Incredibly impressed with this shoe. The quality and construction are superb. I have several pairs of shoes from J&M and if I were to purchase only one pair it would be this one.

I had previously owned two different pairs of Johnston & Murphy shoes. But after the Great Recession hit, I had to "settle" for a pair of Bostonians until a few weeks ago when I purchased my third pair. What a difference!!! The J&M's are so much more substanial shoes. Also, I have a thin heel, and the custom sizing options offered by J&M makes all the difference in how comfortable the shoes fit. I'm glad to be back wearing Johnston & Murphy shoes!!!

I own the WAVERLY WINGTIP which is a similar base and love it. I bought the MELTON CAP-TOE to wear in my wedding this Oct 2013. I have suggested to all of my grooms men to purchase the same shoe. You do need to break them in just a little bit. The leather around the ankle does bite because the leather is brand new. But you can work that out with your hands before you wear them, only takes a few minutes.

I have owned seven or eight pairs of these in both colors over the past several years. I wear them continuously at work 50 plus hours a week, 50 weeks a year. Comfort is paramount as I have had a hammer toe for several years and frankly don't have time to have surgery and go through recovery. These shoes literally keep me in the game. They're comfortable right out of the box and after eight months or so, I'll give them to a patient and pull the next pair off the shelf. They've stayed true to size over the years and never go out of style. I have never felt underdressed both in and out of the office and receive positive comments almost weekly. Best dress shoe I've ever owned and worth every penny. Value and comfort never go out of style.

Bought the Melton Cap-Toe for my wedding this October 2013. I already own the wing-tips of the same base and wear them often. I have suggested that all my grooms men buy the same shoe since we all bought suites instead of renting tuxes. I can't wait to wear them more often.

Wouldn't buy any other dress shoe than a Johnston & Murphy for style and comfort!!

This pair is my third pair of Melton Captoe shoes. Would recommend. Good value for the price.

Looks nice, comfortable. Use for dressing up. Has leather sole which is a plus for me. Will not buy a shoe with a rubber sole as I have had rubber soles crack in the past.

Its a very nice style and easy to slip on. Its very comgortable but need to scuff up the bottoms so you dont slip and slide

As the title says this is my 2nd pair of Meltons. I have black and burgundy. My first pair is in for refurbishing. I have narrow (B width) feet. Good shoes at a reasonable price are hard to find. I spend 8 (sometimes 10) hours a day on my feet and average 3-5 miles of walking per my pedometer. As you can imagine comfort is paramount when I purchase shoes. These shoes have never let me down. Break in time is minimal. The styling is very traditional business dress. They take a shine very well and keep me looking professional. Break in tip: wear these shoes for about an hour the first day, then two the next time. On the third day wear them for about half the day (change at lunch time?) and you are done. I wear these shoes about every other day, alternating them with another pair of high end cap toe shoes. When my black Meltons return form refurbishment I will wear each pair once every three days . Keep them polished and in shoe trees when they aren't on your feet and they will last forever.

I initially got a regular sized width and it did not fit. I contacted Johnston and Murphy but NEVER heard back. I am glad this smaller size (C) fits well because I did not want to go through the hassle of contacting you again. Otherwise, the store in Westfarms Mall in Connecticut was fantastic to deal with.

This shoe is great - an everyday shoe for work.
