Just bought em - Ordered these shoes yesterday after work. They were waiting when I got home today. Super fast shipping. Awesome. The shoes were exactly as advertised. Good, sturdy and reasonably comfortable. I can see they will get more comfortable with a little more use/abuse. I did find the insoles that come with them a little thin. That's normal and I end up putting gel inserts in just about everything anyway. Your mileage may vary. They looked like the shoes they are...basic, black classics. Nothing special which is kind of the point I think.

Reliable - This is just a great shoe for knocking around town in a pair of jeans.

Great shoe, good for wide feet - I have really wide feet at the ball and toes, and a high instep. This shoe is great in that respect, and flat enough inside to insert the orthotics I’m supposed to wear. I’ve gotten used to buying women's size 9-1/2 or 10 in other shoes, to make up for how narrow they are, but this size 9 fit great, so in a way it seemed like it runs large. And I love the utilitarian, alternative look.

Top Docs! Bought these Docs for work as I’m on my feet ten to eleven hours per day in the food service environment. These shoes are excellent; they can take a real beating and still look good with a bit of care. I have owned Docs before so I knew what to expect. There is a break in period of a few days but it's well worth it because after that the comfort level is superb!

Can't go wrong - Dr. Martens are always a good buy. They are comfortable, durable, and are the most versatile pair of shoes I own. Would definitely recommend.

Review from Hawaii - I live in Hawaii and most of the time I have to rely on ordering off the Internet for products that we just do not have access to over here. Dr. Martens are available here, but not all styles and colors. I needed a new pair of shoes for work, and could not find a single pair with the cushioning on the heel area. I went to Zappos.com and found just what I wanted. The 8053 flex is just what I wanted. The shoes fit and feel great after just 2 or 3 days of breaking them in. Depending on the type of sock you wear, it could be a bit snug at first. But keep wearing and the snugness may go away. It did for me. I'm on my feet and walking all day for work. This is a perfect pair of shoes if you're up on your feet all day long. My feet don't get as tired as with other shoes. And they'd be perfect if you sit at a desk as well. They look great but more important, they are comfortable.

Good to go - I purchased these shoes and was anticipating a long break in, but there was none. Fit was good, shoe was all that was expected.

Doc's Rock - This is my 4th pair of this shoe and they are always comfortable and long lasting.

A new favorite shoe. This pair is very comfortable with little "break in" time needed. Doc Martens are my favorite shoe because I can rely on their quality & comfort to be consistent.

Dr. Martens Series 8053 - Flex Link - As always I have never been disappointed with the excellent service that is always provided nor with any of the Dr. Martens Brand of shoes that I have ordered in the past including the most recent 8053 series - Flex Link. The 8053 series provide great support, comfort, classic design and lightness. I am on my feet all day and have found these shoes to meet my expectations of comfort, support and aesthetic appearance. Therefore, I certainly would highly recommend anyone to try these shoes.

Very comfortable, nice style - I gave this shoe only 4 stars for comfort, only because I wish it had a little more arch support. But don't let that deter you; I gave them 5 stars on everything else. They were immediately comfortable when I slipped them on, and I like that they're a little more bulky than the "classic" Docs. They're appropriate for work and otherwise. I like them.

As usual, Zappos Service was great…The shoes arrived a few days after I ordered them. I normally wear a 10.5 WIDE, but ordered an 11 in a D Width and they fit fine. Doc Martens are about the only shoe that I can wear all day long and they're still comfortable.

The shoe that never dies... My husband has been wearing this Doc Marten shoe style for years now. He refuses to select any other shoe to replace it - One of his feet swells from time to time, and these shoes are wonderfully giving, and cushioning. His last pair lasted for two years with daily wear - these shoes are built for comfort and for durability. Try them - you'll love them!

Sold on Docs (and on Zappos) I got a pair of the Doc Martin 3989 Black & White earlier this summer and liked them, so I ordered these in the same size (UK9 US10). They arrived in 2 days, but were way too tight; seemed at least a half-size smaller than the 3989s. I returned and reordered using Zappo's painless process and 2 days later the UK 10s fit like a glove and may be the most comfortable shoes I've worn. They're much more flexible and better for walking than the 3989s.

Great work shoes - I own a small restaurant and on my feet 13 hrs a day most of the time in a kitchen that floors could be slick. These shoes are not only comfortable they are very safe on slippery floors.

Five years and still counting! 5 years ago I read a review praising this shoe and with a little prodding from my teenage daughter I decided the shell out the bucks. This shoe wasn't cheap compared with some of the others I'd looked at it was over $100 at the time. I only hoped I didn't come to regret it. $100 to an old guy like me is a lot of money! 5 years later and a little TLC along the way these shoes are still on my feet nearly everyday and they look almost like they did when I bought them! They are starting to show the wear just a little but what the heck I've never owned a shoe before that lived past 6 months! These shoes fit like a glove right out of the box. It took a little getting used to because the soles are a little thicker than most shoes. I think the part that took the longest to get used to was the money I spent, but as the years roll by these shoes have definitely earned their keep! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a casual shoe nice enough to wear to work or out on the town. I just bought a pair of Doc's slip-on. I'll let you know how they work out...five years from now!

Love these Docs - I have never owned a pair of Doc's. I bought them because of their product history. And, because they will be my shoes in the convent. They took about a week to wear in. I did have to wear band-aids on my heels for two days. But, they are so comfortable now. It's like walking on air. I sometimes don't even think I am wearing shoes aside from the fact that I have socks on. Go and buy you some. Its well worth the money I paid for them. I know just based on word of mouth, they will last 10 years.

I Love Zappos - If it wasn't for my sons, I would not be aware of Zappos. I have ordered two more pairs of shoes, one pair for each of my sons for their birthdays in April. The service, as usual, was wonderful, I saved a lot of money on the shoes (I saw the same shoes in the department store for almost $20.00 more), and paid nothing for the shipping and handling. My sons are now enjoying the shoes and sneakers. They are comfortable, and look very nice on. Thank you again Zappos for the wonderful and very speedy service.

My son in law loves this shoe; his last pair lasted him 2 years. They also have a heel low enough that it does not hurt his hips which give him problems if his shoes have higher heels.
