Great colors, but toe cover too big - laces on one shoe extremely hard to pull slide with arthritic hands. Had surgery on one foot, that shoe was not comfortable.

Salomon’s are changing for the worse - I have lived in Salomon XA Comps for the last 5 years. I have worn them for everything: work, play, travel... They were the perfect all-around shoe. Now the new XA Comps are hard and wider in the heel and instep - not good for me. So I changed to the XA Pro. Neither the Comps nor the Pros come in decent colors anymore. The deal breaker for both new styles is the new tongue; it's only lightly padded and where the new logo strip is sewn through there is no padding at all. If you like your shoes snug, you will feel the laces. Compared to the Comp, the Pro has much more stability and is stiffer as a result. The ankles are higher to add to stability. There is a lot more plastic so they are hotter. Lacing system is still awesome. Sole is not nearly as sticky as the Comp sole (I thought ContaGrip was ContaGrip?). On wet rock or walking into a store out of the rain, Pros are really slippery while the Comps are not. Salomon seems to be getting cheaper while raising prices. You might consider The North Face instead.

This shoe was very stable on the trails. Very comfortable but a bit wide for my forefoot, my foot slide around on the trails in the forefoot. A great looking shoe also. The lacing system seems very fragile I am interested to see how they hold up to rough trail running.

Stylin... but a bit clunky - Love, love the look of this shoes. But being that I have a true "6" sized foot - European shoes are often sized too large when selecting 36 - but they didn't come in 35 and I thought that I could use the extra room with summer heat around the corner. The overall profile of the shoe is quite large, so if you have smallish sized feet you may find these a bit clunky. With that said, I quite like them for a very distinct purpose which is spending an hour or so on the elliptical trainer or Stairmaster. My feet tend to swell during these long sessions so I am appreciative of this shoe's large profile and easy ability to loosen the laces. Also while larger profile, the heel is tight enough to prevent slippage/blisters -- but I did get a blister on my lower leg from the tongue, which is easily avoided if you wear socks that are above the ankle. The laces are ingenious and the tip to preventing the top part from hitting you in the leg or messing with your pants is to tuck it through the elastic at the top of the tongue. If the shoe was available in a 35 then I think it would be perfect! By the way -- these shoes do not breath all that well. I found my feet getting quite hot, but then again these shoes aren't meant to be vented since they are trail shoes... which I understand are more bulky/clunky than regular trainers. Wouldn't consider running (trail or otherwise) in them however, since they hit too high on my ankle. The greatest attribute of Salomons is that they take a licking and keep on ticking. I have my S-snow clogs for almost 10 years now and they still look great -- even after living in the CO mtns for 5 years and wearing them most of the year.

The Salomon XA Pro 3d is a great shoe. I will buy this shoe again in the future. The only issue I have with the shoe is that it doesn't have as much cushion as I would like since I run on rocky trails. Other than that, it has been great since the first run and it accommodates my wide feet and narrow heels well.

Love the shoes - The shoes look great but they are a little snug on the sides. I wear a size 7 M and rarely have an issue with shoes. I am hoping they will give a little with time. They do give good support.

Very comfortable - Despite snug fit, still very comfortable. Drawback, especialy considering the price -- the red lining stains socks, and one spot on tongue looks like it might unravel.

Lived up to its reputation - Coming from someone with weak ankles and high arches, this shoe is quite comfortable and supportive. I wear them to walk 8-10 miles at a time and they get the job done. I would say that the shoe is closer in resemblance to a high top, than it is a tennis shoe -which isn't a bad thing, just not what I was expecting from the picture of the shoe. The "no lace" feature is quick and easy and surprisingly effective -the tongue always stays in place!

Bien sportivement

I have a fairly high arch, making it difficult to put on the shoes even if the laces are completely loose. They were comfortable when I tried them on in the shop, however I ended up with blisters on the back of my heels after a few short runs. I have not yet taken them on rocky terrain, only for runs on the coastline, but find them a bit "heavy". If it's just a case of "breaking them in", I'm happy to keep going!

The current model does not have the same shank / arch (midsole) support as previous models. Is this a cost cutting measure? It WAS a great shoe, but alas someone at Salomon has made a bad decision to make the support cushier/cheaper Look at the midsole on a 2016 and a 2017 model and one can see the difference. Still comfortable but doesn't have the same support once carrying a pack.

I felt I was putting on a suit of armor when I tried on these shoes. Very little flexibility. Could interpret that as a lot of support, but, even with fairly narrow feet, I wasn't comfortable in them. Wired laces would not work on left shoe to adjust slide button forward or backward. Difficult to get on or off. Shoe construction very solid, should last a long time, but very narrow in the heel. Have worn other Salomons with great comfort. Sorry, wanted so much to have a supportive shoe, but cannot adjust to this one.

I ordered a WOMEN's size 11, and I received what seemed like a men's size 11. The shoes were just too big :( It's such a shame too, since the quality is amazing, and it looks like it's long lasting...I just need to return for one that'll actually fit me

Based on other reviews, I ordered a half size down. They seemed to fit when I tried them on inside, but when I wore them outside for a run they were definitely just a bit too big -- and now it's too late to return them. Wish I would have ordered a full size down.

Comfortable except they rubbed in the inside of both feet in front of my ankle. The support is great and the style is not bad at all. Toe protection was also a great feature.

Very clunky-looking. Not so bad if worn with pants but terrible if worn with shorts. The colors are marvelous & that's what drew me. If used for actual hiking, these offer excellent protection for the toes and the toe box is roomy if maybe a bit overlarge. I'd recommend ordering a half size smaller than normal.

I loved these and overall they fit wonderfully. Based on the feedback others left, I ordered half a size smaller than normal, and was pleased with the sizing. This is my first experience with this kind of lacing and I really loved it, too - easy to get a snug fit and no worries about laces coming loose. However, I had issues with the seaming where the tongue was attached to the interior of the shoe - it hit me on both sides of my foot, just above the toes, and I could tell immediately that the rubbing/chafing would cause me no end of discomfort, so I had to send these back. I did not recall reading any other reviews that mentioned this, so I am not sure if it was a fluke with the pair that I received or just a personal issue. If the seaming had not been an issue for me, I would have kept and worn these into the ground. They would look great around town or on the train. So sad for me!

If you can get these shoes on, and if you order a size smaller, they are probably good shoes. They sure look great! I am sorry to have to return them. I have arthritis in my hands, and I had a very hard time with the strange tongue and lacing system. I don't get how you are supposed to tuck the lacing gizmo into the little pocket! When the shoe is laced up tight, it just doesn't fit in there. The tongue is really hard to hand onto while you're pushing your foot in. My podiatrist recommended these shoes, but it seems they are not really designed for middle-aged women.

Disappointment with a Capital D - Unfortunately it took several wearings, several long walks, for the quirks of this shoe to reveal themselves and ruin the shoe for me. I had to order a half size larger than other shoes because of the upturned toe box. Initially, I liked the wide and upturned toe box, but after wearing the shoes on a five mile walk, I felt like I was going to trip over the toe. I felt clumsy and it reminded me of when I was six years old--many decades ago-- when our Keds had rubber toes. The shoe's arch feels like it's in the wrong place for my foot, making it uncomfortable. The shoe looks good and is probably well made, but I'm not happy with my choice. And it's too bad that it takes time and outside wearing to discover that a shoe isn't right.

Perfection but the sole! Bought these shoes for light hiking. So far had them for a month while I’ve been in the Andes. Fit great, really comfortable, great lacing system... the shoes are like manner from heaven BUT for the sole. 1. Think I am used to a lot more cushioning from my Asics for running purposes... 2. The sole is very soft and not very well defined... from about two weeks of use on mixed terrain, rock, mud etc they’re already showing a LOT of wear... and the sole is not deep cut so at times I think after a month or two more they’ll be just about worn useless. A mate down here who does lots of competition says they’ll get about two competitions out of the shoes and then just chuck em for this reason.

Just short of comfort - These not-unattractive shoes were almost okay, but they hurt across the top of the foot--mid-foot where the most prominent bone is--and it was hard to imagine they would improve after the break-in period.

They're ok - Not as much arch support as I had hoped for and virtually no "bounce". Because of the draw string ties, you're limited to how you can tighten. I found them to be too wide towards the toe but when I tightened them, it cut across the top of my foot. I definitely feel like I couldn't run in them but for walking or hiking, they're OK. Attractive enough and workable - not the best shoes I've ever had though.
