This boot is good looking, but I could not get it on over my arch, and I don't have particularly high arches. This was not a problem with the other 2 pair or Ariat boots I ordered.

I bought my first pair of the Ariat roper twelve years ago and after almost constant wear for the past five years, I needed a new pair. I found these to be much wider in the "ankle" and a bit more in the heel. The old pair still needs pulled on and the new pair can be stepped into. I don't know if Ariat has a new supplier or if the mold has changed, but I wish they still needed a bit of a pull and were not so loose in the heel - they are eating up my new socks. And any thicker socks would never fit in the toe.

This pair of shoes is decent overall if you factor in the price, quality, fit, style and comfort. However, something feels a little off when I walk in them -- foot bed seems too long (even though the fit is fine, with medium socks). I bought size 7.5 and the bottom outsole measures 11 inches, while almost all of my 7.5 shoes measure 10 inches long. The longer foot bed though perhaps is the style of cowboy boots but I am not used to it so I am returning the shoes. I suppose you need to make slightly bigger stride than normal when walking in these shoes.

This is my first pair of Ariats. I wear 7 1/2, but based on reviews I ordered both 7 and 7 1/2. Found these boots to be true to size so I returned the 7. They are a little narrow through the toe and a bit tight across the top of my feet, but I do have slightly high arches. I was looking for a more distressed leather, but the black leather on these is a little stiff and has more of a sheen and is more smooth than I was hoping for. I decided to keep them anyway because they are not uncomfortable, and I think they have the potential to become as awesomely broken in and distressed as my perfectly, extremely, broken in Resitol Ranch boots which I LOVE but cannot find sold anywhere. So far I have done yard work in mud, hosed them off, and shoveled 10" snow in them. My feet stayed dry and the boots look no worse for the wear.

I normally wear 8 D and have ridiculously high arches. Got the 8 C as is the widest offered. They fit with a bit extra toe room lengthwise. Could not get them on at first, bought a long handled (boot) shoehorn and got them on. The heel counter on the inside was the problem. Good boots have a smooth leather heel slide that goes under and over the heel counter so the heel just kind of glides down the ramp. Better boots also have an arch slide. These boots don't have either. They do have side loops so if you have boots hooks, you're in luck. Soles are nice and thick for walking, good heel height, leather on upper is very stiff. Haven't decided yet if I will keep them. In the picture they look very plain, in person they are kinda cowgirly. I really like the distressed brown. Like the bomber jacket my first boyfriend had.

I was concerned about the toe box of this boot being too narrow for me (since I like boxy, roomy toe space) and unfortunately it was. I ordered the size 10, medium width. WISH it were otherwise though, as the boot looks great and has a comfy, lined footbed. Oh, the heel was also a bit too loose for me - but I think I have extra narrow heels, so probably won't apply to others.

LOVE these boots. Purchased them last year to be a versatile boot that I could wear around town and go straight into walking the dog or other more outdoorsy things even on less-then-ideal weather days. They are perfect. I got them in the distressed brown so that wear and tear wouldn't change them too much. They stay dry in reasonable rain, took only a couple wears to break in and now are as comfy as slippers. I wore them almost everyday walking all day around cities, old country homes, and short hikes (<5 km) on a recent trip to Norway -- they held up perfectly and my feet never complained once. Plus I've worn them A LOT this past year and they still look almost as good as new -- they wear like iron! Recommended them to my sister and she got them in the black leather, a sleeker look that is great but she only wears hers around town so doesn't have to worry about wet muck. She also raves about them! Would highly recommend this boot! Well worth the money.

Ordered this boot for horseback riding and liked it very much. Good quality leather, great style and color. However, the boot runs narrow through the shaft and because I also have a high arch I could not get my foot through the lower shaft and into the boot itself. I am returning and will try a half size larger to see if that works.

A great boot, if you are able to get your foot into them (thankfully I can, but with effort). I would prefer a boot a bit taller; however, it is very comfortable and needs little breaking in.

I'm giving a 4 Star review - basically the challenges I have are entirely with my own feet, not with the boots. I have a wide foot, narrow heel, high instep, short legs with large muscular calves. I am just grateful that I can get these boots on and off and wear them for a bit at a time. No other boot has ever been possible in my whole life. That being said - the boot creases exactly at my toe crease, not the best. They are difficult to get off with my high instep and I can't wear thick enough socks to accommodate the roominess in the heel because of the high instep. And because I am short with the large calves - after awhile they do chafe my calves. The style is great and for anyone with an even remotely normal build they would be fabulous. I'm keeping mine with gratitude because they are the first pair that I can actually wear - even if only for a couple of hours at a time. Just happy to have them.

These boots were simply beautiful. classic, good leather, nice subtle detail in the stitching, the distressed brown was an awesome color. They seemed like they would be wonderfully comfortable. I was looking for a boot that I could wear everyday or wear out for a night... sadly they were a bit too wide for my legs.... something like a 4 inch gap. I ordered a size down like others had said, good advice... but these just won't work for me. So sad, I was in love when I opened the box!

This is a great boot, but I have a high instep and getting them on was a problem. Once my feet were in, they felt fine. But too much hassle for entry. A shame! I'll have to stick to zippered boots.

The boots run pretty much to size. I have a pretty high arch so finding a boot I can get my foot into has been tough. These are just what I am looking for. Ordering and returning were amazingly simple.

I bought the size that should have been perfect for my feet: 9C. The width is still tighter than other wides and I'll have to get them stretched. The shaft seems particularly stiff which has its upside and downside: I need to wear knee-highs till they're well broken in. Finally, I must wear doctor ordered orthotics. The heel of the orthotic rubs against the inside heel of the boot making an embarrassing squeaky sound (and loud!) with each step. I either have to get used to that, or find an off the shelf orthotic that won't creak every time I walk.

The arch support in these boots are decent (not amazing), but at least I am able to wear them without inserts. I think they are cute and have gotten lots of compliments. My one issue is that they seem to constantly pull down my socks off my heel. I've taken to wearing really high socks to prevent this.

I bought these in the Mission Brown, which seems to be a medium brown shade in the photos here on Zappos. In person, I would say they're a bit darker, but the more surprising thing to me is that in person they are so much more distressed than in the pictures. The leather in the pictures looked minimally distressed, with some orange undertones but primarily the dark brown color. When my pair arrived, I was pretty taken aback by just how much orangey-brown distressing there was. Literally, my boots have brown-orange streaks all across the top of the foot and going up the shaft, which are very contrastive to the dark base color. So, just something to be aware of if you order the Mission Brown color. I'm sure the distressing varies from pair to pair but mine is significantly more distressed than the photos depict. Anyway, at first I was put off by this but ultimately decided I liked the boots too much in every other way to return them. The footbed is super comfy and supportive. The leather is stiff but not overly so, and after just one wear, they're already breaking in fantastically. I have a very high instep so I was nervous about the one star review saying the person couldn't get them on their feet, but I had no issue getting these on. I have wrestled to stuff my feet into many pairs of boots, but these ones literally slipped right on. They did initially feel a little snug at the top of the foot but again, after just one wear the leather is already molding to my foot and they no longer feel uncomfortable in any way. I was also a bit nervous about the calf circumference after reading a review saying someone could only fit in their skinniest jeans, because my calves are on the athletic side. However, the calf in my size nines is extremely generous, almost to the point where it seems a little big. I'm fairly sure I could fit any pair of pants into them, skinny or not. Overall, fantastic boot. Only reason I give them four stars over five is because I'm just a little disappointed by how much more distressed my pair are when compared to the photos here on Zappos.

I bought this boot to wear around the barn and riding. It is well constructed and will last a long time. It runs narrow, but once I got the right fit, the boot is decently comfortable. I think they should and could do more to make it super comfortable.

Really cute basic cowboy boots. Super cushy inside. Was surprised by the narrow shaft though - I wish they were a little looser, as it is I'll only be able to get my skinniest jeans in there. Would be perfect if you wear a straight leg or bootcut jean. Also I'm usually between a 7 and a 7.5 and I probably could have done an 8 in these, especially because I like wool socks. Shaft is stiff, especially around the ankle, so they'll need a couple days of break-in. Yay Zappos, yay Ariat!

I love this boot! A C-width is not wide enough for my foot, and the right boot is notably tighter in width. If it came in a D or an EE width, I think it would have been perfect.

I purchased as a work boot. Well constructed. A bit difficult to get on, which may improve with wear. True to size, I did not find this boot to run large as others mentioned.

I really liked the look of these boots, but it was impossible to get my foot in them. The part where the shaft meets the foot is so narrow and inflexible that I could barely squeeze my right foot through and couldn't get my left foot through at all despite many desperate attempts. Once I did manage to force my right foot in, the boot was super-comfy and the fit was great. Ariat foot beds are sooooo comfortable. I hesitated to order a 1/2 size up because the size I ordered did fit once I spent 5 minutes getting my foot into the boot.

The Ariat Heritage Roper wins bonus points by being remarkably comfortable. At first blush, I thought it was going to be a blister extravaganza to break these in. It really only took a couple of hours. Like other reviewers, I would recommend ordering a full size smaller than you usually wear. I'm typically an 8.5, bought an 8, and have to wear thick socks to prevent sliding around. Regarding the quality of the boots, these are very sturdy. Bring it on - these boots can handle it.

I looked long and hard for a good pair of boots I could wear on our ranch, and finally decided on these. They are, of course, really stiff because the are new, but the fit and quality are good, and the style is straightforward, and I like those qualities.
