I wear a size 8 and ordered the 39 because I had tried on some Mephistos at Nordstrom. I love these shoes. I have been wearing them all summer because they are so comfortable. My feet/big toe were sore because I had been wearing flip-flops so much and they feel great now. I know they are not fancy, but they are perfect for shorts and running around.

I have bought the Hannel style in several colors over the years. I feel they are true to size and I find them very comfortable. I highly recommend them to anyone.

I have two pairs of Hannels, navy blue and tan nubuck, that I wear almost all year 'round. They aren't the most fashionable sandals, but they are the most comfortable ones I own. They've stretched out a bit but it's because I wear them indoors with socks through the winter. The footbed is the greatest for me because I have high arches and neuromas in both feet. I like that they're adjustable because I have a narrow foot. When they do eventually stretch out a bit, I have the shoe repair man put an extra hole in them for a tighter fit. I have tried the cobra leather but as another reviewer said, the leather is thin and cheap, and I returned them because I thought they would stretch or wear out in no time.

If you want a Great support sandal. Try this one. Has a Great cork footbed-slips on easy-can wear with shorts-caprics and yes even a dress.

These shoes were comfortable right out of the box! I love them and get compliments every time I wear them. I am planning to order in another color. Unlike Naot, and Birks, they are semi-soft in the footbed, but firm enough to be supportive. The arch and heel cup fit perfectly and ease all of my foot pain problems. They actually help alleviate my lower back pain. Definitely worth every penny! Zappos service was excellent and I received them very quickly. I ordered another pair that didn't work, and the return was easy. Zappos kept me informed via email every step of the way, so I never worried about my delivery or the receipt of the return.

Mephisto Hannel...been around for many years...wear well, arch/heel support are better than my $500 custom made orthotics. I recently replaced my black Hannels + I bought the patent leather turq...get so many compliments. I've been wearing Hannels for about 15 years! Before Hannel I wore Birkenstocks. Zappos is the best to buy shoes...great customer service/return policy! I have wide feet/straps adjust. I have Plantar Fasciitis. European sizing...wear 10=Am. 9. Perfect fit!

I usually cannot wear Mephisto because straps are in the wrong places and they are too tight. But these are great! I wear a wide 10 and am very happy with the fit on these sandals. I wish they came in more dressy colors, though.

Good soft sandal that is great for wearing for long periods of the day. I wanted a comfortable sandal and got it. Very good support and a soft footbed can't be found in too many shoes, but this one delivers.

These are my favorite shoes. I've had 3 pair over the years. They have great support and the new mint color is very attractive.

When I first put the shoe on I was not happy with how stiff it felt but I wore the shoe around the house for about 30 minutes & it softened. I love these shoes! So glad I gave them a second chance!

This was my second purchase of this shoe. They wear very well, had had my first pair for years and they still look nice. I am a moderate overpronator and these shoes are quite good for that purpose. They are a comfort shoe but don't look like it -- very cute, wish they came in more colors.

A comfortable shoe! I've had foot surgery and need a shoe with good arch support - this is one that works. I also have a narrow foot and the buckles make it easy to get a good fit. Not the cutest shoe in the world but an unobtrusive one that blends in. I own several pairs of Mephisto sandals and have been happy with them all.

The sandal is very comfortable but it is too wide. The straps are adjustable but after wearing them for awhile they are going to loosen up and there will be no more space for adjusting so back they go. I don't know if it's this particular pair or this style is just wider than other styles. My favorite is Helen. And this sandal is very similar in arch support but wider.

After years of wearing that "other" German sandal, I am now a convert to French Mephisto. My feet couldn't be happier.

Mephisto Hannel has been my sandal for several years. This shoe was recommended by my podiatrist and has proven to be what works for me. I have this style in black, tan, and dark brown. This is an excellent sandal for anyone who needs good arch support.

I have plantar fasciitis, high arches, and a chronic lis franc sprain, so am constantly looking for cute but very supportive (and pain-free!) shoes. They are true to size if you follow the advice in the item description. I ordered these in a 36, which is a size 6 according to Zappos (and my normal shoe size). I typically order a 35 in Dansko and Sanita, and a 36 in Alegria, if that is helpful to you. I ordered the Helen sandal and found I also needed a 35 in those and found them to irritate the top of my foot. Let's see how these do walking all over Italy in August.

I have been wearing these right out of the box. I am a Birkenstock buyer who now will buy only Mephisto. These look far better than Birkies and are oh so comfortable. I have been trying to get a comfortable pair of closed heels for years. Nothing works and believe me I've tried them all. Next I'll try Mephisto heels. I have a pair of Elkas and they are a charm.

I have started having plantars fasciitis issues and needed to find some supportive house shoes. Birkenstocks didn't do a thing for me in terms of comfort (not enough arch). These felt really good on my feet, but...in the end they (like Birkenstocks) were just too ugly for my taste. I am not a Birkenstock/earthy sandal girl. (I was hoping they would grow on me because of overwhelming comfort or something, but they didn't. I just couldn't go through with it after all.) Other cons for my situation: they felt too clunky for the house, and I wasn't quite sure how I would like the straps long-term. I wear a half size normally. When I went up a size, there weren't enough buckle holes for my average foot. When I went down, it was better but I wasn't sure how things would stretch over time. Beyond the fact that I just couldn't get over the style, I have to say when I got the straps adjusted they were very, very comfortable. In the end, I opted for an Orthaheel slipper that's more lightweight for the house instead (and love, love, love it), and an Orthaheel cuter sportier sandal for outdoors that better fits my tastes. If they are your style, you're in luck because they are comfortable, have great arch support, and seem to be good quality!

I bought my first pair of Hannel Mephistos last summer and have worn them all year 'round, in the winter with socks, because they are the most comfortable shoes and provide the best support for my high arches. I wish they still had the dark blue because they look great with jeans, although they still look pretty good this year and I will continue to wear them. This year I bought them in the Dark Brown Scratch. I love that both straps are adjustable, since my feet are narrower than a B width. I walk a lot (New York City) and my feet never get tired in these shoes! And in the winter I would come home and change into them and my feet felt instantly revived.

I have been wearing Mephisto's for over 10 years. The show last, it is very comfortable and worth every penny.

I've had this sandal for years and in all colors. I love it! It's taken me through many foot problems including surgeries. It's so nice that you can adjust the straps to allow for swelling, thin bandages and the like. What I also like about this shoe is that it's not bulky like some other cork sandals. And the footbed is soft for these aging feet. That's not to say that young people shouldn't buy it, because it's stylish as well. Don't hesitate to buy, it's true to size.

Perfect for a narrow foot with outstanding arch support. I bought this shoe because the reviews said that it ran small. It does in both width and length. Perfect in 11 for a 10.5 AA foot (and it's cute too).

I will say this feels wider only because I have relatively wide feet with high insteps and arches. I love these sandals! I am on my second pair with the black nubuck and just invested in the scratch brown leather. The footbed starts out feeling a bit hard, but conforms to your feet to give you the exact support that you need after you wear them a while. The straps do stretch (after a season or so) but then you can cinch them up with the buckles. I love these sandals! They are so worth the price for me!

I love these sandals! They fit like Mephisto's others, but add just a little interest with the asymmetric straps. The footbed conforms to your foot nicely after a bit of wear. The leather does stretch out a bit with wear, but then you can cinch it up a notch! I have this one in both the brown distressed leather and the black nubuck. I have a high instep and arch, and a relatively wide foot. I love them!

I love them, super comfy from day 1. Perfect for walking around running errands, going to the beach, and just a casual, comfortable shoe you can quickly slip into. I usually am a 9, sizing was perfect.
