While these are lovely, they are not as fabulous as the image shown. I wear a 7.5 and ordered a 7, which would have been perfect had the shaft not been so narrow. Ladies with thick calves, these will not be flattering. I don't tuck pants in generally, so I might have kept them except they were damaged. The leather was cut/torn just a bit at the top front of one of the boots where the V is. Then some of the stitching was loose in other places. The toe was also scuffed on one boot.
This is the third time I've received damaged shoes from Zappos in the last year or so. Each time they arrive in a generic box instead of an original, which leads me to assume they were returned from someone else without the original packaging. And I have to wonder if they were returned because they were damaged. Either way, I'm tired of receiving damaged shoes from Zappos. They seem to be slipping.

I've never worn cowboy boots before, so I wasn't sure what to expect and did tons of research before buying Lucchese. These are the best of the best in craftsmanship and quality, and they are simply so gorgeous I could put them on a table in my living room and use them as art. However, I purchased these N4540 in my normal size 8.5 and also in 8 so I could figure out which worked best for me (some reviews say order 1/2 size down, while others say they are true to size). The two pair of boots came in slightly different colors, one pair was much darker than the other. Both were gorgeous and either would have been fine to keep! I tried on the 8.5 and my foot went right in with only a little tugging (the leather is a bit stiff and the shaft is narrow) and I walked around my house a bit. My toes were snug and my heel slipped, which is exactly how they are supposed to fit. Later when I tried on the size 8's, my toes were even snugger and the heel only slipped on my right foot while the left was sort of crammed in there. So for me, these ran true to size. I have to say that neither size boot was comfortable. These boots are incredibly stiff, and the leather is not what I would call "buttery" the way for instance Frye harness boots are. The leather of the shaft is actually quite thin and sort of "papery" feeling, like thin cardboard. The toe box has thicker leather and is a bit softer than the shaft, but still kind of rigid. The place where the foot meets the shaft leather has a seam, and that seam runs behind the ankle, so as my heel would slip in the boot it was scraped against the back seem. I read a bunch online and because they were so beautiful I kept the 8.5s and rationalized that they needed time to break in. I wore them from late summer to early winter, so at some point they must have broken in, but I simply never felt comfortable for a minute in them. They conformed a little better to the shape of my foot, but they don't have any cushioning in them and my feet would be exhausted at the end of the day. I looked forward to getting them off each evening. I adored how they looked so I bought insoles for them (but there's no space for insoles in the boots) and played around with the idea of having them resoled to see if I could get some buffer between my feet and the ground other than the thin leather sole, but at that point I realized that the amount of work I'd have to do to get these expensive boots to be comfortable was too much and I sort of threw in the towel on them. My take home on these boots is: gorgeous, work of art, beautiful boots - but horribly uncomfortable.

Huge disappoinment! I am a big fan of Luchesse and will not even try on any other cowboy boot so I was very excited when I read all the great reviews on this boot. They didn't have my size so I even checked back for a month and it finally came back in stock. Arrived yesterday and such a letdown- does not even feel like a Luchesse- extremely stiff and terribly uncomfortable. Feels like the cheap boots I see in those mega boot stores where you get buy 1 get 2 free- not a pricey boot! I have a pair of black Luchesse's that are like butter and fit like a glove and did from out of the box. These are not even close. Cannot send back fast enough- this makes me very hesitant to try other Luchesse's online without trying them on first.
