transfer evenly for total support while walking. the straps allow for a custom fit. birkenstocks rock!

I wear them every day. They are comfortable all day long. I got them to wear around the house because the hard wood floors were bothering my feet, and I needed something with more support than slippers or house shoes. The soft footbed is great. It’s definitely softer than the regular footbed, but not spongy like a foam insert. It offers the same arch support and toe grips as the regular footbed. I had to order a size larger than my Birkenstock sandals, but the fit seems true to the size chart.

Great shoe. I use it as more of a slipper. I used to wear Birkenstocks a lot, but started to feel that they were too hard. The soft footbed solves this problem. I was surprised I was a narrow. I tried the regular width, but it was too wide. Great arch support, too.
