I use the NB 574 just for casual walking. These shoes are very narrow (size D) and feel a little smaller length wise than marked. I have pretty narrow feet to begin which is one of the reasons I have liked the 574 in the past. Over the past couple of years or so, the shoes seem to have gotten smaller (as many of the especially lower priced NB shoes seemed to have) and feel especially tight over the top of the foot. They do stretch a little when you break them in but still remain a little tight especially on the bigger foot. They also do not feel like they have the same cushioning or comfort they had in the past. In short, they are uncomfortable. I am not sure if going up a half size or so is a solution because the heel area feels fine and I think if the shoe were bigger it might start to slip there. Though I guess you could probably lace them to account for this. It's a shame because it was a decent shoe in the past. Now they are too tight, small, and lacking the same cushion it had. They do look good as they always have but for me, comfort is number one and I don't get that from these.

Sizing on these is inconsistent. My first pair was an 11.5 regular width and they feel fine. Picked up another pair, same size, and realized too late that they felt much narrower, tight above the toes, and 1/2 size smaller (still hoping these will break in a bit more). I've since picked up a couple pairs of size 12EE and they're fine. Definitely order your size and another pair slightly larger to try if you have wider feet or bulky finger-like toes.

Extremely frustrated with Zappos. I've been a customer for over 7 years, and over the last few, have not been able find any shoes at Zappos that fit. I thought perhaps that might change with these m574s, but not only do they not fit, but must be mislabeled. I was a loyal shopper for almost all my shoes here, but the quality has gotten so poor that I give up. I will be purchasing any more shoes from this site. I am tired of not being able to find a size that fits or not get overnight shipping as promised.

These are nice looking shoes. I have a wide foot and always need a D or E.. these were only available in EE.. So i took a chance, but these were still too narrow.. These shoes run on the narrow side.I never owned a NB show before, Unfortunately these have to be returned.

The good: I walk around NYC a lot but recently just got back from a trip at Disney World. I must have walked ENDLESSLY. for the exception of the last cpl hours of the last day (I stayed a week) my feet were comfortable, no pain; not tired..in fact, how my feet were feeling so great they were not even on my mind. by the 5th day of constant walking I said out loud "my feet feel great, these shoes are awesome!" the meh: I'm not a fan of the tread. even when first previewing the shoe, I was comprehensive because there's a lack. the shoes tend to slide and slip pending the kind of surface when it's raining or if it's wet. it took a couple days to adjust my step so I could walk without incident. Even then, I'd love a redesign on the tread. overall: tread missteps aside, it's a solid shoe. feels great, is very comfortable and would definitely order a new pair when needed

Great looking shoe! Both comfy and stylish. In my opinion, they run just a little bit small. I have a pair of m990 Classics in the same size and they fit perfect. These 574's are little tighter in length, but should be fine once broken in.

Very comfortable shoes. Good arch support. Color and size were both true. I wear arch support orthotics...slipped them right into the shoe and still comfortable.

Classic retro styling. Very comfortable. Length runs half to full size shorter than your normal shoe size.

These New Balance classic 574 are comfortable and very durable I use them for everyday use at work and I work in a warehouse atmosphere so that should tell you a lot. Thanks Zappos.

I am so frustrated with New Balance! I ordered a regular size 12 and it was way too tight. I then returned them and ordered the same size 12 but Wide. This shoe was shorter in length than the regular size 12. Never ordering New Balance again. This is the 3rd time (once in a Foot Locker and twice via Zappos) I've tried on their shoes and they all fit differently. I am now out the money and I don't even have a pair of shoes to show for it!

I mean these are great. If you know you like New Balances, these are more of the same -- some fine kicks. If you don't, but think you might, give 'em a try. I've been wearing these every day: comfy, lots of compliments, awesome sneaks.

Initially I felt the shoes was tighter even though I ordered the wide type, but wearing it almost every other day has made my feet perfectly fit the shoes and relaxing.

Great shoes. I normally wear 10.5 wide, and the 10 wide fit perfectly. Very comfortable and I like the style. Little to no break-in time.

Even with a wide width the toe box is still a bit narrow, still pretty comfortable though - good looking shoe - hoping they wear in a bit more. Also, they're a little warm.

Great shoe, but definitely sized very narrow! I went with the EE width and it's just comfortable there.

I like this shoe, except the size wasn't true. I have other NB 10EE athletic shoes and this one ran a little narrow. I have 10D shoes that I felt ran as wide as this shoe.

The best sneakers. Fit like a comfortable glove, and with a sole that's firm enough to keep rocks from poking up into the shoe.

Best. Shoes. Ever. My brother and I have both been wearing these shoes for over 5 years now. I just bought me a second pair. They are well built. Clean very easily, and even when they get a bit dirty they still look good (its the style). These are just casual shoes, not running.

Had to send these back. Even though I ordered them a whole size larger than usual, they were too tight in the big toe area.I think the toe box isn't deep enough.

Great price and great customer service. The sneakers I ordered were slightly too small so they exchanged them with no additional cost and free shipping. So convenient. They shipped the larger pair before I even sent the small ones back.

It was exactly as I thought it would be. Usually colors are different online vs. actuality. These shoes came exact to what I thought they would be.

I have to say this might be my all time favorite pair of sneakers. The classic styling is understated, yet people keep noticing them and asking where I got them. I'm a heavy fella and a month in, after wearing them almost every day, and being on my feet for at least 12 hours of the day, they still feel brand new. That New Balance arch support is still there, as well as the overall comfort. My only warning is in the size department. Every other shoe I wear is a 10 regular. With New Balance I always have to buy 9.5 wides so keep that in consideration when buying a pair of NB's.

These are my all time favorite shoes. I have purchased over eight pairs of them since they have been around. They are fairly easy to keep clean. They will match up with about anything you wear, from shorts to jeans and Khakis. I will more than likely enjoy several more pair in the future.

Sent them back. Shoes were way too tight for the size marked. If I order again, will go with at least a half size larger. I do like the style.

One big problem, the shoes squeak at the heel, VERY annoying. Otherwise, a good shoe. Very comfortable and light weight.
