Wow am I disappointed! I have another pair of this exact style, purchased several years ago in navy nubuck. They are my favorite shoes, so when I needed something a little more dressy, I chose this pair. They are simply not up to Mephisto quality. The cobra leather is thin, sags near the connection to the sole on one shoe, so it looks and feels like cheap material. They are my size, but I cannot get them tight enough over the instep because they stretched so quickly and the buckle won't go any tighter. So, these pricey shoes fit poorly despite the terrific footbed, etc. If I hadn't already worn them and poked new buckle holes in the straps trying to make them fit, I would try to return them. Be warned!

This shoe isn't nearly as comfortable on my foot as the Mephisto Helen. The dark brown scratch is somewhat scratchy against the top of my foot. The shoe doesn't stay on that well when I walk.

These sandals saved my feet while traveling in Italy this summer. My feet suffer from plantar fasciitis, so I was worried about how I would be able to handle walking all day without using my orthotics (which fit into closed shoes only, not an option for summer). I tried Birkenstocks in person and found that they do not work for plantar fasciitis because the heel is too low. I heard that the Mephistos with the "H" names have arch support suitable for those with plantar fasciitis. (Hannel, Henny, Hannah, Heidi, etc.) When these arrived, I compared them to my orthotics. The sandals provide a similar height of support in the same places that my orthotics do. Happily, I found that I could walk most of the day, with rest stops & icing, thanks to these sandals. When I returned home, my feet were none the worse for all of that walking. Another reviewer mentioned that the straps do stretch a bit with break-in, which happened with these also. I now fasten them one notch tighter. Zappos gets kudos for carrying them in small sizes and shipping them quickly!

I have 2 pairs of these in tan. They must be well broken in. This new pair, bothered my bunion. Sorry, but great service.

I'm normally a 39 in Birkenstocks and a 40 in Naots. The 39 in Mephistos fit perfectly. I'm an 8 1/2 in American sized shoes. The footbed is very comfortable and has excellent arch support. The top is the dull pewter color which is a wonderful neutral. Unlike Birks, the Mephistos have a much thicker rubber sole at the heel, so I hope that means they will not need resoling.

I have narrow feet and it's difficult to find shoes. It fits my foot like a glove. Wonderful arch support. Hard to buy any other shoe after wearing a Mephisto - which I have now done for years.

These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I really don't want to wear any other shoes at all. I have worn Birkenstock shoes for many years, and I intended to purchase another pair as mine are worn out, but took a chance on these instead. They are much more comfortable than Birkenstocks and look better too. They seem to be very well made, and I'm guessing they will last a good long time. I was just considering buying another pair, just in case something terrible happens and they stop making these.

This is my favorite shoe, but the advertised Euro 40 is not US woman's size 10 -- it's more like a size 9. When my shoes came and they were too small, I took them to a local store that sells Euro shoes and they measured them -- I should have gotten at least a 42! Now I have to go through the nuisance of returning them, although it's easy to do, and doesn't cost a thing -- nonetheless, I needed those shoes right away and now I have to wait another week or two.

These are attractive sandals that fit comfortably. I have multiple foot issues as well as concerns about balance. These have good arch support and support my foot well. I'm not sure I would call them gray although this is probably okay. I would call the color mushroom; it's very light.

I love my Hannels. Mine are several years old now, the tan-beige color have worn beautifully. The arches have molded to my feet like Birkenstocks. Mine were made in France (no known slave labor -- yay!); I wish Zappos would tell country of manufacture! Hannels are dressier than Birks, and higher. The only oddity is that they look like Cyclops when viewed from the top. I can wear these walking all day and be wonderfully comfy, even in hot, humid summer weather. And the tan suede has held up, even staying clean through a great deal of wear.

Although the color is a little off from the last pair I bought, it is still the best pair of sandals I have ever had. You can't go wrong with Mephisto, 5 stars for comfort!

This is a very comfortable sandal. I have a bunion so have to be careful but could walk in this all day without a problem. Just needed to tweak the straps a bit by tightening them to next hole.

Anything bought from Zappos is wonderful. I have never dealt with a company (online or in person at a retail store) that I find to be more customer service oriented. They're absolutely fabulous! I have been purchasing shoes and western boots from Zappos for about 2 years now and the experiences are great.

I love this sandal! I have tendonitis in my left foot. This is one of the few sandals that I can wear. It has great arch support and anti-stress foot bed. I normally wear a size 39 in European sizes, but in Mephisto, I wear a size 38. Use the size chart when ordering a pair of Mephisto shoes. It looks better on your foot than it does in the picture. I have a narrow foot, and another plus about this sandal is that it is adjustable. You can custom fit it to your foot. I highly recommend the shoe. In fact, I have been pleased with all the Mephisto shoes that I have purchased.

At last, a sandal that is both supportive and pretty. My feet are saying ahh as I wear them. Some break-in time needed, so I am wearing the straps buckled loosely until the stiff newness has eased.

This is my third pair of Mephisto sandals in this style. I love them. They mold to your feet, are extremely comfortable, and look great with just about anything. This is my latest acquisition and as long as they keep making this style, I'll keep adding them every summer to my collection.

Most comfortable sandals ever! Better than Birkenstocks with more cushion and arch support. Well worth the price tag.

This is my second pair of Mephisto Hannel. I bought brown last year and came back for black. The shoe is very comfortable and stylish. I have a narrow foot so this shoe works perfectly for me with the two adjustable straps. The leather is soft and comfortable. It does stretch a bit and I had an extra hole punched in my first pair which was no problem. That pair was my go to shoe last summer.

Darn it, I wish I could keep these! The footbed is a dream, so comfortable. I am an 8, ordered an 8 and they fit perfectly. But the straps which are supposed to be nubuck do not seem to be nubuck to me and they are really rough underneath. I loosened the straps to the point of them being way too wide but the strap was still so rough when walking that I am afraid it will cause a blister or sore spot at least.

I do NOT like this sandal........I like a lower heal and buckles with bling!! I actually have 3 pairs but they are looking old. Please please please bring back this style!!!

Beautiful shoe, but straps bothered my feet. They were not soft enough.

These are my go-to sandals for wide feet with high arches. They fit better than any other casual sandal I've worn.

This is my second pair of Mephisto Hannels. I live in them for much of the year. The first pair is still going strong, although getting a bit grubby, after three or four years. A good investment, although they do take a bit of work to break in and soften up.

Love them! I bought my first pair 6 years ago, wore them constantly and finally wore them out. I didn't even look for a different brand. Just ordered these and enjoyed immediate comfort!

Wow! I ordered this "Mephisto Hannel" yesterday and you sent it to me free next day! I am so happy. I ordered 1 size up as it said; it fits perfect! Nice & very soft footbed. A very good shoe. Thank you Zappos. This is my birthday present to myself. I know what I want.
