3.5 stars really - As others have noted, they feel light as air to wear, but have surprisingly good stability and support. However, the light feel is deceptive in that they don't breathe: my feet get quite hot in these shoes after several hours. But overall, they work for what I wanted. I have plantar fasciitis and wanted shoes for those occassions when I need to slip in and out relatively fast, but I can't live without good support and stability. These have better support and stability than any slip-ons that I have yet to find. The look is OK. What can you do with Velcro? Not really a look I buy for fashion, but for function. And they are functional.

NB MW811 walker very good, but toe still could be roomier - The MW811 walker has a rounder toe than the MW574, giving an impression that it would be roomier in the toes. However, I cannot discern any more toe room, and my toes are very sensitive to pressure or chafing. The MW811 does seem to be a little longer lengthwise than the MW574, helping my toes with some marginal space in front of them. There is more material in the shoe saddle so my wide foot can be strapped-in without exposed velcro (exposed velcro shreds pants cuffs). The soles are just as comfortable as the MW574, and I can stand and walk for just as long a time period (historically a strong point in NB walkers). As far as toe comfort, I guess that I can wet the shoes for a couple of break-in sessions (an advantage of soft leather uppers). I remember the broad-toed natural shoes that were popular in the 1970s and earl 1980s -- wish NB would do something along those lines.

Man-made fabric - I liked these shoes, very comfortable, but after wearing them for an hour in the house my feet were hot. If you don't mind the man-made fabric then I recommend these shoes for the comfort.

Look bad, feel good. Most colors other than black would be an improvement. I am glad someone, New Balance, in this case, makes large and narrow sport shoes. I need a 15AAA shoe. This is a 15B or 15 Medium, the narrowest sport shoe I could find. The length is great. With enough sweat socks I can take up the space. It is comfortable.

Desperate to find very narrow widths!! No store within 100 miles of our town stocks narrow width shoes. Now I have found Zappos and with just a couple clicks of the computer can get my husband comfortable, resonably priced.

comfort and balance - I like the balance of the shoe and the velcro clousure. A good buy.

New Balance - comfortable and well-made - Being a quadraplegic, I have problems with swelling and thus most medium width shoes are very uncomfortable. These are the only shoes I have been able to locate with a 4E width. I am very pleased both with the look and feel of these shoes. The only "problem" I have had is that by the end of the day my feet have swollen enough to make them somewhat tight.

Excellant value, very comfortable - Not a fashion statement but a very comfortable shoe. Somewhat smaller cut, suggest consider order 1/2 or even 1 full size larger (length). Zappos has a great return policy, the best I've found on the Web for any product.

Nice sneak - Sneakers have always been to narrow. Finally a pair I can wear all day. Have to be careful about not pulling Velcro too tight.

Aching Feet - I am very happy with my purchase and the comfort. This is my first purchase of a Hook 'N' Loop shoe and wish I had tried them a long time ago. I hate shoelaces and usually leave them tied, and slip in and out of them, these fit just like a loafer if you want. I need an orthotic and the shoe accepts them with no problem and with added comfort. The only problem I can see with the shoe, aside from the cat not having laces to chew on, is they squeak. The first pair right out of the box, which all the credit to Zappos were replaced IMMEDIATELY. The second pair after wearing them for several days, not Zappos’ problem, but I do intend to contact NB and register a complaint. I do not intend to seek to replace these, they are comfortable, the fit is great, and they look good. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase them again.

Ugly shoe, but I need it for work. I’m 6ft and wear a 10.5 shoe, this on the other hand is about 1 inch too big, I ordered 10.5. The velcro will not hold my feet in and my heels slip out every time I step. I’ve never been disappointed with new balance, until now.

New Balance 811 - I need the hook & loop as I have only the use of one arm/hand. This allows me to "tie" my shoes myself. I have a narrow, low volume foot and use orthotics, and find the shoe a little loose. It seems to be cut for a high instep. In spite of the loose fit, I seem to get good support on long walks.

Disappointing ...for New Balance - Have worn the predecessor to this shoe....805 all leather...the 811 is plastic! The tongue slips around too much in the 811....should be sewn in place. The shoe is so-so comfortable, but I don't believe it is a good value compared to previous New Balance quality.

Not a 547. This shoe is definitely not the New Balance 547. I was have trouble with the shoe sliding up and down on my heel and found upon examination that the heel is straight up and down. There is no curvature in the back in the heel to keep it from sliding up and down with each step. The shoes both squeak. When I measured my size 11 in the 811 against my size 11 in the 547 I found it to be shorter. I think the MW547V to be the very best shoe I have ever used and only tried the 811 because the 547 was out of stock. I have since bought another pair of 547 and I guess I'll use the 811s for painting or slippers around the house. If I hadn't worn them I would have returned them.

Good shoe, but it is "narrow" but not narrow enough. I would send them back, but I have worn them... How do you know whether a shoe fits unless you wear it?

It's OK - The shoe size runs very big. Laces are better than velcro for big shoes. They make noise when I walk. By themselves, they look good. They serve OK as an office shoe, but they are nothing special.

Zappos delivers efficiently - I have worn new balance 805's for years. I couldn't find them anymore. The NB 811's are just as comfortable as the 805's. These shoes could not be any more comfortable. If NB doesn't quit making them, I will continue to buy this shoe. Zappos could not possibly be any more efficient in filling my orders. The sales clerks are very helpful and cooperative and the only way the delivery could be any better would be for me to be in the store at the time of purchase. "At Last" Great shoes,just what I was looking for.Didn't even know I had them on!!!Plan on purchasing the same model in black.

I received my order yesterday and tried them on. They are very light and flimsy-feeling. There is no, I mean zero, nada, arch support. Someone with flat feet might be okay with this shoe, but I don't have flat feet. Not anything like what I expected in a shoe at this price! This has the look and feel of a Wal Mart shoe. Not very happy. I might see if I can exchange them for a black pair of Nike that has arch support.

I am so sorry I bought this shoe. I tried to save a few bucks over the Brooks and paid the price! The shoes have an awful squeak when I walk on both shoes in the heel area. The squeak has gotten louder. I am on Zappos today to buy the Brooks that I should have gotten first.
