This shoe is my everyday shoe

I have difficulty finding dress shoes in a 13. Nowadays shoes my size look like clown shoes with the extra inches curled (or not) at the top. That's if I don't have to look for wides. But you can't buy nice kicks for $60. My Meltons are worth more than the money I paid. I bought a pair in 2005 (burgundy) and wore them often. The only reason I need a new pair is due to an unfortunate accident with a broken liquor bottle in my luggage. I went for a black pair this time. What a treat for my feet! The breakin took just two wears. With jeans, baggies or a suit, can't go wrong! Do your feet a favor and pick up a pair--you'll get more than what you paid for

So far my husbands favorite shoe...didn't take a long time to break in. A bit pricey so hopefully they last longer than the 6-month timeline it takes my husband to wear through shoes.

Excellent dress shoe that provides great support!

I have been wearing this shoe brand for over a decade now. I just love them. A pair lasts about 3 years for me with one visit to the cobbler to resole. I wear them to work daily, and they suit me well for the Chicago weather. They only disadvantage is that it takes couple of weeks to breakin, and I would have liked a bit more cushioning. I use it roughly, no special treatment, but keep them clean, wipe then daily, and polish once a month. I do sweat in my feet (no stinky feet though :), so the shoe takes abuse between moisture and dry conditions very well.

Trying to get the fit to be right

I need wide width shoes. I looked for weeks in every store that sold shoes. I walked into Johnston Murphy's and was greeted with that old fashion professional customer service you just don't find anymore. The shoes I purchased are amazing! I wanted two pair one black & one brown. The black was in stock the brown they send two me in a few days. The shoes fit like a glove! Next time I need shoes the choice will be very easy for me.

Really good looking shoes. They fit great so far. I wore them to a tradeshow where I was on my feet all day and I felt fine.

A little stiff in the beginning but not to worry. After a few times wearing them, they look and feel great. Very classic look, you could have these shoes for 40 years and I bet you wouldn't look out of place with them.

Use mainly for work, but for going out as well. Stylish, classy, traditional, yet comfortable as feet never get tired in them.

The shoe looks great. Your traditional cap-toe, it will really draw attention and compliments. Construction is solid, and seems to be a durable shoe for the short period of time I've owned it. My only issue with it is that it scuffs quite easily. When sitting at my work desk, I tend to extend my legs and cross one shoe over the other. This left a scuff line on the top of the shoe where the other was resting (looks to be easily dealt with with a little polish, buff, and shine). Guess this is just a bad habit I need to break, but beware where you rest your shoes!

I've been buying this same exact shoe for years and have it in burgundy as well. I wear it to work and with suits. It's comfortable and durable. For the price and quality I think it's a great buy.

Have purchased at least 8 pairs of the Melton Cap-Toe over the past 15 years. They wear great and are very comfortable. I wear them everyday to work and for going out. The upper leathers outlast the leather soles and still look great. Instead of having J&M repair the soles, I simply buy a new pair because I know they will be comfortable right out of the box. I need a 13E width which is hard to find any store. J&M mails the shoes right to my home and I don't have to worry about an offsize or fit. I highly recommend the Melton Cap-Toe shoes.

Wear the shoes daily at work in both dress and dress casual mode. Shines beautifully, whether brush shine or spit shine. Very comfortable. Only shoes I have had in decades that don't require me to use ortho inserts. I have shoes that I have paid 3 times more for which have been relegated to the closet floor since I found these J & M Melton's. I have them in both black and Bordeaux and love them both, but I wish the Bordeaux was a wee bit lighter in color. Still a beautiful shoe. I also really like that the tongue is fixed on one side. Makes for perfect alignment. Wish I could find an equivalent penny loafer in quality and width (3E).
