I do a lot of boating during the summer months, and get sandals wet frequently. Generally within a short time the glue gives way, and the sandals fall apart. The reviews for this sandal were excellent, so decided to give them a try. They appear to be very well made, and I like the protected toe area. The spacing of the slats is such that your little toe can get caught there, and that is an uncomfortable spot on the sandal. This happened on my left, but not right foot, so I suspect a lot depends on your own anatomy. These do not is breathe as well as I would like, and also take a very long time to dry, and is probably my biggest complaint. If you're in and out of the water frequently, you want something that dries fast, and these do not. The build quality does seem excellent, and I see no reason they will not last for a very long time. Soles are thick rubber, and with lots of attachment points of the uppers, I don't see them tearing apart soon.

My husband owned a pair of the Keens with the nylon web straps before these. He loved those, and so I thought I would upgrade him to the leather Newport. Alas, he has not liked the feel of the leather ones. He had them all last season and still doesn't like them as much as the nylon strap version. We will change back next time.

My husband normally wears between an 11 1/2 and a 12 1/2 medium, depending on manufacturer, so I ordered these sandals in a size 12. His right foot is approx. 1/2 size longer than the left, and frequently swells. I thought that the bungie tie would allow for the swelling, but the elasticized bands under the bungie does not have enough give to accommodate the swelling -- even after 3 days of trying to break them in. He also said that the sandals were heavier in weight than he prefers. The shoes are of excellent quality and I would recommend them. They just didn't work for my husband.

Great sandal! I bought this for a trip to Israel because the leader said it is all he wears. I was unsure at first, but now that I've had them for a while, they have broken in nicely and they are what I prefer to be wearing for a sandal. I never liked the encased toe or the sandal with so many straps, but I have very much enjoyed these. I would be happy to get them again! Compared to the H2, I like the look of these better than the nylon straps on the H2. Great sandal, you should get them.

Love the colors and style but my husband complained of a blister he got and hasn't worn them since. I have three pair and love all of them.

Bought the Keen Newports for a South East Asia trip I was taking and they ended up working great. The sandals have really good grip and are fairly comfortable (post the break-in). The one drawback: the Newports do well in the water, but aren't particularly fast to dry. My friend had a pair of Chocos and they were significantly less wet day after day. Makes it better to store in your backpack, etc.

This is my third pair of Keen Newport Sandals. Only minor changes from the pair I purchased a few years back, but be advised that the color is far from what is shown. The pair I received was several shades lighter- closer to an olive /tan color and certainly not dark brown.

I own a pair of Newports that I bought several years ago, so I assumed I could just order these in the same size as my first pair, but these felt a 1/2 size, maybe even a full size, smaller than my other pair. Not sure I will buy more Keens online because it seems like I need to try them on now to see how they fit instead of just assuming the same size will fit properly. Unfortunately I bought them on sale at 6pm.com and they don't offer exchanges or free return shipping.

Well made; good quality. Very comfortable for my foot. The sole is a little stiff initially and when cold, but it loosens up.

The footbed makes my feet hot and perspire, otherwise the shoes are very supportive with a moderate amount of comfort.

I purchased them for an upcoming cruise to the Caribbean. With the closed toe, etc. I could wear them zip lining, etc. but found after wearing them (without socks) the straps rubbed my toes and my heels got sore wearing them around casually. Perhaps after the break in process they will feel more comfortable.

I read some reviews that these ran a half size small. However, the next half size up for me was out of stock. So I ordered my regular size, 9 1/2, and it fit great! I was especially pleased with the width as I normally take a EE width but these had plenty of room. I have two minor criticisms: 1. Though sandals, these are not very cool to wear. My feet actually get quite warm in them and sweat in the summer weather. 2. They are slippery on wet rocks. While hiking after a rain on some nearby rocky bluffs, I slipped several times on some boulders I was trying to stand on. They were more slippery than sneakers as the sole is somewhat hard and doesn't grab.

The Keen Newports arrived in a few days. They fit comfortably as prior Keens have. I wear them every day in the summer and they are a pleasure. I highly recommend these sandals.

Good service when the sandal was too small. Free UPS return is excellent. Sizing of Keen sandal smaller than the same sandal I've been wearing.

Bought for a cruise in Central America. A bit snug the first day--be sure to wear with socks the first few days to break-in/stretch to adjust to your feet. After that, ok without socks,if you wish. I prefer the rubber toe protector with these rather than the open toe models, which protect nearly as well as usual tennis shoes or bikers but better for hot weather or water. My husband liked mine so well he bought a male version. He had to go up a half size as his were too short in his usual size. He wore his daily on the excursions, never using his tennis shoes at all.

These are my second pair of Newports. I love these Keens, but due to the poor sizing, I have had to order 9 in man's to accommodate my size 11 wome]an's feet. They are a bit wide for me, but the comfort is worth it. I just cinch the elastic bungee cord as tight as I can. I wish they fit in the woman's 11. Keen's sizing is different for every style; some are larger than normal, some smaller. They need to get some consistency. Otherwise great shoes in general, and of course excellent customer service from Zappos!

Good shoe, good price. Had to send first pair back as they felt a full size smaller than marked. I normally wear a 10, ordered a 10 1/2 and ended upo with an 11.

I ordered Keen Newport sandals and was very pleased with the timely matter in which I received my shoes. They fit perfect and are very comfortable. I have had many compliments and people asking where I got them, and the comfort level.

These are my second pair of Keen's. My old pair is almost 4 years old and are faded so I bought a new pair. I have to say my old pair (Venice) are a better design in my opinion. They are much easier to kick out the inevitable stones you'll pick up. They would be better with one less side strap. They are comfortable though and Keen are the only shoes I've ever owned that will hold up to almost daily wear showing little wear.

The closed toe design is good in that it protects your toes from bumping into obstacles, but the combination of the open heel and closed toe means that dirt can get in from the back, but it can\'t get out at the front, so it just stays between your foot and the sole until you can stop and take the sandal off to clean it out. Great as long as you\'re not walking on a surface that has lots of sand, dirt or gravel, but these shoes are ostensibly designed for trail and water wear. Bottom line, if you are that intent on protecting your toes, wear full shoes, and if you really want the open air of sandals, accept having your toes exposed.

Comfortable and well-made, but a bit wide. They're also warmer than expected; this summer in the mid-Atlantic region they may prove too hot.

So far, so good. Only had these a couple weeks. Walked around the Singapore Zoo for a few hours in them. No problems! Purchased these for foot protection, primarily for walking on rocks around the beach. Still have to be careful because I was jabbed by a stick between the straps, but much easier to climb around when you don't have to worry about them falling off.

Super Comfortable! Got these for my hubby for our trip to Hawaii. They were comfortable right out of the box and held up well hiking, climbing, biking, and even snorkeling. Only complaint is that the traction isn't all there, could be better, especially on wet surfaces.

Pretty Good - This is my first pair of Keens. Overall they are a good fit, have a good look, and are pretty comfy. The only issue I have is that my feet are a bit too warm in them at work. I bought them for the open style so my feet could breathe while I'm running around as a nurse in the ER, but as I said, my feet are still a bit too warm in them. For outside work, they are great. Super comfy after a few days of "breaking in." I would recommend Keens for those of you who don't own a pair.
