Although I really like the shoe and overall it fit well, the strap across the top hit at the wrong place on a bunion.

I love this shoe. I've been wearing this style for several years. It is just right for my difficult feet.

Sandals fit perfectly. I especially liked that I could adjust the tension in the straps with the buckles (not just decoration!) Very comfortable and I’m certain I will wear them a lot.

I broke a bone in my foot and needed to wear supportive sandals during the healing process. I owned 3 pairs of Mephisto Hannel sandals that I purchased at least 15 yrs ago and still wear year round. The footbeds over time had hardened, so my podiatrist suggested that I get a new pair for added comfort. The new pair with a soft, yet supportive footbed were perfect. I also appreciate the ability to adjust the sandals around the bandaging on my foot. I'm sure that I'll enjoy this pair of sandals as much as I do my original 3 pairs.

Very comfortable and a lovely neutral color. The little buckles are a nice touch and make this somewhat clunky design a little more dainty

I find these shoes to run small. I had to order two pairs to get a good fit. The shoes that finally fit were 1 1/2 sizes bigger than what I wear and US-made shoes. Buyers might be wise to measure their feet using the measuring guidelines from the brand. The shoes were very comfortable right out of the box and seem to have little or no break in time. I’ve been wearing them for a couple of days with no discomfort at all. Thankfully Zappos has a great return policy and it was easy to exchange for another size.

I buy this sandal every two years. I have narrow feet and can tighten these to to first hole to fit perfectly. After two years, the straps stretch and they become my winter slippers when warn with wool socks. After four years of almost daily wear, they are ready to be replaced.

I’ve bought 7 pairs of these over the past 10 years - in black, tan, and navy. Best sandals ever. I’m a 7.5, right in between a 37 and a 38. Either size works for me. They are incredibly comfortable! I’ve taken these on vacation and walked as much as 12 miles in one day in these, and no aches, pains, blisters, soreness. I’m really hard on shoes! I’ve waded thru puddles in these, worked in the yard in the black ones, and somehow they stay looking good for years. Not forever (not the way I treat them), but after a 2-3 years of beating up the size 38s, I’ll give them to my daughter (an 8.5), and she’ll wear them for several more years. They’re the best.

This is the first time I've purchased Mephisto's Hannel, but I like them just as much as some of the other Mephisto styles I own. They have a bit of a Birk look, but I prefer the fit of Mephisto over Birks as they have a more flexible sole. The footbed is supportive and the straps hold the sandals on my feet without rubbing. Worth the cost.

I like them. Not as well as the Helen but those are hard to beat for me and my tendonitis.

I love this sandal style and saw an exact color on Zappos but unfortunately didn’t have the size I needed (5). I ordered size 6 but found it much bigger than hoped. Still love the style and color Grey Etta

There a bit expensive. More sophisticated than Birkenstock. Look good, and always reliable in size and fit. Im an 8 1/2US and 39 fit perfectly.

These Mephisto sandals are the best "comfort" sandals I have ever owned. I recently bought a second pair in black. For years I was into Birkenstocks but They seemed to have changed their sizing on the Arizona style to unisex which doesn't work for me. The regular are much too wide and the narrow too tight.... I wear a 9 1/2- 10 shoe and the Mephisto 40 fits perfectly. They don't even need breaking in. They are a bit pricey but worth every sent......looking forward to wearing them while sightseeing in Europ this summer.

Zappos came through again! I originally ordered a Birkenstock sandal, based on a pair I owned many moons ago. However, the sandals did not reflect the quality construction I remembered. Before ordering the Birks, I had researched both Birkenstock and Mephisto. A friend had raved about her Mephisto sandals, but I stubbornly decided on the Birks. When I realized my mistake I replaced the "replacement" Birks with the Mephistos. What a difference! The Mephisto (Hannel) fits great (I ended up ordering one size larger), and it is so comfortable. Bottom line: My next sandal with be a Mephisto - period. No more Birks for this gal! And thank you, Zappos, for your free shipping, returns, and wonderfully patient staff!

Marvelous sandal! This is my second pair and I'll keep buying them whenever I need a new pair. That is isn't very often though, they wear beautifully and my last pair lasted for years. The only caution I have is buy the nubuck. My sister bought regular leather and had a hard time breaking them in.

I had these in blue, so it was a "no-brainer" to order. The benefit was that Zappos had it in black, whereas my retailers didn't. It is stylish and comfortable. Holds to the foot really well...as well as giving the using-a-sock-option in cooler weather.

This is my third pair of Mephisto's. I love the fit, the comfort and the style. Each pair has lasted several years (and I still wear the oldest ones!). Well made sandal and very stylish for those of us with very bad feet.

Excellent sandal. Very comfortable with good arch support. Sized generously, which is wonderful for my wide feet. Attractive.

I have been wearing the Hannel for about a year now. I have since purchased a second pair. I am so afraid they will discontinue it I am going to buy 2 more pair. Why? It is the best shoe I have ever worn, and I am pretty old. It has a perfect fit. It makes my foot look great. The foot bed is so soft on my bony feet. I do not have much of an arch anymore but the Hannel supports my foot just fine. I have a narrow heel and forefoot, but somehow this shoe is absolutely perfect.

This sandal is absolutely perfect. It is so comfy that you just don't want to take them off for any reason. They run one half size large. So go down half a size and you will be very pleased. H.H. Tucson, Arizona

I was looking for navy blue sandals that were comfortable and these fit the bill. My only complaint is I wish they were a little dressier.

Love the look, but there is too much arch support and it hurt my flatter arch when wearing them around the house.

I tried dozens of styles in the expensive comfort sandals category and this is by far the best! I could not be more pleased with these sandals. Soft leather, arch support, toe support grip, all day comfort sole and they even look nice, better looking than Birks and more comfortable than Naot!

These sandals are super comfortable right out of the box. I'm extremely hard to fit and these fit like a glove. Love the color, heel height, and excellent support.

These are beautiful (they shimmer a bit) and comfortable and fit very well. I have tendinitis in my ankle right now and my podiatrist wants me in shoes 24/7. These are my indoor shoes which are easy to use even in the middle of the night. They are very protective for sore feet.
