I bought them online, received and started wearing them. The size is between too wide and true to size, I hesitated to send them back and regret I did not order 2 sizes to send back the one that does not fit but finally kept them. I love their simple sturdy look, but I wonder how to protect them as there are no indication and they seem to be stained or scratches easily which is not what I expect from sturdy boots. Should I waterproof spray them?

This was a really attractive boot--weathered/distressed and rugged-looking. Leather was high quality and the bot was well made. Unfortunately, it's not that magic boot that looks stylish while NOT pressing on my bunions--toe box was too shallow/narrow for this wearer. If that's not your issue, however, this would be a great addition to a shoe wardrobe--great with jeans or skirts or whatever!

Have had boots about 2 weeks. Extremely comfortable. Only problem encountered is the inside seam on right boot rubs inside of ankle. Another pair of Ariat rompers does the same thing. Great as long as I remember to put band aid on ankle.

This is a great-looking boot; subtle detail at the top makes it more interesting without being showy or over-the-top Western. I wear a 9W in a running shoe, and the 9W in this boot fit perfectly. Alas, the leather was stiff over the instep and in the shaft, so I was sort of "clop-clopping" all over the house trying these on. There's a possibility the leather would soften, but I have painful feet and joints and think I could tolerate the breaking-in process. For people with normal feet, think this would be a versatile wardrobe addition. Just a note, if the manufacturer reads these reviews--I really appreciate the packing used to keep the boot's shape. I want to return to Zappos as nicely packed as I receive them, and the cardboard insert with the finger hole makes it SO much easier to remove/replace! Very thoughtful detail.

These are really nice boots, and I like Ariat's a lot. My only problem with them was also true with another pair I bought of the same brand. They make me feel like I am tilting forward. With my previous pair, it took a month or two until they sort of molded to my foot and I felt I was standing up straight. I didn't want to go through that again with a new pair of boots.

Very cute boots and comfortable - but did not look good on me. Sad to have to send them back

I loved the style and the quality was excellent. Unfortunately the interior of the foot was snug on top of my foot and rubbed uncomfortably. I've had the boots off for over an hour and I can still feel where the boot irritated my foot and I only had them on for a few minutes. I'm not sure of the solution. I guess the foot is narrow (top of foot to bottom) not width-wise, but I don't feel comfortable enough with that guess to order a larger size. Sadly, I have sent them back.

Based on other reviews I decided to order a 1/2 size down. I always wear a size 8.5 (in practically 95% of all footwear) but opted to order a size 8. Well darn it, even the size 8 was too big! So back they went and I ordered them again in a size 7.5. STILL too big! A little apprehensive about trying them again in a size 7 but I really like the simplicity of the boot and what I think will be quite a comfortable boot if I can get the correct size for me. Strangely, all cowboy type boots are always way too big on me in my usual size. My Dan Post boots are a size 7 and my Durango boots a size 7.5.

I like these boots very much. Just got them so have not worn for long period of time. However, out of the box they feel good. I have a very narrow foot and normally wear a size 10.5 narrow. I took the advice of other reviews and went down a half size to a size 10 and that works well.

These roper boots are cute and comfortable. Like most western boots, they run a half size to a full size too long. I usually wear a 6.5C and went with the 6C. And, like most western boots, a C in these is not the same as a C in sneakers. But, they feel the same as other Ariat western boots in a C width. They can be hard to get on and off if you have a high instep, but not impossible. They get easier to take on and off as the leather breaks in. The brown color is nice, they're distressed but not overly so. The tread on the bottom is a good size, it makes these great for both barn work and riding.

These are beautiful boots, I usually wear a 6 and ordered the 6 but I felt that these boots are too roomy. I didn't want to have to wear heavy sock with them so I am returning. I do have a small foot and have a hard time getting shoes that aren't too roomy so others might not have the same issue when ordering their regular size.

I love these boots. I needed a cowboy boot which looked great but could withstand the vigors of ranch work. This boot is great in pastures, in dirt, on the road and climbing up and down old barn frames. These are comfortable and mould immediately. Breaking in took two days and then no blisters. The scuffs rub out and the sole is great for work. Downside is getting the things on over the reinforced heel. Still using boot pulls or plastic grocery bags but we're getting there!

This is the first time I've purchased western style boots. I have not been disappointed. These boots are very comfortable but also very rugged.

This is my first pair of ropers, had over a dozen pair of "cowboy boots"that I've worn over the last nearly 2 decades. Also my first pair of Ariat. I'm now planning my next purchase, I'm thinking the Ariat distressed ropers.

These are great looking boots! Footbed seemed comfortable when trying them on, and the leather felt great. However, they were just a bit too tight for me around the top. They scrunched down at the ankle and I could see that they would rub. Sadly, these look like they're going to have to be returned. If they were not so snug around the top, they would have been comfy and a keeper.

I work on guest ranch, so I bought this for everyday use. It is very comfortable and a great height for someone short like me (I'm 5'1). It broke in after one day of wearing it and is a touch loose, but still looks and feels good.

I love these boots. Ariat boots have the greatest support. Unfortunately the boots do not love me. I have a high arch and this style in the distressed brown was too painful to try to break in. That's why I gave them a 3 in comfort. Darn.

This is my third pair of Ropers. I use them as work boots. This is the first pair I've bought on line since my local retailer quit carrying them recently. They only carried the B width and since Zappos had a wider width (C) I order the wider boot. When I received them they didn't look any wider and when I compared the soles they were the exact same width as my old B width pair. The only place that maybe felt wider was in the heel which is now loose on me. I was disappointed with the width. Next time I may try the Ariat Fatbaby boot, they appear to be wider.

First I would like to say I have many pairs of boots Ariats and other name brands I wear boots everyday of my life to school, work, around the house, in the pasture and even grocery shopping and normally I purchase square toe boots but I decided to buy these round toe working boots in hopes they would be more effective for my everyday wear. I purchased the brown distressed Heritage Roper boots size 7.5C about two months ago, and just like any boot I have ever owned I had to do some breaking in; the boot was extremely uncomfortable at first to where they were unbearable to wear at times. I own another pair of Ariat's that have a square toe and more for causal wear not for work and I can honestly say I do not remember them hurting so bad to break in while wearing them. After about a week the boot started to feel more comfortable but the heel is somewhat loose this does not cause me discomfort but I know boots are made to fit snug. Overall I love the look of the boot, the material, the width and the comfort and I would purchase them again I wear them everyday and I have already put them through a lot so they seem to be withstanding well.

I was given these about four years ago, I have worn them three days a week at least three months throughout the summer every year, as well as sporadically throughout the rest of the year, in rain, manure, mud, extreme heat. Just this last year they've started to break down slightly on the inside, but only the lining, the rest is still top notch. The reason I give this boot four stars instead of five is just that I think they could be slightly more comfortable, the sole becomes a bit hard after walking in them for a few hours.

I am a big fan of Ariat. I already own a pair of Heritage Ropers in brown and a pair of Ariat Bristols in brown. Both fit beautifully. But I think Ariat is changing their sizing. I know my feet or calves are not getting fatter! The black Ariat Heritage Ropers are beautiful and I love them, too. But they are much harder to get on than my other Ariats. It seems that the shaft of the boot is narrower and it is hard to get my foot down into the foot bed. They are comfortable once they're on and I can wear them all day. But getting them on and off is a pain. I even sent Ariat a pic of my brown and black Ropers next to each other, to show them the difference in the width of the boot shaft. No reply. Overall, I am still an Ariat fan but be warned.

Love these boots. I own other Ariat boots and found these to run 1/2 size bigger so I would recommend ordering 1/2 down. Foot area is very comfortable but my ankles (which are boney) rub the inside. Probably just need to break them in a bit. Overall I love the boots and would buy them again.
