After reading reviews, I was prepared for heavy and big, which did not concern me, as I like boots and mules. I opted for "true size," as I have a wide big toe area. Unfortunately, the shoe, though big, would not work for me -- not even in the right size. It put a lot of stress on the front of my foot, so there was no sense in going down a 1/2 size. In fact, the only thing that felt good about them was taking them off. I was disappointed, because it is great looking. For this kind of money, I need comfort and looks, and had to bail on the idea. Fabulous Zappos service will keep me coming back, though -- it's a day later and I already have another shoe I like!

I was totally smitten with the look and style of these shoes. Unfortunately, they didn\'t work for me. I usually wear a 9, these felt a full size larger. I returned them for an 8. I thought there would be more support in the back of the shoe. They really are designed as a mule, and I found I needed to grip my toes in order for them to stay on. I usually have no trouble wearing a medium width, but these were tight across my toes. They are also heavy. So good looking, so uncomfortable.

Frye Harness Mule - These are nice for when you want a Cowgirl look without the traditional boot. They look great with jeans. My only complaint is that they feel narrow in the toe box. I wore them to an outdoor party for a night and had to put band-aids on after a few hours because they rubbed my big and little toes. I’m hoping they stretch out a bit. My feet are not particularly wide. I never order wide shoes. If you have a narrow foot, these will work for you.

Not as cute on as I thought they'd be - First off, I took advice from some others and got a size one half size smaller than I normally wear. With the smaller size, the rigid arch support was in the wrong place on my foot. The other issue I had was the color. I chose the Sand Antique but it looks more like greenish brown. Perfect if you want to look authentic western, as in kicking around on a horse farm - if you know what I mean. The quality seems excellent - very sturdy and heavy clog.

Frye Harness Mule is good-looking but... Man, is it a heavy shoe! I will be returning it for this reason. It feels great when you slip your foot into it, but the weight of it makes it diffucult to walk around in. Too bad because it is sharp looking.

First I want to set the record straight about the color: the tan color shown online is much DARKER than the shoe is in real life. I prefer the darker color shown online, however the tan shoes I received are a lot lighter than the tan that is shown on the screen. Second this shoe fits wider than all of my other Frye boots. In fact one of the shoes I received actually gaped horribly around my ankle so much that I just ordered a second pair to compare it to so I can see if it's a defect in the design & make of the shoe itself, or if its the result of someone else trying the shoe on and forcing their too large foot into a too small for them shoe. I'll update my review based on my comparison.

It was a good looking shoe, but as I pulled it out of the box, it had a mark right on the top of one of the shoes that had a stain about the size of a penny and it looked like it had been rubbed as if someone had tried to remove it and ended up removing polish, it was obvious and looked really bad. I have worn a number of Frye boots and know that there is a breaking in period at least for me. These felt sloppy with a sock on, my guess is that someone wore these shoes and sent them back stained. There was no paper whatsoever with the shoes, from Frye or from Zappos. I sent them right back, of which there was no problem, even though I did not have a packing slip or return label or anything with the shoes. Disappointed that that the shoes were not looked over before being sent, obviously no one wants to pay over $200 for shoes that are worn and stained. This is just an employee's oversight and not necessarily a reflection on Zappos. Unfortunately I sent the shoes back and never bothered taking a pic.

Based on the all reviews I was expecting this to be the shoe I was always wishing for and I really wanted to love it, but they're such a letdown. The leather is gorgeous of course, and it's so thick like a belt, but there are so many layers around the opening to the shoe it's SO bulky. I wear bootleg or wideleg jeans, and the back of my jeans kept getting caught on this belted detailing. Yuck. While the inside might stretch out fine - good leather totally will do - the opening to the shoe was gaping already, esp when I walked. They just look terrible. (I wear a 10/10.5 and I got an 11 since Frye's are so narrow.) I'll keep looking.

Frye boots were a must have back in the '70s. Unfortunately, not for me. Fifty-seven (57) years later I bought my first pair. What a big disappointment. These look awesome, but fit awful! I bought my size. The length is okay but, they turned out to be too wide. The 'lip' on the back of the heel is too low to keep my foot in and the leather strap around the heel is stretched out and hanging down over the heel...and I have only worn them once.

Too wide in the instep - I loved the look of this mule; however, it was impossible to walk in these. The forefoot was narrow like the harness boots, but the instep and heel were very wide, so I would walk right out of these. Bummer cause I liked the sand suede.

Could not be more pleased - Fantastic shoe. Love the look with jeans. They are exactly what I was looking for. Will most certainly get them in black.

Frye belted harness mules - I bought these shoes because they looked so cute, but beware they're too heavy.

These shoes are huge! They feel more like a 7 than the 5.5 I ordered. I'm so disappointed because they look fabulous and are well made but aren't made in any smaller size. Definitely consider ordering a size down - I am a 5.5 in other shoes including Ugg, Dansko, etc.

The shoes are so heavy, the leather is so stiff, it really runs narrow. Very uncomfortable to wear even tried on w heavy socks.
