With an impending snowstorm coming, and having no waterproof cold weather boots, I ordered my Sorels and could not be happier! I originally tried on a pair in a store, however, true to my size. They were quite large, so I ordered a pair one size smaller and they fit great. They were a bit awkward to put on at first, but you get used to it. With these boots I my feet stay toasty and dry, even in below zero weather and two feet of snow. I would highly recommend them! I also am confident they will last a long long long time!

They are comfortable, warm, and have great traction. I have gotten a lot of compliments on these boots.

These boots are so cute but are really stiff; so much so that they hurt. They are also narrow in the arch area but large in the toe, very disproportionate. Heavy and clunky. Sad that I have to send them back.

These boots are unreal. I have lived in Ohio for 5 years, and every winter I would put myself through unnecessary suffering due to having my feet get cold. I used to shovel snow in my Nike shoes for crying out loud.
But not anymore! I asked my brother-in-law who is a professional rock climber and sales rep for different outdoor companies what the best winter boots under $150 were, and he said the Sorel Caribou. And he is right! These boots are amazing! My feet have not been cold ever since I got them, and so far we've had a snow storm where I saw 6-8 inches of snow, and now an ice storm! I am wearing these boots EVERY day.
The only thing is I wish I had gotten a smaller size, but apart from that, they are unbelievably fantastic. You will not be disappointed. I promise you.
Thanks Sorel!

I found these boots to be extremely bulky and more masculine than I'd hoped. My feet are normal (medium) width and these boots felt particularly wide for me. Also, I find them to be inflexible at the ankle making walking somewhat awkward. For a city dweller, I do too much walking to feel comfortable in these boots. They do seem to be very good quality boots, but just not for me. I am returning them.

I bought these to replace a pair of Sorel boots I bought about 14 yrs ago in a similar style. Don't get me wrong, I still wear them- you can't wear them out! I wanted to get a new pair as now I am working in brutally cold temperatures and needed a newer updated boot with all the latest fabrics and technologies infused into them to keep my feet their warmest in below 0 degree temperatures. My feet don't even know it's that cold outside when I'm out there, as they keep them incredibly warm. They are the most comfortable boot I have ever owned, and they are true to size, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I highly recommend these boots. You won't be disappointed.

I live on Long Island (NY) and we have gotten 7 snow storms since Dec 26, most of them 8 inches and more. The last one was 16.5 inches. That's huge for this area. I am so glad I bought these boots. The fit great and keep my feet toastie warm and dry!

Just moved to the frozen winter wasteland that is Cleveland, Ohio from the milder climate of Washington, D.C. and my old hiking boots that have worked well for the past decade couldn't handle the winter up here. These boots are warm, waterproof, and keep the snow out. Great for walking dogs (and traversing the sidewalks that nobody cares to clean) and shoveling the snow that never seems to end. Despite being a bit heavy after a long walk, they do a great job and I would recommend to anyone who isn't acclimated to the cold.

This is an update having had these shoes for just over a year now. I remembered reading one woman complain that the rubber wasn't as high quality as it used to be -- specifically, that her boots cracked after one winter's wear. Having worn mine for part of the 09-10 season, and the 10-11 season so far, I, too, am noticing this cracking.
I'm doing nothing out of the ordinary. I don't leave my boots in warm areas when I come inside. I don't run the sides into sharp surfaces. I don't poke, prod, or otherwise pry apart the rubber toe and sole, and yet both boots have now cracked. The main cracks are in the rubber along the top of the foot, but I'm noticing that rubber is starting to peel away from the side of the sole, too.
I'm attempting to use ShoeGoo as a fix since Sorel has a one year warranty, but so far it's not really holding. My recommendation? Mark your one year anniversary and make sure your boots don't need repairs before it hits. I love these things (warm! comfortable! heavy but worth it!) and am really sad that they're not holding together better.
I'd also recommend:

Really big and really clunky! I thought they looked like men's shoes in the size 9. I ended up buying the Tivoli instead and loved them much better!

I have had my Caribou boots for over 20 years now. I got them while I was living in Seattle, because back in the day snowboard binding took these types of boots. I have kept them over the years and after living in Chicago for over 15 years now they are still my go to boots for heavy snow over my North Face ones. These boots last FOREVER and I have noticed a HUGE comeback in the brand. It seems like I have been ahead of the trend for a very long time.

I LOVE these boots. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because they run a bit large and are certainly for wider feet. Half sizes might be helpful, but aren't available.
Also, these boots are perfectly warm and wonderful, even in the coldest worst weather. Just be careful when picking a size.

I bought these for my daughter, who needed something warm and waterproof for getting around campus. I ordered 1/2 size larger after reading some of the other revieiws. They arrived right on time, in 3 days and right before some -8 to -10 degree weather. She is thrilled, her feet are finally warm and dry, Funky look!

It took me a little time to get used to these boots. They are very heavy. But this has been a really sucky winter. And every time I am schlepping to or from the train on my daily commute to work, I think these boots were my best purchase of 2010. If you live somewhere cold, where it snows and you have to risk life and limb on ice, buy yourself a pair of Sorel Caribous.

Bought these boots for my nephew just in time for the big LI storm! Said they kept his feet toasty warm as he shoveled away! And he looked good doing it! My driveway is ready for the next blizzard. Told him I got my Caribou's before he was born- and he's now a sophomore in high school! He did the math and realized he has many years of shoveling in them ahead!!! Great product.

The boots are great! I've ordered them for years. I always order replacement liners to get a better fit. The replacement liners are twice as thick, and have a pocket in the bottom for foot warmers if you want to use them. The boots seem to run about a 1/2 size larger without the replacement liners.

Two weeks ago, I wanted the buff color (above), but there was a huge storm over a lot of the northern part of the country and the colors and sizes were low. I ordered a 7 in slate, but it was too small and I just returned it a few days ago.
I generally take a 7 or a 7 and 1/2 shoe. Meanwhile, the sizes and colors were restocked,
and I ordered a size 8 Caribou in the buff (above) and it arrived today, in time for more shoveling.
I took a walk to the store 1/2 mile each way and wore it the rest of the day, driving and shoveling. Very comfortable.
The 8 fits very well and I will get a lot of use out of these. Whenever I mention the Sorel Caribou to someone, they know of it and said it is their all-time favorite boot, too.

I remember these boots from the 70's. I didn't have a pair but envied friends that did. I have RA and my feet are very sensitive to the cold. Well they haven't been cold since I got these. They are kind of wide and clunky but wonderfull.

I Love my Sorels!!! I live in North New Jersey and for the last couple of weeks we had 2 snow storms. Needless to say that I shoveled, played in the snow and my toes stayed warm and toasty. I'm a size 6 1/2 to 7 I ordered them in size 6 and they feel very comfortable.
They are my favorite boots so far. I know they will last a long time! I can't wait to go to my inlaws (they live in Maine) to show them off!

Bought winter boots to ward off the snow gods this year, and it didn't work. The boots however are great! I wear a size 10, and the 10s are a bit big. If I don't wear them with heavy wool socks my heel slips. I didn't want the risk of getting 9 1/2s and having them too tight with thick socks. The boots are heavy, but they provide great traction in snow and ice. They are very warm, and stay dry.

Got my boots after getting a pair for my wife for Christmas since she raved about hers. Love the felt liners...can't beat them for comfort and warmth. Only complaint is that I wish they came in half sizes...I'm an 11 1/2 and had to go with a 12, so they're a little big on me.

We live in NYC and I am always pushing a stroller through un-shoveled streets and sidewalks so I needed something warmer than Hunter boots and Uggs to get me through the winter. I wanted to buy something I knew would last for the next couple of years and through sledding, snowman building and Manhattan streets and these are fantastic. My toes get cold very easily and they stay toasty warm in these boots. The only drawback is that they're very HEAVY! I opened the box and thought there was no way these were the correct size, yet alone woman's shoes because they are gigantic but they do the job. I usually wear a 9-9.5 and ordered a 9 and think an 8.5 (if there were half sizes) would fit much better. Even with thick socks they're big. I imagine the 8 would have been too small.

I bought these boots to wear on a trip to Germany in December. There was snow/slush and very cold air. My feet got wet and cold after about an hour outside. I thought my feet were wet from sweating but when I took my boots off it was obvious that water had gotten in from the outside. The wool inserts were soaked and my socks were damp. I was very disappointed since these boots claim to be waterproof.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED SOME SOREL BOOTS AFTER A CO-WORKER SUNG IT'S PRAISES ON HOW DURABLE AND WORM THE BOOTS ARE. BY-THE-WAY HE'S OWNED THE SAME PAIRS FOR THREE YEARS AND NOW AND CONSIDERING BUYING NEW ONES AND ASKED ME ABOUT MINE. AS A FLIGHT ATTENDANT WITH A PART-TIME JOB AT TRADER JOE'S THESE BOOTS COME IN HANDY FOR US BECAUSE IT GETS COLD IN THAT FREEZER AND FROZEN SECTION OF THE STORE, IN FACT I HAVE HAD A FEW CO-WORKERS COMPLIMENT ME ON MY SOREL. WHAT I AM PERPLEXED ABOUT IS IT IS WORM INDEED BUT I THINK THERE MIGHT BE A DEFECT IN MINE BECAUSE AFTER WEARING THEM IN THE SNOW THE NEXT DAY MY SOCKS AND BOOTS FELT WET INSIDE, BUT SOON DRIED QUICKLY! I THINK THEY MIGHT NOT BE SEALED RIGHT! I WORE THEM AND AM NOT SURE IF I CAN GET THEM EXCHANGED OR LOOKED AT? ANY SUGGESTIONS? NOT QUITE HAPPY WITH MY SORELS AT THE MOMENT!
