I've worn Mephisto comfort sandals daily for over 10 years...always a size US 10/ EU 40. I buy a new pair every 2-3 years and WOW am I very disappointed that this company has changed it specs on sizing. The footbed at the heel is so narrow now that there is barely a noticeable heel cup and my heel falls off around all sides. Ditto for the length. The length is now 1/2" shorter on the size 10/EU40 and the heel cup (measuring at the widest point from the edge then down into the cup to the other edge) went from 3.5" to 3.25" in that size. Yet with such a big difference in sizing (I ordered 3 pairs of sandals this month from 3 different sources all in the size 10/EU40 and none of them fit) Mephisto is using the same size charts it did years ago. If you are accustomed to wearing this shoe, prepare yourself for a narrower heel cup and shorter footbed than what Mephisto's states in their size charts. I feel for all of you, like myself, that relied upon these shoes for years and now can no longer wear them or find a suitable alternative. I just ordered up one whole size to an 11. I hope these fit!!

After having extensive foot surgery, I thought these would be the perfect sandal. Unfortunately, it was not. It's great that the straps are adjustable but the straps themselves are very stiff and rough making them very uncomfortable. Was extremely disappointed.

I am very disappointed in these shoes. Everyone had been telling me Mephisto were the end all, be all of walking shoes and while the foot cushioning was comfortable (but a little wide for my narrow foot), the leather was very hard and rough and rubbed my foot. I had to send these back.

Too wide for my narrow foot, not enough holes in the straps for tightening the toe strap. The inside of the leather straps is scratchy with sharp edges, The foot bed is not flexible enough. These would take some serious breaking in. I wore them for five minutes and that was all I could take. I wore Mephisto years ago and was looking forward to wearing these, but the shoes are not as nice as they used to be with soft leathers and careful crafting for comfort. I'm so sad. Thanks Zappos for letting me try them on though.

Attractive and well-made shoe. High arch supports, unfortunately a little too high for me, especially on the left foot. Leather feels stiff; Perhaps would soften up with wear. Runs true to size, but not to width -- runs narrow.

I was really excited to try these based on all the good reviews, but unfortunately I found them very uncomfortable. They are so hard, it's like walking on rocks! The arch support area was particularly hard, to the point of being painful to walk in. One shoe was worse than the other, so maybe something was wrong with it? However, for this amount of money they should be perfect; they are going back. They do seem true to size; I would not order up. If anything, they seem kind of wide. I'm really unhappy with these shoes. While the footbed is comfortable, I can't get the straps adjusted right. One set of holes is too tight and the next is too loose. I bought these to replace a pair of Eccos with Velcro straps and I wish I had bought another pair with Velcro adjustments.

The black straps keep leaking dye onto my feet. It’s possible to wipe them off but extremely annoying. I also found the shoes very uncomfortable.

People love these shoes but I felt like I was walking on a plank. A soft plank, but a plank nonetheless. I returned them.

I LOVE Mephisto’s footbed and really wanted them to work, but unfortunately strap irritated bunion. Y problem, not the sandals’.

I wear these around the house and for quick errands. They're very comfortable, and the style is worth the extra cost. I like that they're adjustable, which means they fit over my bunions comfortably and hide the little &@#@s nicely.

O love these. This was to be my second pair (after using the others a good 10 years they needed resoling which costs $120 inc shipping and I didnt want to wait 6 weeks.) I decided on the gray ones same style instead.

I bought size 39 and it fits perfectly. Just adore the leather and color.

These sandals have the best platform for arch support and stability. They are about the only sandals I wear now.

I love the combination of comfort and a little glam on this Mephisto sandals. I have hard to fit feet and must good support in my shoes and Mephisto fits the bill.

Mephistopheles has a great name. I liked this shoe a lot - I just liked the Joseph Seibel better!

this is my third pair of Mephisto "H" sandals in the past year. For anyone who doesn't know, the style names that start with the same letter are cut/designed the same so they should all fit the same. I also have Hannah (which I totally love). For those who dislike toe-posts, I highly recommend these. I opened the box and walked 7 miles in these shoes with no thought of a blister. I ahve extremely flat feet and other issues ... the footbed in these are by far teh best I have ever found in my lifetime (like they were made of me personally) and, after time wearing them, the cork footbed does indeed mold to conform you your own foot. Beware, though, there is absolutely zero padding in Mephisto "H" sandals. No padding at all. After many miles, my feet are sore b/c of that but the perfect support is totally worth it.

This is my second pair of the Handel, my first having lasted way more than 10 years. For me that longevity makes them worth the price. Appreciate 2 adjustable straps and that 2nd strap really secures foot. Very comfortable, more so than Birkenstock as far as I am concerned

I loved the sandals and really wanted to keep them. However, I have an unusual right foot due to a childhood injury. I couldn't keep the right shoe on securely enough.
