New Balance has a quality problem. I have been ordering New Balance Classics Size D for years, and recently ordered two pair, Grey 2 and Blue 3. I had to return the Grey 2 pair because they were too narrow. I hoped maybe the width problem was with that particular color, and Zappos customer service was great, replacing them with Navy 2. So far the replacement pair has been fine. However, the Blue 3 pair of shoes also has a problem. At first they felt great, the right size and width. However, after using them off and on for a couple of months, I have found that each time I wear them my heels, ankles, shins and knees hurt. I think the arch and/or sole are off just enough to cause me to walk improperly. It is too late for me to return this pair, and it is strike 2 for New Balance. I think it is time to find a new brand.

I am giving these shoes a 1 star rating not because of the comfort or style. I am giving this rating because after only 1 month of wearing them with normal use, they are developing a couple holes in the faux suede body of the shoe. This is VERY disappointing because I love the way they feel and look. They seem to be made with cheap materials. Bummer!

I use the NB 574 just for casual walking. These shoes are very narrow (size D) and feel a little smaller length wise than marked. I have pretty narrow feet to begin which is one of the reasons I have liked the 574 in the past. Over the past couple of years or so, the shoes seem to have gotten smaller (as many of the especially lower priced NB shoes seemed to have) and feel especially tight over the top of the foot. They do stretch a little when you break them in but still remain a little tight especially on the bigger foot. They also do not feel like they have the same cushioning or comfort they had in the past. In short, they are uncomfortable. I am not sure if going up a half size or so is a solution because the heel area feels fine and I think if the shoe were bigger it might start to slip there. Though I guess you could probably lace them to account for this. It's a shame because it was a decent shoe in the past. Now they are too tight, small, and lacking the same cushion it had. They do look good as they always have but for me, comfort is number one and I don't get that from these.

Extremely frustrated with Zappos. I've been a customer for over 7 years, and over the last few, have not been able find any shoes at Zappos that fit. I thought perhaps that might change with these m574s, but not only do they not fit, but must be mislabeled. I was a loyal shopper for almost all my shoes here, but the quality has gotten so poor that I give up. I will be purchasing any more shoes from this site. I am tired of not being able to find a size that fits or not get overnight shipping as promised.

If you need shoes and have an usual size, go elsewhere. You will not find it here,

I am so frustrated with New Balance! I ordered a regular size 12 and it was way too tight. I then returned them and ordered the same size 12 but Wide. This shoe was shorter in length than the regular size 12. Never ordering New Balance again. This is the 3rd time (once in a Foot Locker and twice via Zappos) I've tried on their shoes and they all fit differently. I am now out the money and I don't even have a pair of shoes to show for it!

Just terrible. One shoe was the right size, the other was too large. Both marked the same size, but obviously a quality control problem. They are not very flexible and I've sent them back. I will never buy shoes over the internet again.

I ordered these shoes in an 11.5, 2E. They are not double wide. My boyfriend has two other pairs of this exact style in different colors and they fit perfect. I guess there is an issue with the green ones, the label read 2E but they definitely are not.

I've worn new balance 574 in the past, and though I never found them super comfortable, these seem to have gotten worse. I have somewhat narrow heels with a wider toe area. Saucony usually works well for me but unfortunately they no longer make a couple of the models I used to wear. Remembering how these, while not the best shoes, could work for me, I decided to give them a try again. First thing I noticed is that they are narrow and smaller than before. The materials seem to be cheaper as well. I have an older one from a couple of years ago to compare to and some of the material seems to be different. They feel cheaper. Also, the heels on these seem to quickly stretch and do not hug the heel, they feel loose. I don't recommend them.

This is a site I reached seeking wide athletic shoes. Yet almost every item I checked and interested in, in wide widths came up unavailable. Category is misrepresented as containing a reasonable selection of wide athletic shoes.

Three times this shoe has separated from the sole. I'm not going to return these again...but I won't be purchasing anymore New Balances for a while. Just because something is inexpensive doesn't mean the quality has to be poor. Other than that, this shoe always got compliments from friends and old people.

I bought these shoes to specifically wear in the hospital while I work. They're never worn outside otherwise. After roughly 1 month light wear, the inside edge of the shoe by my big toe decided to blow out. The shoe material basically started to separate from the sole. Right now, I've got a pair of shoes that really can't be worn because the one shoe is falling apart. I would not recommend this sneaker after this experience.

They were at least a 1/2 size too small, both length and width. Also, the color was not what I expected from the web site, and I have an expensive calibrated display.
