I loved the look of these but they were just too narrow. I have several pairs of this model all in the same size that I love. I ordered the EE width and they were marked a EE in the shoe but the forefoot was really tight and narrow. I wonder if the different fabric from the other I have didn't give any stretch and that was the problem. Looks like there is no option for a wider size. Too bad beCause these are some really great looking sneaks.

Originally, I ordered a size 13 which is my normal shoe size. The shoes looked great, but squeezed my toes when walking. I quickly called a Zappos rep and within one or two business days, I received a bigger size that fit perfectly. The rep was really helpful, the delivery was amazingly fast and the shoes fit well. I will continue to order my shoes here.

The classic. I had these in high school, I remember that I had bought a pair of grey/grey M574's and fell in love instantly. Even when they did rip (this was because of extremely heavy basketball play which this shoe is not designed for) I loved them so much that I had bought another pair. Two pairs during my high school years, worn every single day. In my senior year of college, I reminisced about all the shoes that I have bought, and how despite the fact that most of the shoes I bought were extremely flashy and stylish, I never felt like I stood out more than my shoes than when I wore the 574's. So, I ended up buying another pair, a little skeptical about whether or not the feel of the shoe would be the same as it once was. I had become more of a shoe guy during college, so comfort and durability were very high on my list; even though I had running shoes and basketball shoes and training shoes, sometimes you just want one all-around shoe. The 574 is just that. I got the classic grey/silver M574gs pair. At first, the heel midsole area felt very stiff, the suede not as loose as I once remembered. I gave it time, since it was a step away from my other, more modern-designed sneakers, which are good to go straight out of the box. After a week or so of everyday wear, that refreshing, just-wear-it feel came back. The ENCAP in the heel softened up, providing ample cushion for a variety of tasks, the upper loosened up. The reason the 574's are so good is because, like a pair of Converses and unlike a pair of brightly-colored Nikes (I have them all, so I'm unbiased), they never go out of style and look better the more beat up they get. I've had my current pair for three years, no holes in the sides, the outsole is still intact, the reflective material is still there. The shoe just looks worn, which I really miss from shoes. The best shoe. I would recommend getting a pair of US574's if you have the extra cash from the New Balance website, but if you don't mind about the quality of construction as much, these will do just fine.

I love these Shoe's i just wish they were inspected before they were shipped one Of them was smooth and the other was rough. I decided to keep them because I needed a new work shoe by the esthetics weren't pleasing. If I would have seen this at a department store I would have asked for an other pair. Overall the shoes are great!

I bought this shoe for my 88 year old father. He says it's the best shoe he's ever owned, and he loves them! I'm happy because he is walking with confidence and stability, and this shoe is giving him all the support he needs! He likes the way the look too! I Love New Balance, and I love Zappos for the great price and service! Buy this shoe!

Recently New Balance has been producing shoes that are too small overall, especially in the toe, so I've ordered a half size bigger than my other shoes but they are still too small.

The New Balance 574 was first introduced in 1988 and is now marketed for its classic or retro style. But I like it for its substance. It has a broad flat sole that feels well planted. The low drop (or low heel height) gives it a natural stance. There are no motion control inserts, so it allows a natural stride. The only hardware underfoot is the Encap, which seems to form a sort of cradle for the heel. The 574 is built on the SL-2 last, which gives more toe room. So if you like a shoe that serves between the minimalist desire for natural stance and stride, but provides good shock absorption for the knees, good pressure distribution for the foot, and has plenty of room for the toes; this may be as good as it gets. Maybe that's why the 574 remains essentially unchanged for over 20 years, and still popular.

The New Balance sneakers were delivered promptly. The fit is perfect. I always buy my footwear from Zappos, best site on the Internet. I would recommend to one and all.

Love these shoes. I buy a new pair every summer. Zappos service is top notch. Shoes make do my house in a matter of a couple days. Shoes are comfortable and look great. I like the stealthy all black. Seems like you can wear them with anything.

A finely made shoe with a no-nonsense simple style that fully replaces the New Balance 991 for me at half the price. Go with the M574: they look much better (by contrast the expensive 991s appear fussy and over-the-top). I discovered recently that I need the 2EE width: the M574 come in that size. Great value.

I love these sneakers. They fit right, feel right, and look great! These were a great investment. I know I may sound like someone who works for the company but I don't. I'm just a guy who likes comfortable black shoes and I'm glad to add these to my collection. Toodles!

I've been going with New Balance for a long time for sneakers. I've ordered a few online, and so far they've always fit properly. The New Balance M574's caught my attention by their nice classic look. For many of the other current New Balance, I don't like their shape or find the colors to be obnoxious. I haven't worn these much yet so they feel a little rigid, but good overall. They seem to have a nice durable construction too. There seems to be a huge variety in color schemes for the M574, but my ideal colors weren't quite available. I would prefer the black and white to have less white, but not be all black. I remember at some point New Balance had a similar shoe where you could custom pick your own colors, but it costed significantly more than this. Still, this is a minor gripe, and I'm glad that New Balance keeps making classic sneakers like the M574.

Felt smaller and narrower than advertised - does not fit at all like a different NB model in same size/width. Not sure if it is a quality control issue or different tooling. Either way, have to send them back unfortunately.

Shoe is exactly as described, I have orthotics from my podiatrist but given the arch support in the shoe I don't need them.

Perfect price, perfect fit, rapid turnaround. These sneakers are perfect if you have custom orthotics; you can take the insoles out and fit yours in. I have no complaints.

These are amazing. Comfortable & look fantastic. I bought these in Blue/Yellow. Always love my New Balance M574. Can't go wrong with these! Going to get other colors as well.

I really loved this shoe as soon as I saw it. Unfortunately, the EE size which normally fits me with any New Balance shoe, did not and there are no wider sizes. That's too bad, I really wanted this shoe.

I have worn several pairs of New Balance ML330. When I tried to re-order, they were out of stock, so I went to this model, M574 in the same size, 13EE. They felt just a little bit tighter, but I decided that they just needed to break in. After a couple of weeks, I noticed bruises under both big toenails. I've decided that they toe area is just a little bit tighter, especially at the very tip of the toe. Even thought they are the same size from the same manufacturer, they just don't fit me properly. I'm not turned off to New Balance, just more aware of areas that require consideration in shoe fit.

Great all-around shoe. The green is not too bright so they match most things and the materials are pretty durable so you don't have to worry about beating them up too much. The only minor issue is that they's a bit tight in the toe area. I actually had to return and go up a size.

The purchasing experience with Zappos is a painless one. When my order arrived the sneakers had to be returned for a larger size and the return policy was extremely easy. I definitely will buy shoes from Zappos again.

Overall pretty good. I wear a size 12. However, I had to go up to a 13 in these. The toe box was a bit narrow and my big toe was rubbing up against the other side. Other than that, no complaints so far.

Nice shoe. I wear a 10EEE although I ordered a 10EE because of the lack of availability of the wider size. My left leg is also 3/4" shorter than my right and a heel lift is required. When I put the lift in and tried them on, the shoes were just a little snug. After a couple of hours working in the yard, they feel exactly as they should. Very happy with them.

I have worn the M574 for several months. I only wear them three to four days a week, but the exterior leather is already showing substantial tearing. The laces have cut through the leather eye holes, and the inside, middle panel of my left shoe has an inch hole. The fabric on which the leather is sown has not failed yet and appears to be more durable than the leather. I can only assume the fabricator for the New Balance brand is cutting corners, because I only use these shoes for errands and casual trips around town. I do not use these shoes for running or long walks, but they are showing wear like they are more than a year old.

It seems standard sizes are shrinking. I take a 12 Wide in uniform oxfords. This shoe fits best when 13 Wide. Order a size larger; and it still needs some break-in time but is not so stiff that running or walking is painful in the toes.
