I was hoping that I could find a Salomon shoe that would work for me but as soon as I put them on I knew these were not the ones. The only way I can describe it is when you put your foot, that is covered in sand, into your sneaker. It felt very rough and abrasive (yes I did have socks on). I returned them.

I have bought a new pair of XA Pros every year for several years. They have been my go-to trail running shoe. They are comfortable enough I often wear them around town. Unfortunately they have redesigned the tongue / upper. The old tongue was minimalist and almost sock-like. I loved it. It was very cool in the summer and did not rub my ankle. This year the tongue is large and very padded. It is so large that it prevents me from properly tightening the lace system. It rubs my ankle in an uncomfortable way. And it is hot. Sadly I'm going to have to find me a different pair of trail shoes for the summer. I am very disappointed. The new tongue is similar to the tongue in the XA Pro GTX version. I tolerate the thickness in the XA Pro GTX because I wear those in the snow and the thicker fabric keeps the shoe warmer and keeps out snow. In addition, during the winter I can compensate for not being able to properly tighten the shoe by wearing thicker socks. But I don't see why anyone would want a thicker tongue for a lightweight runner designed to be worn in warm weather.
Disappointed,

I have worn these for one month. I would rate them much higher if the lacing system was different. It causes bad pressure points across the forefoot and proximal mid foot. There is no way to selectively tighten the shoe. TO get the heel to stay snug, the circulation is cut off in the forefoot. Laces have slid out numerous times. I have been tripped twice and had to stop running at least 3 times per run. It is a shame because the shoe itself might be great.
I love my other Solomens. I have been wearing their hiking shoes for years. I'm a surgeon and I wear them in the OR. Best shoes I have ever worn. So I am very bummed about these trail shoes.

There is no way these shoes are an actual mens size 11. They appear well constructed and are attractive but they simply do not fit right and hurt, so I no longer wear them. Will only buy sort shoes in person going forward.

I had fit problems with this shoe. My heel kept slipping up and down, and the balls of my feet were swimming in this shoe. They were too wide in the ball of the foot and too long. The arch area felt okay. They were terribly uncomfortable.

Not comfortable! I used to love the Salomon Synapse shoes but can't find them anymore. This is a very poor substitute. Very stiff on the sole and painful on the top of my foot after walking 1/2 mile.

Too wide, too long, terribly uncomfortable. The heel kept sliding up and down, and my feet were swimming in the wide toe box area. I usually wear a size 5, and they don't make these smaller than 5, so I had to return them. I also disliked the annoying lacing design. I recommend ordering these at least one size smaller.

These are hiking shoes, not trail running shoes. The shoes look good and the upper is great. The sole is too stiff and there is very little padding under the ball of the foot. I can only run about 5 miles before my feet hurt. I hate these shoes. I love my Crossmax and Speedcross shoes and need to go back to them.
