Johnston & Murphy's Melton -
Size 10.5 D. Shoe felt slightly narrow. May break in. Don't know yet. Had same problem with an old pair of US made Bostonian dress shoes. They eventually broke in. J&Ms had good workmanship and the black leather shines up very nicely with KIWI parade polish.
I'd also recommend:
Sebago shoes fit me perfectly but I don't think they make dress shoes.

Well-made traditional shoe with leather sole, unusual one-sided tongue, and fine overall finishing. Hard foot bed, shallow arch support and a very stiff sole meant an uncomfortable first try-on and a prolonged break-in period. Returned them in favor of a similar, more forgiving and comfortable shoe from another maker.

Not very comfortable at all. The size was right but they really chewed up my foot right where the opening was. It's too bad because they look amazing. I don't think I could even get to the point where they are broken in without blistering my foot.

This is the third time I have purchased this shoe, but something has changed. They don't fit like prior ones (cut bigger) and I'm not sure if the leather is cheaper, particularly inside, but they just don't fit as well. My feet tend to sweat more in them (hence my leather comment). I've had them for 6 months now hoping it would get better.

Bought the shoe b/c of the excellent review and how stylish it looks (plus it came in my size 15). Very painful bend in the shoe at the toe has caused significant discomfort. Hoping they will break in, but wondering if they will.

Looks good feels bad -
The inside edge of the shoe rides high and tight against the ankle bone causing friction and blisters. The closure is simply too small for comfort. Looks great, very classy and dressy, but ouch!

These shoes look good, but are uncomfortable and very slippery, especially on wet surfaces. I have a ten-minute walk to my train station, and even after a month of breaking them in, these shoes don't feel comfortable. Also, they are extremely slippery when it rains or snows. I ended up paying a shoe repair guy to put rubber soles on them.

One shoe had a section that peeled off like it was painted on. It was on the top of the shoe at the bend point on the toe. It is probably not noticeable to others but you can definitely see the blemish.

I wore them twice. The second time I took them on a 2 day business trip and could barely walk after the second day. I had severe blisters on the knuckle of both my big toes. Just returned them. They fit fine and were not tight or loose. Walking in them was the issue and the more I walked the worse they got. I expected more from Johnston & Murphy. Maybe they need to be broken in differently

I've been wearing a different style of Johnston & Murphy (Atchison Cap Toes) for a few years but decided to go one level fancier and bought Meltons. I was disappointed. They definitely look good, but even after two weeks of wear, my feet hurt after -- I was waiting to take them off at the end of the day. The laces kept becoming lose -- yes, double tying helps. And the shoe tongue is laced to one side, which make putting them on more difficult. So after two weeks, guess what I'm going to do today? Order a new pair of Atchison Cap Toes. It's a bit of an expensive lesson in shoes.

I have a hard to fit foot since I am a true 6.5. The shoe from Johnston & Murphy felt as though they have enlarged their original last.The shoe allowed heel slippage and came up too far on the top of the foot.

The shoe looks gorgeous on feet, fits perfectly and feels great. No gaps between the ankle parts, one of the reasons I bought this shoe, and overall design is beautiful, another reason I bought the shoe! 10/10 would recommend!

I ordered a pair of shoes 11 extra wide. When I tried them on I couldn't get my foot in the shoe. It's a beautiful pair of shoes with leather soles. If they had 11 4E I would buy two pair of shoes. One brown and the other black. Thx.

Toe box is nice and wide, but the mid section of the shoe is still narrow. Also the sizing is a bit long. I usually wear a 10.5 but my heels were slipping out the back of 10s.
