Love the quality and the looks. Perfect shoe for my dad's size. Not easy to find. Most important, he loves them.

Fit wonderfully out of the box, 2 days and totally broken in - better than I expected. Very classic look - works with dark jeans as well as suits. Hard to go wrong with these!

Quality, looks and luxury feel absolutely exceed price tag level by a significant margin. The leather is supple and comfortable and creases very well. Received many complements from observers who were convinced they were much higher end, and were surprised to find out the maker and price. Every time you shine them they look like brand new again. Wore them quite often for well over 3 years and the uppers are still it perfect condition. Only the soles are rubbing away, inevitably. Just ordered myself a new pair, but still thinking of getting the old ones repaired - I like them that much. I really hope the manufacturing and materials standards have not been not lowered since my first pair. These are probably one of the best shoes I've owned, with the exception of some Church's, but then they cost about twice the price. I usually don't bother writing reviews, but these are remarkably praise-worthy. Only thing is, although size is right, they are slightly roomy for size, and I'm usually more comfortable wearing thicker socks with them.

About 1/2-1 size smaller than typical shoes for me. I've never purchased anything but a D or medium in any shoes. Required and E for these - feel great though.

Bought these shoes as a backup pair that are 20 years old. Fit, finish and comfort matches the two decades old pair. The newer version appears to be just a touch larger in the heel and the toe box, and the stitching is just a hair larger, but overall these new shoes look as well built as the older pair. I bought these to replace a pair of Samuel Hubbards. The J&M are a bit less comfortable, but they look WAY more stylish. I looked into getting my old Sam Hubbards resoled, but it costs $80 plus shipping one-way. At half the price of a new pair of J&M, I am not sure it is worth it to resole. The Hubbard's are well built, and comfortable, but the life of the soles, cost of resoling, and look gives the edge to the J&M's. I'm looking for a pair in brown next.

My husband is an attorney and wears a 13.5 shoe. We ordered these in a 13, and they fit great. After spending many years buying cheap $40 dress shoes that fell apart after a year, we purchased his first pair of these shoes 10 years ago. He wore them every week; sometimes every day. We had them resoled and rehealed at least once, perhaps twice. He says they are extremely comfortable. We finally bought a new pair because he wasn't always careful with the first pair (e.g. sometimes wearing them while bicycling to work) and ended up getting too many scuffs on them to make them very presentable, even with shining. We use cedar shoe trees in them to keep the caps from cracking and to absorb moisture, which helps maintain the leather. Occasionally (not frequently enough), we use a shoe cream (not polish) to maintain the leather and shine them. He'll never buy another kind of dress shoe.
