Only shoes I wear - If I had my way I would wear flip flops 24-7 365, but obviously that isn't possible. These are my favorite shoes. I have bought 2 pairs in the past 5 years. My first pair is still almost perfect condition, and I only bought the second pair because it was on sale and I couldn't pass that up. This is a great shoe, very well made, and comfortable. It looks great with just about anything (except shorts :)). I use it with the Dr Marten comfort insole and I couldn't ask for a better shoe. They wear a little tight when they are new, but after breaking them in, they loosened up a tad. Worth their weight in gold.

Great shoes but... Overall a great pair of shoes. I have similar black shoes and previously had the brown (blown out side)... The only issue I have is: The heel of the shoe where the leather stitching comes together is very hard and dug a hole in my heel... The second time I wore these, I had a back up pair of shoes just in case they dug in again...I had to crush the heel to soften them up... My black shoes are around 5 years old and did not need this type of break-in...However, the flex sole is softer and feel great.

Buy this shoe! These shoes are the most comfortable thing I own. I had a different model of Dr. Martens that hurt like **** to wear; however, these fit perfect right out of the box. If you're wondering, "should I buy this?"...stop wondering and start charging. You will not regret it.

Impressed - I was a little nervous about ordering shoes online, my fears were put to rest when these arrived in 1 day. This is my first pair of Dr. Martins, and as soon as I took them out of the box they fit like a charm and I can tell that after a few wears the leather will soften up a bit. They look great and I can't wait to wear them.

My first Dr. Martens - I have very bad feet - butchered by multiple litter surgeries and am always on the look out for shoes, slightly more social than jogging shoes, that I can live in. I believe I have found it. The flex-link technology makes all the difference, I think. It is heaven sent. The only thing I would ask of this 'heaven' is for a little sleeker look. But again that might destroy the comfort factor!

I might be one of the pickiest shoe shoppers out there. Ask my mom, sister, and girlfriend, finding me a shoe is a nightmare basically because I want one shoe that will be good for everything. And I have kind of wide feet. This is my favorite shoe of all time because it's really amazing for casual and dressy contexts. It's really comfortable (I use an insole because the arch isn't fantastic - only drawback); it fits lovely right out of the box. It's got a burly tread that took 2 years to start wearing down. They are my feet's best friend and I will buy them forever...

I love this shoe - I love this shoe. It is a bit more fitted than most Doc oxfords, so the size was perfect since I have a narrow foot. It might run a bit snug if your foot is on the wider side, just as most Docs run a bit wide and require an extra thick pair of socks for me. The leather is gorgeous and durable. The Flex Link sole is amazingly comfortable, providing great support. I have a broken bone on the top of my ankle and a huge spur on my heel and with these shoes I can walk without my brace, which I think says quite a bit, since all other shoes are extremely painful.
I'd also recommend:
The other Doc oxfords with padding around the edge - the brown is a bit wider but great leather

Space & Comfort: A+ My third pair of Docs for a reason...they last and they're comfortable! Like a previous reviewer, shoes are sometimes too narrow for me and was wary about getting my normal size in case there was no give, but these have the perfect amount of toe space and padding on the heel. Wish it had an arch, otherwise a great shoe!

My son loves these! I bought these for my son and even though he owns another style of flex link he prefers these. He said the cushioning at the back of the heel adds to the comfort. They look great with jeans or casual dress pants.

Great shoes! Dr. Martens shoes never disappoint. This particular new model of shoe reaches a little bit higher to the ankle and takes time to adjust to. It rubbed my ankle too much at first, but as I break the shoe in, it gets better and does not rub too much. I think I will fully break them in soon. The shoes look great! Awesome quality.

They LAST AND LAST AND LAST! I bought my first Doc Martens about 20 years ago and they still are fine shoes. I got these just because I like the look - aaah! and the FEEL! They're great in winter: on snow and ice, no tripping or slipping, and they look great at all times. I LOVE these shoes!

Dr. Martens last a long time! They are leather! Extremely durable and comfortable! I outgrew my last pair and I had them for 5 years! It takes a whole year just to break them in! They'll never fall apart or wear a hole! Well worth the price! I’ll wear them until I die!

These have to be one of the best shoes on the market - They are in one word great. They fit well, and wear even better. These are about the 5th or 6th pair I have purchased and have been very pleased with the quality. Zappos are also in one word great, they are the best place to buy from, great products and even better prices!!!

Fantastic shoe; worth the price! This is my second pair of Dr. Martens 8053s. The first lasted almost one year before the inside lining at the heels started to wear out. I experienced a breaking-in period for that first pair. My second pair fit perfectly out of the box and are my main shoes. I don't use polish or shoe creme with these - a once-over with Weiman leather wipes (available from my local supermarket) keeps them looking new. I have had several shoes of this style from Sketchers and Timberland, but the Dr. Martens are the best. They look the best and wear the best. In summary, this is a fantastic shoe and I will keep buying them as long as I wear shoes.

My favorite DMs - I have worn DM shoes for work for years. Regular shoes have sometimes been a problem for my wide, flat feet. These are wider in the toe area and fit great!

Very comfortable shoes - Good shoe. Very durable construction and design. Perfect for those who are on their feet all day like me. They felt a little wide but wearing thick socks solves this. Also they make my feet real sweaty on warmer days. These are the most comfortable shoes I’ve owned and I recommend them to everyone.

Started with 8053 BEN US11 in light brown. WAY too tight in width and snug in length. I sometimes wear a US 10.5 in sport shoe/hiking boot, usually a US11. Have been wearing an AEO US12 with a medium insole and mid-weight sock. Swapped the 8053 BEN US11 out for 8053 FDM US12 in crazy horse (dark brown). Perfect fit with a mid-weight sock no aftermarket insole. Wore them for a few hours and I think break in will be minimal/not existent. The leather in dark brown seems thicker/more robust, but supple. I prefer a box/squared toe and the US12 FDM seemed boxier. It may have been the size difference and/or BEN vs FDM. My only (slight) complaint is that I prefer the BEN tread (old style) over the FDM tread (lines). As for Zappos, ordered late afternoon, arrived late morning the next day. Will probably never buy in a store again. Thank you Zappos!

Love em. This is my 3rd pair of Doc's and I have to say they fit like a glove out of the box and I wear them 8 hours a day 5 days per week with no break in time needed. Great shoe and great looks!

Pretty Satisfied - These are the first pair of Dr. Martens that I have ever owned. I bought them as comfort shoes to wear at work where I have to wear business casual. Needless to say, they worked perfectly. The only complaint I would have is during the break in period, the shoes gave me two blisters (one at the back of each ankle). But since I've broken them in, I've had nothing but compliments.

Good as ever! I ordered these for my husband, who really enjoys wearing them. He normally has trouble buying shoes because his feet are wide, but in my experience Dr. Martens are kind wide anyway, even though they do not come in wide widths. I ordered these a half a size up form his normal size and they fit great, and he tells me they are really comfortable. He did not even have to break them in!

I likie the Flex Link – After the Dr. discontinued my Black Greesy 8053 I was beside myself, how could I find something as comfortable as the shoe style that I had been wearing for the past ten years? Then I found the Flex Link version with the insoles. I have been taking the shoes off at night and have been thinking, "I like the floor more with the shoes on, will my wife mind if I wore them to bed?" I really like the new inner design. In the old design, the toe area falls apart after a few months of your feet sweating, in the new design, buy a pair of gel soles and get your groove on for another six months. The heels take about a week to break in, I have unblistered man heels and I was a tad bit uncomfortable for the first couple days but after the first week smooth walkin!

Dr. Martens 8053 Flex Link - Very sturdy comfortable shoes. I had to order a size smaller than recommended. I wear a size 9 and a size 6UK fit perfectly vs. a size 7UK. Great support and nice high toe box for room to wiggle your toes or wear thick socks.
