Good shoe however why does J & M dumb their product selection down to include CHEAP overseas products? Make a great durable and comfortable shoe and we will pay the difference! [...]

Shoe was greatly crafted but unfortunately, I have a real narrow heel and none of the Johnston Murphy shoes cater to that need.

This shoe requires several wearings in order to break the show in. It runs 1/2 size large. I wear a 10 1/2 N in every brand of shoe I own. This shoe required me to purchase a 10 N.

Quality shoe for the money. Has taken a little while to get broken in. Seems to be holding up nicely to my abuse. I would definitely buy this again... after I have it resoled a couple times.

A great alternative to the more expensive Trampoline cushion series and looks every bit as good. Only the laces are an issue having been changed to some type of material that will NOT stay tied.

They had a painful break in period, took about a month. I guess this is due to the thick leather or that i may have go them slightly too big

The Melton is a well made shoe. The six eyelets help make a secure fit while looking dressy. The arch support is not great so I added an insert arch. The finish work is good and it looks classy. This is the best price I could find for Johnston & Murphy shoes.

Solid Shoe -
These are solid shoes that look good with a business suit. They are not shoes to walk all day in, but have only worn them 3 times. Maybe they will soften as they break in.

Very good shoe, very good price -
I like to think I try to choose value over strictly form or price. While I make mistakes like everyone else, purchasing this shoe wasn't a mistake. They are a little stiff (let's say "sturdy") as I'm breaking them in, but if "sturdy" is a value in the long-run, then I'll take "a little stiff" in the short-term. The shoe fit, e.g., comfortable, is about as good as this type of shoe is going to fit my foot or anyone else's. I've had no problem wearing this shoe, right out of the box, all day. The shoe looks good: good construction, good, clean stitching, professional. It's hard to tell how long a particular shoe leather will hold a shine, but this shoe shines well out of the box and... so far, so good. I'm pleased with my purchases(s). I think it's a very good shoe, which looks great, at a very good price.

Good shoe for EEE size -
Traditionally, I have been a true 10.5 EEE. And these shoes are a perfect match for me. They are a bit rigid when new, but break in somewhat. The leather is the shiny style. So if you do not like the very polished look, do not buy.

Excellent shoe, but you need to test drive!
When I lace up, the leather is as close together as it will go but the shoe is just barely snug -- and loosens slightly during the day. I had a size 9.5 pair for 10 years but needed replacement for a little extra width. I wore them around the house a little and they felt fine. Wearing them all day - the looseness is more evident.

High quality and classic -
I normally wear 15 4E, and this 3E shoe has plenty of width. The heel is bowed out and doesn't actually meet my heel yet, but hopefully it will as I wear it. Construction is flawless and quality is legendary.

Squeaky lining -
These shoes feel as good as a leather-soled dress shoe can feel. The arch support is excellent. They look good too, though the leather is a bit shinier and more plastic-like than more expensive shoes. I believe it is corrected-grain as opposed to full-grain leather. The soles are nice, but they do wear down quickly as most leather soles will do. The major problem with these shoes for me is the squeaky noise my socks make against the shoe lining. Perhaps that is something that will fade over time.

Looks better than it feels -
Great looking shoe for wearing with a suit, but on my feet the sidewall hits me in the ankle somewhat. I put orthotics in them and that lifted me up enough that my ankle bone cleared the shoe. Very pleased with shipping and the price was fair.

Orthotics? Requires one size larger -
I purchased two pairs of these shoes. They are EXCELLENT shoes, true dress shoes very well made and a true value. They do need breaking-in, but that is to be expected from the high quality leather that is used. Conditioning prior to first use does help.
Orthotics? They really don't accommodate them unless you order a size larger. The larger ones look big on my feet but are very comfortable. The smaller ones (my true shoe size) are super comfortable without the orthotics, but shallow with.
Excellent shoe value, classic style, great business dress shoe. This isn't your "casual dress" sneaker-like shoe, but a true dress shoe. My bet would be that plenty of Manhattan lawyers and stockbrokers wear this shoe.

The shoe is very attractive and stylish. However I was looking for a shoe with much greater comfort. The advertisement details convinced me that it was a well cushioned shoe. Unfortunately it is not. Furthermore while attractive it is not a flexible shoe making it quite difficult to walk in. I hope to make a better choice next time.

I looked forward to these shoes. However, I didn't expect them to be made from such a hard leather. Sure, the build quality appears good. But the leather quality isn't. They're no give, nothing soft; that just makes them uncomfortable.

My husband only wears a certain brand and a certain size. So I order the same size every time. The black pair did not fit and we double checked the size.
